I have used prettymuch all types of filtration. As far as Hang on the Back types, i still have a Seachem Tidal 35 and a couple Aquaclear filters. I have had to replace the impeller assemblies on the Aquaclears twice, but I have been using them for about 7 years now. I like the design of the Hygger HOB. Forcing the water to go through all the filter media to me means it will produce a much cleaner tank, but the true test is how long it needs to go before the flow starts slowing down indicating a need for a good cleaning. I can go several months on my aquaclears and Seachem HOBs before a cleaning is needed. In tanks that one would feel a little extra filtration is needed beyond what the Hygger can provide, simply adding a water stone or a small sponge filter would increase water flow or filtration in the case of the sponge filter. My wife likes silent operation so the Hygger definitely has that going for it. If i have a failure in my existing filters, i will probably try one of these out.

Against most of the comments here, but I have watched a few reviews of this filter... The overall feelings are that it is a good filter... But, you should go for twice the recommended capacity of recommendation for your tank, So one recommended for a 60ltr (15Gal) double it up... Otherwise they are really good filters with a great amount of piping and media supplied... I have not used one, but I'm looking to get one for my 60ltr which is stocked with 12 Bloodfin Tetra's and Four Amano Shrimp and mid planted. I feel that it will be a very good filter for those smaller tanks indeed.

thanks for the clarifications. a filter is a filter. you always have to buy a stronger filter, especially if you can set the water flow

I doubt that the filter can be used in a 60 gallon tank. It looks too small even for a 30 gallon tank. If you don't put many fish in it, maybe it works?
@walstadmethodstepbystep4 ай бұрын
the filter seemed strong to me, and the filtering media enough to support a large aquarium. your aquarium matters a lot, how many fish you have, maintenance, etc... I don't use a filter in my aquarium and everything is fine kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKfYc5inYrqJqck

@@walstadmethodstepbystep oh, I was thinking of a bare bottom fish only tank with many fish. In a heavily planted aquarium, it should work.
@walstadmethodstepbystep4 ай бұрын
@@nunahy i understand. I liked the filter, but I can't tell you how it behaves in the long term or in your aquarium. anyway, if you decide to buy this filter, I have attached a link for a discount in the video description 😃
@@sarah62137 If the filter is placed correctly, the air bubbles will come out on their own over time. Make sure the filter is at the right height and is not tilted. You can try shaking it gently for 10 seconds. It is also possible that air is being drawn in somewhere if filter is not closed properly.
