THANKS! I just replaced my clutch actuator fluid on my IONIQ hybrid.. Since I don't have a lift at home, I did it from the top.. I just removed the air intake hose (because it was blocking my view), and put a tube into the clutch actuator fluid reservoir (hourrah - it has no filter like the break fluid reservoir), and siphoned out the old one. Then I put the new DOT 4 into the reservoir the same way -- same hose in fact. Took maybe an hour. Would have been better to lift it up and clean the reservoir, but that was too difficult.
@slacmd10 ай бұрын
I use a turkey baster every/every other oil change. I empty it from the top until just before it reaches the hose at the bottom(I figured I don't want air in the lines like regular brake fluid.) then I fill it with fresh fluid. If its really bad, or if I skipped a clutch cleaning on the last oil change.. then I do it again a week later. seems to be working so far. lol

Jose, keep up the videos. You're doing a fantastic job. * On the Brake Fluid topic. In the video you're using the "regular" Amsoil DOT 3&4,. What's your take on the AMSOIL SERIES 600 DOT 4 which is almost double the price of the regular one and has better specs? Would you be comfortable using the 600 series and replace it every 24 Months? * It would also be very useful if you share with us the state of a Amsoil Brake fluid after 20k km or more, just to compare it with the OEM Break Fluid. * I saw your below comment on the purging of air in the actuator system; are you saying that the system automatically purges the air? When you're replacing the fluid are you also cleaning the pipes?

Have you ever had to clean the valves on Ioniq or Niro? Any preventative maintenance for keeping valves clean?
@cullenkline68938 ай бұрын
Since its a GDI engine, they all require carbon cleaning of intake valves. Just a design flaw. Replace pcv valve to reduce buildup. The buildup will reoccur. Simply remove intake manifold, 3/4 valves will be open/closed and the other will have to be closed after cleaning the first 3. Spray valve cleaner, agitate w brush/zip ties, but ideally walnut blasting or baking soda. Clean out w shop vac and let air dry.
@cullenkline68938 ай бұрын
You can also run a hose through a vacuum line into the intake but it really doesn't do it justice in GDIs over 50k miles. Recommended to so this service around 100k miles.

not saying Amsoil isn't good oil but not the best for cars that the engine shuts off all the time the best is GTX MAGNATEC Full Synthetic Motor Oil by Castrol is made to keep the most oil in the engine when it turns off! The most damage is done when the engine starts and has the least oil in it GTX MAGNATEC sticks inside the engine better than any other oil was a huge deal when it came out. haven't done deep research in oil since 2019 but haven't seen any other oil company's claiming their oil stays up in the engine better so pretty sure its still the best. that claims 75% more wear protection vs MAGNATEC has 6x protection aka 600% more wear protection. the sad part is its hard to find ( sold out at Walmart 99% of the time) and no oil change places carry it if you want it you have to buy it and take it to them or do it yourself. watched hoping you would know about it but learned I should change the clutch fluid lol!

All oil last the same amount of time the same model of car the up to xxx miles is just BS marketing nothing more but their is better and worse oil. It has to do with tolerances in engine to how quick the oil gets dirty why every model car is different miles per oil change so never go over your cars recommended oil change interval no matter what the oil says because it also says use your cars recommended interval for that very reason
