Because of this video I'm going to string my first hybrid ever with gut/poly today..I'm going with 16 Volkl V-Icon gut/Kirschbaum Max Power(crosses). This is my big experiment I normally string a full bed of Max Power so I'm pretty sure I'll know right away if this hybrid is better or not.

Intelligent info here appreciate that, i have not found a hybrid combination that I loved yet, but have not tried everything. Many years ago Gosen offered a Kevlar blended string I really liked but I could not find that exact string later. Since then been using either Babolat gut 15L or 16 guage Luxilon Big Banger.

what about tension differences depending on poly vs multi in mains, different tensions?
@rakrishnan
@rakrishnan 4 жыл бұрын
You'll get more spin with nylon as main as it will slide/snapback on top of the smooth poly cross. With Poly as main it won't snapback because of the notches in the nylon cross that the tougher poly will create.

Thanks for your excellent video - thanks to you I strung Gamma Syn Gut for my mains and Kirschbaum Max Power for crosses and I'm getting very good results. It will take awhile to know for sure if this combo will win out but so far/so good.

Loved this video but my only outstanding question is what to string at given I string my multis at 55 an my polys at 50 so if I want to do a hybrid how do you decide what to string them at?

would be nice to know what tension to use on hybrids, because you have to use different tensions with poly/multi. Some ppl use 2lbs difference others use more
@SkyreeXScalabar

it varies but keep it 2-3 lbs difference or else the racket frame might be warped, I know yonex recommends cross be strung 1-3 lbs less than the mains no matter what because of the isometric head shape

I'm 55 years old playing tennis everyday. I need an arm friendly string setup in my rackets. I've Head Radical Microgel midplus (295 gms, 98 sq. inch racket with low stiffness) and babolat pure drive GT (300 gms, 100 sq inch with very high stiffness). Which hybrid set-up would you recommend for me in a budget ? Kindly give few alternatives too. Kindly also tell me the effect of higher tension in the cross strings.

I have read differing opinions on gut / poly hybrids and the string tension differential. If you put the natural gut in the MAINS and poly in the crosses, how much lower in tension would you recommend stringing the poly crosses for optimal performance and snap-back? Same with 16x19 and 18x20 patterns?

How about Alu power on the main at 55 lbs, and gamma tnt on cross at 58 lbs? This is for a Babolat pure aero 2019. My favorite string was a full bed of alu power rough at 55 lbs, but some of my harder ground strokes were sailing long and I had no touch on my volleys. Any other string hybrids you can recommend?

I’m currently feel comfortable in hitting ground strokes, but when I’m trying to hit a dropshot from the volley, the ball doesn’t go the way I want. It flies too high and that affects me a lot when I play doubles. If I want to increase the feel and touch, should I put the natural gut on main or cross string? Thank you.

Hello. Nice video! Thank you for sharing. I have question too. I have a Wilson 100sq 16x19 racket and I want to put Alu power rough 16l(poly) on main for 50lbs and Head Rip Control 16(multi) on cross for 52lbs. What do you think if this setup? Raymund

Hi pls help me out, I’ve been doing a alu power in the crosses with nxt in the mains set up but I’ve been looking for some more durability, so if I switch the poly into the mains and multi in the cross I can get more durability right? But I’m also wondering if I could lower the tension after the switch to get more power that I might lose from the switch ? Would that work ?

Just one question, is buying poly string(or any other type) in those sealed/small packages better quality than buying a reel? which is obviously exposed to air for a long time once opened.

Hey there Frisco Tennis. Thanks again for the channel! This video helped me change my set up for the better! I went from a full bed of poly to RPM Blast 18 (main) & Velocity MLT 17 (cross). Much nicer feel for me and good spin. Thinking about trying Hyper G in the mains but worried it will cut into the Velocity more than the RPM like you mentioned in this video. Should I do a soft co-poly in the crosses (instead of Velocity MLT) to try and duplicate the softness of my current set up?
@friscotennisstringing
@friscotennisstringing 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, hyper g has some squared edges so it can wear away a multi over a short time. It will be tough to get the same feel but a soft poly can help for sure. maybe alu power soft or polyfibre black venom.

