use high voltage ac electric field to break oxide compounds inside a dielectric, like in a break down voltage capacitor, then vacuum the freed oxygen out of the metal/oxide powder, free to use, no patents, does not require high temperature electrolysis, kind of low temperature electrolysis with high electric fields (ac or dc)

also, you could get a ton of weed grass from fields, can pour that with the iron oxide, then heat, gasify, it will provide both hydrogen and carbon, carbon monoxide, to the metal making blast furnace process

@@Jkauppa or you could just spend a s**tload of taxpayer money on creating a hydrogen plant of which you need energy equivalent of 3-4 big nuclear powerplant when the whole country is suffering from an energy crisis and going through stagflation. HYBRIT or as we like to call in Sweden Hybris is that project that looks good for a person without basic physics or economic knowledge but for anyone with any economic sense it knows this is economic suicide green steel would have to be at least 10 times more expensive for this to even break even.

For steel you stil need coal right ? Isnt coal a fossil fuel ?

That's the whole point. You use Hydrogen instead of Coal.
