I don't think we will see a Queen in Ridley's films........ But I'm praying for Shaw to have become "Biomechanoid." look at Giger's Biomechanoid paintings....... something Giger was very fond of and Ridley loved Giger's art and Alien. Those mountains with human skulls on them in Prometheus where the ship was stored is a Giger painting. Ridley will definitely put more art from Giger in his Alien films.

I like the theory, but I don't anticipate it happening. I wouldn't be surprised at all if David kills her or subjects her to experimentation. What I'm really wondering is that if David will experiment with Walter's advanced bio-mechanics to influence the development of the Xenomorphs. I don't think it's mere coincidence that they focused so much on his construction in the "Meet Walter" video.

Nathan Jones I'm glad you said this only because I watched Lawrence of Arabia recently. Ridley really likes that film. Ya know that scene in Alien 1 where Parker and Brett keep talking and everything everybody says Brett just replies "Right." ??? Ridley took that scene right from Lawrence of Arabia. Conversation happens same way. General keeps just saying "Right" to Lawrence. Most importantly why I even commented, is that film is very odd for David to like. Seems like his favorite film. Which in truth is about a stranger among men. A blonde blue eyes sophisticated gentleman. Who carries the lives of other men toward freedom or damnation. The fact that specifically David loves this movie (I assume because Peter liked it) screams god complex.

Re: God complex, it sure does! Given the nature of David Lean's film, it would seem difficult to imagine that it didn't chime with David in some profound way. So many parallels. David has some similarities of manner with Lawrence too: is he half-witted to mess about like that, or just bloody-minded? Does he have a boon for humanity in mind, or is he some darker rendition of a messianic return? LoArabia is a classic film. Not too surprising that it would be a favourite of Scott's. It's my own most favourite film, not that I identify with Scott or David haha - I watch it every few years. I love the dialogue the most. Such a pity there are not films like that anymore. Probably what makes it so special, in a sense.

Alien 3 was horrendous, for starters there is absolutely no explanation as to how two face huggers happened to be on board with them, and just when you think they're going to explain it, all Bishop says is "it was with us all the way" but how did it get there? also not a single character in the movie was likeable. other than Ripley, you didn't care about anyone. it has moments of being decent but it was not a good film. I've watched both versions and both were not great. You cannot kill three fan favorites in the first 4 minutes.

Interesting. To me, it would make sense for Shaw to be transforming/mutating, but it might not all be due to David's interference after reaching Paradise. I suspect she's been undergoing a kind of changing/mutation process for quite some time. In Prometheus, Shaw was impregnated by Holloway which resulted in the Trilobite, but that might not have been the only effect Holloway's mutated DNA had on her. It could be that Shaw was still undergoing slow changes and mutations due to the merging of her DNA with that of Holloway's, even after the Trilobite was removed from her.

JRAndrach I have to agree with you. Also, remember when David, removed Shaw's cross "to check for possible contamination"? Well prior to Holloway's death, there is the scene in which he approaches the mirror to examine himself, and you see him remove his ring, leaving it on the side, which Shaw later puts on after his death. So this object would definitely be contaminated too. So yes, knowing how fast acting and virulent the black goo is, I would think Shaw, is overwhelmingly infected and will definitely be going under some form of mutation.

Some dermal staples and a shot of space morphine doesn't fix that. But her mutated biology sealing does. Shaw was always doomed, and I said that two minutes after seeing that movie.

Hitfilm University it could be the mutated DNA, however Adrenaline is an amazing thing. There have been accounts throughout history where severely wounded soldiers who have suffered: limb loss, drastic abdominal damage, head injuries, including those that still have a knife firmly imbedded in their skull, and other life threatening injuries have managed to not only survive but continue to fight for several weeks until the shooting finally stops, or they reach safety by which point they either drop dead, or get the medical attention they need.

