How old was Kippee when she passed? I used to have a Chicken called Jackson that I adored. Loved his curiosity.

Thank you for the information, I just got an Hydnophytum papuanum and I'm researching their needs. The specific epithet is actually in honour of Henry Nottidge Moseley (1844-1891), a British naturalist. The genus name comes from the ancient Greek word ύδνον (eethnon) for "edible mushrooms", used by Dioscorides and Theophrastus (not used in modern Greek though) and the word φυτό(ν) (feetón/phytón) which means plant. This plant definitely doesn't look like a mushroom though, I think Linnaeus and the gang sometimes opened up an ancient dictionary and just picked whatever sounded fun or weird, hihihi!! 😂 Have a great weekend!! ☺️

Idk if mine is diseased or not but its leaves look like they are becoming woody & then fall off😰 I've had it for over a year & its bloomed for me so I don't know why it's suddenly miserable.

I have a question! I have one of these in a pot, I've had it for about 3 weeks. The leaves looked sad so I watered it yesterday, and now the bulb at the bottom is wrinkly and soft. Some of the leaves are falling off and all of them are totally limp. It's standing at about 17C right now, so probably too cold? Will more heat be enough?

You should read before you make these. It’s named for Moseley Island, which is an island in New Guinea, it’s not based on mausoleums. 🤣

Do you know if anyone has ever tried growing the plant in a terrarium with ants? Would a plant like this ever attract ants? If it did have a relationship with ants, what would the ants be doing for it?
@JohnJames.5 жыл бұрын
The ants live inside and feed it with their poop

@@JohnJames. Thanks! Do you know if they also defend it from pests or do they just feed it?
@JohnJames.5 жыл бұрын
@@Michellandau , depends on the pest, in my yard ants farm aphids and scale, so annoying. I would think that they would want to keep the host plant happy so , maybe they would keep pest away, ants also have a sort of relation with peonies. In my garden the ants sip the sap of the growing flower buds, so I don't see them farming because of the easy food source, and they encourage blooming,
