My first crash in an S282 was caused because I forgot I had to turn the air compressor on, so I ended up having brakes right until I didn't. Downhill, at speed. I could hear Kenosha in the distance.

first s282 was when i forgot to hook up air brakes coming into the iron mine cuz i thought i could run without em wich i realised i couldnt stop at the iron mine and i was going 50 without realising then i tried switching to a different track tk save it but i didnt read the switch correct and i was picking up speed( i crashed through the buffers ) ( also i accidently did a loop when i was pulling like 23 or sum laden hoppers

A small pointer for future reference: Should you happen to get to your lost and found and retrieve everything, you can use the lantern as a cab light for the 2-8-2. There are small platforms on either side of the tender front that I'd been using for that purpose.

You derailed after the tunnel in hte north where the rail line crosses the east-west ravine. It's a tricky place, because the line speed at the end of the tunnel and on the bridge is 70, then after the bridge three sings signalling speed limits of 80,60 and 40 are very close to eachother.You just missed the 40 sign. If you don't start braking at the 80 sign you can easily derail.

The speed signs in derail valley have up and down arrows on them. If you see an up arrow that means the speed will be higher up ahead. Down arrow means slower speed ahead. So if you see a down arrow don’t accelerate!!

Saw at first four minutes, time taken to write comment: first 6-7 minutes… You referred to the bigger driver 2-8-2 as a “high-stepper” previously. I’ve heard of the 3900 series UP Challengers (3977, 3985, etc) called “high-stepping Challengers” by the crews in the 40s and 50s, but they don’t have tall drivers as I know them. Where does the term come from and how is it properly applied, Hyce? I’m curious now. Military it is pronounced “Lee”+”Ma”. Ohio pronounces it “Lie”+”Ma”, even though the town founders went with the former as the name, same pronunciation as the capital of Peru. The locals decided to change the pronunciation 10 years after the founding because they had switched which political US party they wanted to vote for vs the founding namer’s party, and marketing beans called “Lima” (Lie+Ma) despite them actually being the common Butter Bean found everywhere else… political marketing by a population to change the pronunciation of their town name just to stick it to the founders’ political party after his death… only to swap again which party they predominantly voted for again 10 years after that back to the founders’ party… at which point, only then did the locomotive company in town finally join the pronunciation swap some decades after that again, leading to the decades of the Lima (Lee Ma) Locomotive Works of Lima (Lie Ma) Ohio confusion… since it was now the 40s and it was patriotic to all match up and show support for FDR’s party in doing so. I'm surprised you don't know that you can pick the spot on the tracks to rerail stuff, so when you do several cars like that, you start some distance away from the pile of cars and then place the next one as close to the first car or loco as it will allow, that gives you space to get them all back on the tracks and then you just have to couple them up.