Michelle Luka Fair point. I'm not convinced by it, mind you, because we're still talking about all her abs being sliced clean through to her womb. Adrenaline or not, that's her core/center of gravity, and without those muscles, you can't stand! Modern C-sections slice vertically between the abdominals to not actually cut the muscles, not horizontally, severing them. If the autodoc could reattach those muscles instantly, then it also could have closed the dermal layers, thus not needing dermal staples. My wife argues the injection Shaw took was some sort of regen drug. Another fair argument--although I'd buy that more if injected in the abdomen, not leg. Obviously we'll see what is revealed in Covenant, but I've always believed Shaw was infected by the mutagen and doomed to either slow death or metamorphosis. :-)

That could be another theory, maybe her wounds are so deep that once on that juggernaut ship, her health would take a steep drop and it could be this that causes David to use the black goo to save her. I am sure he would never intentionally hurt her, he formed a bond with her from the moment she entered cryo-sleep where he would watch her dreams. But like you say, who knows. I do love the thought of David just flat out unmercifully betraying her and just experimenting on her in the most horrific H.R. Giger kind of way. The hologram is definitely showing the moment Dr. Shaw's death or transformation. Right before that tail is shown you can see behind all that static that her mouth is open, she is in agony. And in the very last frame if you look closely you can see what it seems to be a facehugger. So probably what I thought it was a tentacle is in fact a facehugger's tail. I think this shows the first time David manages to kickstart the xenomorph reproduction cycle, and Shaw is who starts this cycle. This is also the same for the engineer in Alien (1979), so in a future installment, if David is not destroyed by the end of Covenant, he could have been responsible for that as well.

Well, it's not only what to see, but what the clues tell you: 1) You see a close up of Dr. Shaw's ID, 2) You see the a human shape, comparatively small in relation to the chair, which is made for an engineer 3) the human shape could only be Shaw or David, the only ones who made it to the planet before the Covenant; It is not David, because androids do not serve as hosts for alien parasites 4) I don't think that whoever made the trailer would use a song that goes "Take me Home" when David despises the human kind and would hate to be taken back home where he would probably be terminated.

In the most recent trailer they play the song, "Country Road", by John Denver. In the trailer, the song abruptly ends before the words, "mountain mamma". I fully expected them to show a Queen right then. But then I got to thinking about the rest of the lyrics, some of which I think hold clues to what happened to Shaw. stephen power the way he worded it, was that he liked the premise and the concept but was NOT fond of how his creature evolved from a singular organism to a hive creature and cited that the creation of the hive society was the next logical step and that Cameron did execute it perfectly. Even though it's been 10 years on earth since Prometheus took off, it's not necessarily the same on Paradise. Given how little the crews' ages change and there is no wormhole concept involved in the alien movies, the Covenant crews probably have traveled close to speed of light to get to the remote planet. According to theory of relativity, it could be much longer than 10 years on planet Paradise?

I alreay said it once and I am doing it again: Giving the aliens a concrete origin is the worst thing they could do with the franchise because it retcons all the horror the original movie originally tried to get across: The horror of something unknown which exceeds our perception. It was a fundamental part of H.P. Lovecrafts horror and it was also featured in Alien but now the aliens seem to be a product of (human/android) experiments. Alien was scary because the crew of the Nostromo had to deal with a being beyond their comprehensive abilities and not comparable to anything humans encountered ever before. Well..

I think there is a slim possibility of something like that happening to Shaw as a result of what David is messing with, but I think it's too early in the timeline for it to manifest a queen like we come to think of in Aliens. Did no one pay attention to Prometheus but me? Shaw has sex. Somehow Shaw starts bearing a squid. Obviously the Engineer mutagen spreads via bodily fluids. Obviously Shaw's DNA was being rewritten already. This also explains why she was able to get up and frigging RUN immediately after having her entire abdominal wall sliced open--dermal staples and a shot of space morphine didn't do that. Shaw was doomed long before Prometheus ended. It's all in that movie, guys... To change topics "Rogue One" is considered a movie fixing a plot hole that was never a plot hole. Any real world reactor has an exhaust vent to radiate excess heat... A 6 foot wide shaft, 500 miles long leading to the Death Star reactor core was never a plot hole or bad design, but a necessary feature that properly should have been there.

Something is laying eggs in the spacecraft and we know from past they come from a Queen. What if David didn't do anything to Shaw, but that contact with her partner resulted in a slow mutation into becoming a Queen. He then creates the Xenomorph egg through his studies stranded on the planet which he unleases on the Covenant crew. Remember Neomorph (white alien) is from contact with Black goo. Xenomorph is from human embryo implantation. Oh and he also plays another robot called Walter who is dumb and very mindless because David scared folks how real he was. Weyland-Yutani said the David model had "Issues". So Walter was created to serve. I guarantee we will see a scene where someone gets ripped apart and Walter just stands there doing something very robotic. He might be the comic relief. Danny McBride is gonna steal the show I hope. I got a feeling his performance will be really good.

