My family lived in PEI from 1988 to 1991. Every summer and Christmas, we'd board the ferry for New Brunswick, and it was always a great time. My brother, sister an I blew all our quarters at the arcades before we even docked. Great footage, brings back a lot of childhood memories.

Thanks for the note Scott. So many people are so nostalgic about the Borden-Tormentine ferry. So sad we now have a bridge but . . .

Thanks for the note. It always brings a lump to my throat especially since two of my friends (in the video) have passed away. It was a special thing for Islanders and a reality check when it was replaced by the bridge. Regards, Henry

I didn’t know they stopped after the bridge was built. I took it a couple times on family trips when I was a kid. Good memories ☺️

Hi Linda: The Wood Islands to Nova Scotia ferry still runs. I have to say I think the ferry was better introduction to arriving on PEI.

Henry Dunsmore, as I remember from my trip on the ferry in the summer of '83, the starting point was Cape Tormentine. Is it TORE-men-tine, or TORE-men-teen?
@StudioGallery3 жыл бұрын
I've only heard it used as TORE-men-tine.

I'm sorry I can't answer your query. I believe it was decommissioned and turned into a unique attraction i.e restaurant, casino? Just guessing! Perhaps someone will come forward with the info.

Was this video recorded when the Confederation Bridge was still being built?
@StudioGallery7 жыл бұрын
The video was done on the last ferry ride before the opening of the bridge i.e. the bridge was ready to go. H

Henry Dunsmore interesting, the boat looks just like MV holiday Island which is the older boat that we have for the PEI ferry up here in Nova Scotia. I wonder if the boat featured in this video is MV holiday Island, before it was handed down to the Nova Scotia ferry terminal.
@liamcarroll50147 жыл бұрын
It is! Well, it might be, because it had a twin called the Vacationland. They scrapped that one and kept the holiday island for NFL.
