This was the only video where I finally felt like I learned what I needed to know about hydrocolloid dressings!

I had a scooter accident in Bali last week... came off my scooter at about 70km per hour after hitting a giant pothole in the road. I slide along the hot asphalt grating my shoulder, knees, elbows and hands. I was left with really bad abrasions. Went to the nearest "doctor" who barely did anything and sent me on my way after prescribing the best antibiotic for this situation. I went to a med clinic the next morning who cleaned the wounds properly to get rid of the dirt and dust still in my skin! OUCH!!! They applied new dressings which were of the old fashioned gauze variety. I experience so much pain and discomfort. 2 days later the next dr. applied the same gauze dressing having to clean and scrape away all kinds of horrible! So I lay in bed in agony and did some research. I found this video about HYDROCOLLOID and went to the pharmacy the next day and bought 6 x HYDROCOLLOID patches to take to the dr to replace my dressing. The situation improved immediately after they applied them over my severe wounds. I will update this comment in 1 week after i have them checked and replaced. So far pain has been reduced and my body is happier.

I had a bike accident, using one on my forehead and knee post-stitches. Only bandages I can take baths in, so I'm not stanky ahaha.

@@lazurm sorry for the late reply! The hydrocolloids worked very well on the areas where I had medium depth scrapes spread over a very large area of my shoulders arms and back. The wounds healed quickly and there was no pain from dressing changes as they stay on for about a week and come off so easily keeping the healing tissue perfectly intact which is the main benefit as well as being able to shower as they are totally waterproof. They didn’t work so well for me on my ankles and feet which had very deep grazing all the through the skin to the flesh. The healing took forever and there was significant pain when I walked I could feel lots of pressure from my blood as I stood upright. It took a very long time maybe 4 weeks to heal and there is scar tissue but that’s because all the skin scraped off on the road. I think on the smaller deep wounds on feet I would have preferred my body to make scabs as I felt like it would have been less painful when walking instead of the moist wound healing process which did take forever. All in all I’ll definitely have hydrocolloids in the house and travel with them!!!

Should I use these on a asphalt burn? It’s basically a 2nd degree burn, leaking a lot of fluid. Skin all the way pilled off from street asphalt

Can I use these on road rash wounds? Also can I use neosporin on the wound and then place the Hydrocolloid bandage over it?
@Sw4mpd0nkey
@Sw4mpd0nkey 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I use them for road rash. Do not use it with any cream. Wash well before hand. If you are concerned about infection then use the neosporin with a different bandage type then once its under control switch to this bandage for it to heal properly. I've used the clear 3M ones for minor road rash as well.

I have never met this type of dressing before. So I was very intrigued when my partner came home with this on a severe wound on his shin. He has had the dressing on since Saturday, and it has bubbled up and looks strange. It looks like the dressing is drawing all the puss/poison out of the wound. I have to put a new on the wound on Wednesday and then he is back at the clinic on Saturday. cant wait to see the outcome.

Lauri Albee you have to let it heal under it and then it will almost come off itself. It removes less skin than it helped grow if you leave it for a few days
