I also discovered that VTOL affects your forward speed, especially in the Terrapin, if you have your VTOL on it goes forward REAAALY slow, but as soon as you deactivate it, the ship accelerates much faster forward.

Absolutely love this series Hybrid! When I was watching your new MFD's video I had an idea while seeing your friends practice their take off and landings (amazing skills btw :D) I don't know how the logistics would work but maybe one day we could have a take-off and landing competition, organize it in the discord or something, might be a fun event to hold haha. Anyways keep up the great content mate awesome work!

Sooo... I'm new to the verse, for almost a week now and chose the Aurora MR as my starter for the reason of being the cheapest as I'm in Canada not the US making the game almost twice the price. I mostly land by going straight to the hangar head-on no matter if the doors are either on the side or on the roof and then adjust inside the hangar to land. There was one time I panicked and crashed close to the hangar doors on Seraphim Station during a blockade as I was getting shot by reds. I don't use the repeaters anymore as I lost them during a bounty mission where I died mid-combat smashing onto what I suspect to be a deathzone as I originally thought I smashed to an asteroid but to nothing on a retrieval attempt as I saw my repeaters weren't on my ship as I retrieved it from the hangar as I used my multi-tool to attach it.

If you have the velocity vector indicator set to "always on", you can point straight down to put the velocity indicator on the spot where you want to land, then switch to Decoupled mode (with gravity compensation turned off) and then simply rotate your ship back to horizontal with the HUD's horizon line. Your ship will then drift downwards to land where you aimed the velocity indicator (you'll need to slow your descent with your throttle). Lowering landing gear during this process will also dramatically slow your descent.

VTOL is nice for a quick vertical take off but I wish they were a bit more significant for landings. Maybe stopping or slowing down your descend should be more difficult without VTOL :)

for anyone doubting whether VTOL works or not and has access to the game: just go rent a cutlass and then take off and land again and repeat, once without and once with VTOL. personally i think you notice it the most with the cutlass

@@qawa2205 i mean, yeah, thats what VTOL does, its just that the cutlass' main thrusters are so massive in relation to the rest of the ship that you really notice it with that ship

@@derdox6720 The Cutlass also tends to slow to a crawl (horizontal speed) with the VTOLs active. There doesn't seem to be much forward thrust available with them rotated to the vertical.

5:34 The air shield is really "hard", since about 3.23. When you fly through the air shield, the controls sometimes go haywire. At least that is my observation.

There's a lot of hangars atm that have some sort of invisible geometry. I'm running into it with the XL hangars at NB, which makes taking off with an 890 / Reclaimer next to impossible.

I really hate having XL hangar when I tend to use small ships most of the time :) Does make it easy to point C2 ramp at the cargo elevator.

No one uses VTOLs because the keybinds for it SUCKS on the keyboard. You are pulling your hand off the mouse or the WASD to hit Alt+K. You're dancing your hand halfway across the keyboard for a mechanic that has barely any effect when landing.

Does Mustang have any vertical thrust capabilities? There's a VTOL switch in the cockpit, but I tried to notice any difference and... Failed. No moving flaps or anything like it.

my c1 did the exact same thing, caught something invisible on the right wing in lorville, this isnt mine tho, but i can confirm the bug. and you cant land a c1 with vtol, if one is missing, cause it will put it into a spin.