In Prometheus Shaw speaks about her infertility, so the idea of her eventually becoming a Xenomorph Queen and giving birth to a whole new species actually makes sense in the story arc. Although we are running down some crazy rabbit holes here :-)

I must have missed something. Where is the scene with a tentacle and Shaw? And yes, I can totally see David taking the bioengineering process to new creepy, awful levels, and experimenting on people. What an idea - imagine some innocent, naive crew like on Star Trek, discovers a planet, run by an ancient android who has been monkeying with humanity's DNA after killing the original bioengineers and taking over their projects. What a delightfully sinister thing to discover out there in space.

Since reading this topic, if we are speculating that Shaw becomes a Queen, it might make sense to also remember she gave birth to one at some point and lived. Maybe this is the justification for David morphing her into one or it mightve happened on its own.

Well remember in Prometheus when the two members of the crew that were stuck in the ship got infected? Maybe that's what David allow happen to Shaw while she was in possible in sleep mode. What if in sleep mode, the whatever the thing/creature was, is also in sleep mode? She wakes up not only to find the engineers murdered but also to find out that David was, once again, doing shit behind her back? Or somehow while in sleep she was morphing slowly? She sends out a beacon and boom tentacle is coming out.

It's a 50/50 thing here. Meaning that in the trailers we hear David say "He learned of their ways" either he learned about the zenomorphs or he learned about the real engineer plans. If he learned of the zenos he would not have created a queen because it would jeopardize his existence due to the unstable mind of the instinctually fueled mind of the zenos. If he learned of the engineers plans/ways he would create a Zeno planet in order to combat the threat the engineers have planned. Like I said it's 50/50 plus there are more movies planned for this franchise by Ridley Scott that will definitely expand on the lore of this particular franchise.

Couple of things regards the 'tentacle' or 'tail' coming out of Shaw's back. Firstly, if you look at the holographic surge emanating out from the source when it happens, it could be what is being seen is the holographic data climbing the walls/structure behind her, it actually times in nicely with the 'surge' pulse between cuts. Secondly, if it is something bursting out of her/tail; why isn't it being shown in the same manner as other organic material within the hologram, i.e. crackling white noise/sonographic type visuals? They are quite different. Just a thought!

Thank you, Buddy, for making a video about this based on our theories. Plus, Shaw's distorted face in the hologram speaks volumes on this topic as well. But also, I believe another twist would be that maybe Shaw got into the black goo by circumstance while aboard the Juggernaut and David actually had a change of heart after its journey with her and went into Bishop mode as an android. I have a feeling Walter may be the deceptive one. On another note, Ridley introducing Cameron's queen idea into this is definitely something I'm sure he'd love to have a pat on the back about.

this is my theory again, I don't think in the movie David and Shaw had differences. First because I believe that Shaw rebuilt David and therefore he is actually obligated to stay at her will. ( almost like any Husband) Everyone feels bad for the Engineers for being whipped out, what about if Shaw found out, that Engineers were about to whipe out the Human race and so saved the Human race with the only Weapons available.. which is in fact the Black Goo.

personally, I think david's creation of the xenomorph species makes sense. the android in the original alien was absolutely in awe in how perfect of a lifeform the alien is. so I think David, being a much older model, would too find interest in such a species. an ongoing theme of creators and creations can be seen here, with the xenomorph species being a "grandson" of humanity. David was only replicating what he saw humans do; improve upon life just a few thoughts I had.

Does any one else think that the species movies and aliens trilogy is the same universe and the genetic formula that the scientist received to make the species creature was from the engineers, probably not sent to them directly but maybe they stumbled upon the signal that was meant for other engineers a signal lost after the catastrophe on paradise.