Thoughts on stringing a 95D with Hyper G in the mains @ 45 and gut on the cross @ 62? Should the difference be within 4 pounds or are there any downsides if I string at that tension?

Nice video. Can you please suggest some not way too expensive multis that don't move much (I know they don't snapback but some of them should move less compared to others ). That way I can have multi mains, copoly cross hybrid setup as arm comfort is a top priority.

Checkout Head Velocity amzn.to/2J1ceoq or Babolat Addiction amzn.to/2Iw5TCE . Good multi's in my view. Velocity is slick though so you will have to decide if it shifts too much.

How important is having a coach when learning the sport of tennis ? Is it worth the money. Or is it better to do trial and error and learn from mistakes. I want to play as much as possible.
@SammyEddie
@SammyEddie 5 жыл бұрын
Marlon Gutierrez it’s like everything else in the world. A good coach will help. I coached for a while, and I could help you tremendously... at first. Then you need to play play play, hit hit hit, play play play, then come back and work on a few things, then play play play. Coaches won’t tell you this, because we want your $$$ 3 times a week. Take a few lessons and video the lessons. Or watch KZbin videos of the pros, video yourself, and compare. Seriously, your determination and someone to play with is good enough up to the 4.5 level.

Young Suit please tell me one technique that a coach can share that I cannot find on KZbin. Also, this person didn’t say he or she wanted to be a pro, just wants to be good. Some of the best guitarists I’ve ever met got great by playing and hanging around other great guitarist.

@@SammyEddie never said it was necessary, I said it was valuable. An in person coach can analyze exactly the way you move your feet and position them. It's hard to get that feedback on the spot via videos which would be an asynchronous process. Not to discourage learning online at all, just saying that good coaching helps A LOT

Wow great video on hybrids👍, hi I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I have bought a preowned pure strike 16x19 PO7, with a surprisingly nice hybrid setup. I was aiming for a lighter and maneuverable frame with great control. So the mains are set at 59lb and not sure what type of strings, but the cross are at 56lb with babolat rpm blast rough strings. I plan on restringing it one day but idk what the mains or type that I should add. Or what the setup is for, but I do know it has good power and comfort with stiff strings and no shock due to the string savers. Thanks any response would be helpful.😀

I string a lot of racquets at my club, so I'd say I'm a semi-professional stringer. For the mains, use a poly to enhance the spin on your Pure Strike. For the mains, use a MF string. Try different ones to see what feel you prefer. That said, on't get too hung on this! Like is said in cycling: why spend an extra $1,000 on parts to drop 4 oz from your bike when you could've knocked off 5 pounds cutting some crap from your diet?! Buy a racquet you like that fits your level, put a respectable hybrid setup on it, and go practice your strokes (and damnit, THINK out there!) My concern with your racquet is with your string tension. Those tensions are, IMO, unnecessarily high. Today's spin-friendly open-string patterns coupled with polyester strings add tons of control. These strings are relatively unforgiving. There's no need to torture your arm further and reduce feel by jacking up your string tension. I don't recall the PS' tension range, but I'd probably string that stick at poly: 50, MF: 53. I've heard Nadal has even used tensions in the high 30s (!!!) on his Aeropro, so explore and have fun with it, just like Rafa the GOAT.

Why not just go to a smart court and test the two setups. Maybe a couple of different tensions. Then you will know.

Hybrid stringing for recreational players is nothing more than a way to market something that has long become unnecessary. Hybrids were first used to soften the string bed of a poly string job, back when polys were monofilament and very stiff. With the invention of soft co-polys, that work around has long been an anachronism. In addition, the co-efficient of friction is so different between the two strings, that the poly rapidly saws most soft synthetics to pieces. The industry is always trying to find ways to make amateurs string more often,. This is just the latest scam. Anybody who pushes hybrids onto ignorant customers is selling snake oil.
