RetroSound Maybe the last 10 years, but I do love this synth!! Imo its like the next iteration of a DSI Pro 2 but less money. A Sequential Pro 3 is about the only thing that could distract me from acquiring this machine. For right now...The Hydrasynth is King of the reasonably priced synths!!

Well I ordered my Hydra in September and it arrived a week ago. The first day playing thru the presets kinda bummed me. Then two days later I watched Nick Batts review again on sonic lab. Nicks reviews are basically mini tutorials. After getting my head around the interface I started creating my own sounds from scratch using the best synth interface I’ve ever used in my 35 years of owning too many synths to list here. THIS SYNTH IS JUST AMAZING. It’s an all digital animal but It can spit and growl and gurgle like a rabid Kracken. It’s the kinda synth a romulan would bring to audition for a Klingon band playing music written by a Vulcan. The filters really are Alive. They don’t sound digital to my ears and give my moog a run for its money. It appears that digital synths have finally reached a new level of musicality and those harsh upper harmonics are gone. The resonance of the HydraSynth is juicy. It’s truly capable of some very fresh tones but you gotta work for it and learn the hows-abouts of the interface. once you grasp it there’s so much fun to be had. Brilliant achievement.

Sure wish I could buy one of these in China. Still unavailable, I've never been so disappointed at waiting for a synth as much as I have been every time I hear this thing and search Taobao of Jingdong and see it is STILL unavailable. I understand of course, the market for synths isn't a huge one in China, I am just selfishly longing to own one of these beautiful synths. One day...

Apart from the sound generation and the brilliant UI the effects seem to outclass many synths of established brands. However (I‘ll repeat this in every comment): Pleeease make a 5-octave version! 4 octaves is like a 3-wheeled car for me, i.o.w.: a dealbreaker.
@mitsanut58695 жыл бұрын
Yes, I like big machines, too. I don't like splitting the keyboard to different sound sections and moving the octaves up and down. Once I select the sound, it is critical for me that it is the same sound all over the keybed. That forces me to be on the side of having multiple keyboards but I really don't mind as any top synth has something special to offer that others do not. This one sounds bit too digital to me, kind of really cold sound but I keep watching it, anyway. But like you said, the small keybed is really a turnoff. Just because they offer the octave switch feature does not mean I will accept it and go for it. I am bit of an old school where keyboard players were surrounded by all kinds of keyboards. I was always into that kind of keyboard playing. So yes, I like this instrument but as long as it is just this size, thanks but no, thanks.

Perhaps get the desktopversion and use midicontroller(s)?
@RayyMusik5 жыл бұрын
There aren’t many midi controllers with poly AT, and they‘re expensive. I dislike modules because they usually have less knobs/more menu diving. Like mitsa nut, I‘m just an old-school keyboardist who likes to play octaves with the left and ‘jazzy’ voicings with the right hand; 4 octaves don’t work for me.

I think this is an awesome synth and would certainly buy one, but I don´t understand why the limitation on voices... I mean, a purely digital synth and it is almost 2020, the virus was launched several years ago and even then it was possible to have 16 parts multi timbral and over 80 voices... The Hydrasynth could easily be the new Virus TI.
@AshunSoundMachines4 жыл бұрын
HI, we decided to make the price in a range that most people could afford. The Virus TI2 without a poly aftertouch keyboard or 4 octave ribbon and with only preset wavetables, is currently $2915. That is $1,616 more expensive than the Hydrasynth keyboard. We chose to give the Hydrasynth a much deeper voice engine at a much better price instead.