So much to ask? I think a Lot has already been explained via Prometheus. 1.) Is Shaw now an alien queen? First in Prometheus we see one man infected with a drop of black substance change but not completely or as fast as another guy who whole face was exposed to it. He had sex with Shaw basically impregnanting her with an alien. (honestly it's like he proto facehuged her) which made a proto facehugger. just because she removed the proto alien in her doesn't mean she removed the rest of his sperm/ infected from her. Note she could have displayed accelerated healing being able to run/climb/ fight just after having a alien removed via c section. probably Shaw was already becoming a queen seeing she was growing a proto facehugger inside her. Its possible by the time she reached the engineers planet she was already well into mutation. I don't think David had to do it he was probably detached from his body a while. 2.) bio mechanism on the aliens? notice in Prometheus the engineers in the opening scene do no have the bio mechanical armor, suits on earth. jump forward to the engineer who woke up...and clearly his suit was one with his body. maybe the suits have a fluid which interacts with or is techno organic to their species. Also note on every alien film and image of a alien a fluid is coming from thier mouth of which turns into the compound of which they coat walls and environments in. its possible all David did was combine the engineers suits with a natural ability to secret the fuild from those skin and in mass qauntities from their mouth to create a habitat. look at all new born aliens different color and also lack of armor etc. also take note of the space jockey in Alien. who's suit was fused to his chair/ him / and the room.

The Alien franchise has always been based on the worst case scenario happening.Considering the squid/facehugger creature that came out of her uterus in Prometheus, it would not surprise me if this scenario would happen. Take a look at the traditional facehuggers "belly", it has what looks like a vagina, then a tube comes out (another take on the fallopian tube of a female?) and impregnates a host in this reverse conception. Now incorporating how the black goo disintegrates dna and then rebuilds it makes this more than plausible. I just hope xenomorphs dont get menopause hehe ;)

Maybe that "tentacle" is actually the tail of some sort of xeno and that clip that the covenant crew find is actually Shaw's distress beacon before said xeno (maybe sent by David, some how?) kills her.

I'm pretty sure, "the tentacle thing" is the holographic pulse illuminating the edge of the chair that she's sat in. In the trailer the hologram keeps emitting a pulse that goes over the surface of the room. So I don't believe that she's mutated, dying or transforming in that scene. (She's just piloting the ship or sat at the controls)

The Classic Xeno is clearly visible in the relief sculpture housed in the Urn Room in Prometheus. Ergo: David didn't create Xeno's, unless this is revisionist history, a concept I don't care for.

Shaw never removed the Trilobytes alien placenta from inside her uterus, after birthing the creature. She ripped out her umbilical cord by yanking it out, but the placenta was left inside her, and her wound was then stapled shut. Some theories suggest that she becomes an alien queen. This information could possibly further that theory.

Looked like the curved part of the chair to me... Shaw seemed relaxed as she was flying the ship, like she was used to to it. Also, one of the alternate angles it looked like she was wearing an engineer helmet.

It's also known because of the movie Aliens that these Eggs have to be laid. They are not just molded by Davids hand. So around there, David is hiding a proto-xenomorph Mother who is large enough to lay those full sized Face Hugger Eggs. Perhaps Shaw was somewhere hidden? Not dead by hidden away as a creepy hybrid Monster? Like the old question "Which came first the Chicken of the Egg?"

My theory is that Shaw probably experienced complications due to the hurried C-section and the stress from the events at the end of Prometheus, after re-assembling David she probably sought his assistance with recovery and he probably used that opportunity to experiment with either turning her into a Xenomorph or used her as an incubator as it was shown in Prometheus that the black goo affects even the reproductive material of other species rather than using them as a host. Now, what's most important to consider is whether the Engineers were already, or if David/Shaw played a part in it. Both scenarios are viable due to a variety of reasons but what makes me debate whether David was involved or not was how would he have the means to wipe out an entire species. I'm guessing that David contributed to the tweaking of the Xenomorph species perhaps thru genetic splicing and the combination of Engineer and human DNA mixed with the black goo. Its hard to say really there are a few options for what could have happened.

I think it would be cool if Shaw was transformed into a Xenomorph Queen due to the effects of giving birth to a Xenomorph. Like the stuff that makes a Xenomorph integrated itself with her cells in a way that transformed her over time rather than creating a chest burster. David might have acted in vengeance when dropping the Xenomorph cloud on the Engineers due to the devolution into a monster that Shaw would have gone through. This could give credence to the deeper relationship David was insinuating earlier in the film, and give more layers to his motivations. Going further, I think it would be neat to explore David, the 'perfect' creation of man, facing off against man's baser instincts and traits such as vengeance. There's a lot that could be done with Broodmother Shaw. Maybe David was experimenting and growing the Xenomorph at her behest. Maybe he killed the Engineers at her command. If she's a Xenomorph, and David considers them the next step towards perfection, he might look at a transformed Shaw as his leader.
