I just bought it today. It is BRIGHT. I plan on doing a review as well.

Cool! Hope you enjoy it. I just finished my testing and will be releasing my video next week. 🤘

100w.. seems really bright, a good way to slow cook the fish.

If you have it mounted high enough I don’t believe you’ll have an issue. Size of tank, lid or no lid, and light height all play a variable role in thermal retention.

I have been using a Vita LED indoor grow light and they haven’t cooked though I can say it does affect the temp. I know it’s all wrong but it was an experiment. I have had it raise it pretty high so I am excited about this one.

You're gonna need a lot of co2 if you are gonna use that light with the max settings. It looks like a decent light however, without schedules, timers and light control, I think they missed the mark.
@ssaquascapes3 ай бұрын
I like the simple on/off feature. Since I use smart outlets, I can schedule it how I like and not have to reset it after a power outage (which we get weekly here). If you are a more traditional light user, maybe an app control or something would be a nice upgrade to this light. We’ll see what they come up with in the future.
@gunnerneikoifyАй бұрын
It only has one setting.....max, and thats it.

Maybe I’ll try the 60w.
@ssaquascapes2 ай бұрын
I think that will be enough, depending on the aquarium as this 100w is WAY MORE than I need for the current tank I have it on. (Testing and experiment video releasing soon) 🤘

I have owned a large variety of lights including a kessil tuna sun which in my eyes is the most comparable light to the one in this video. My biggest complaint with the kessil tuna sun was the color rendition of fish and I would love to see a close up of how different fish show off their colors under this light, especially those with red coloration. Good review, I look forward to seeing how it does with chlorophyll deficient plants, be careful with many of them as even under high light some are incapable of survival. Anubias Petite Snow White, HC White, and Pogostemon Platinum are some of the species I have heard cannot edure without added sugars, but there are certainly more to add to this list. HC Cuba Mint Green, White Glosostigma and a few of the other white anubias varietals are very difficult but can survive with sufficient lighting.
@ssaquascapes3 ай бұрын
I will say the White Clouds looked really vibrant under this light. But I only had it installed for a few minutes to test the functionality. I am a bit worried to test this light on all the white plants I purchased. As a small KZbinr/channel, these plants are a wee bit pricey. If they just parish, what will that say about the light regardless of my monetary loss😔

Added sugars? never heard of that! how or where can I learn more about it?
@IAMAREALOSPREY3 ай бұрын
@@Sinserg In theory you could add special sugars to an aquarium to allow chlorophyll devoid plants to thrive, but in practice it only works in sterile settings as a wide variety of bacterium and other organisms are more efficient at the uptake when compared to the plants.

@@IAMAREALOSPREY Oh ok I understand, I thought this was something already in practice in the aquarium hobby 🙂

@@Sinserg This is the kind of stuff which exists out there but would require experimentation to put into practice in the hobby, many common practices like CO2 injection were discovered by hobbyists figuring out ways to apply ideas from the lab.

I made it to the end. Not interested in the light, but it will be interesting to see the results.

This type of light is usually way out of the price point I am willing to spend so I checked the link and Hygger has done it again. If this light is as good as it appears to be it is about 40-50% less expensive than the competitors. I am assuming (hoping) there is some way to adjust the color and intensity so you don't get algae growth. Oh, if you slide the light back on the bracket you should get better light coverage.
@ssaquascapes3 ай бұрын
I agree. Good price for sure. Hygger has kept it simple though, no color or intensity settings/adjustment. Literally on or off. But limiting the time with a smart timer you should be able to control algae. All my lights are in a smart outlets and run at 100%. I just figure out the schedule for each aquarium and set the smart outlet in Tuya app. 🤘

Any info on the Amazon 3-year protection plan?
@ssaquascapes2 ай бұрын
I don’t have any info for ya about that. I am assuming it is just Amazon allowing for a return/exchange for 3 years. But again, I am not 100% sure how it works.

Very nice 👍🏼 I'll definitely be checking it out to see if it's the light I've been looking for for a 20 tall with co2. 😊
@ssaquascapes3 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. That it would work well in the UNS tall subscriber tank.
@nathanhoveyaquatics3 ай бұрын
So I've been going back and watching the videos and I went to the link to look into this light more and would it fit on aquariums with the black plastic rims ?
@ssaquascapes3 ай бұрын
@nathanhoveyaquatics so yes, it will go over the plastic rim. BUT, it will fall into the aquarium. The little edge of the inside rim will not support the light. I tried. You would have to trim the inside of the black rim so that the bracket slid over only the glass. So cut a notch in your black plastic rim If you need to fit this light. Very similar to how I did for the LANDEN lily pipes on the 75 gallon aquarium. That clip should be in part two of the 150 nano fish build.
@nathanhoveyaquatics3 ай бұрын
@@ssaquascapes ok thanks. I had to do the same trimming for a Nicrew nano light that I wanted on a 20 gal with the plastic rim and for a hang on back filter.

How long before the release of the update video?

Another few weeks. Trying to grow some really hard plants. They are just now responding. 🤘

Total hit and a miss!! For rimless only, which eliminates AT LEAST 50% of potential buyers. Why Hygger would choose to eliminate at least 50% of its clientele is beyond stupid!!!!! No dimmer, another huge miss!!! No ability to set 24/7 ramp up ramp down or be able to adjust color. Saw these and had 4 of thembin my Amazon shopping cart to buy them for my 180 gal planted tank until I saw the before mentioned issues. Deleted them out of the cart and ended up buying 4 Kessil A160WE lights instead. A loss for Hygger and a win for Kessil.
@ssaquascapesАй бұрын
I understand your position and need for certain features. I will, as an ambassador for Hygger, relay this message if you approve. Kessil makes a great light but always a bit pricey for me personally. Since this is the first version Hygger has made, maybe they will add features and maintain the competitive pricing in the future. If your interested, I am about to release a long term experiment video comparing this light to Hygger’s lowest end light. It’s pretty interesting. Until then, thanks for you feedback and supporting my channel! 🤘
@gunnerneikoifyАй бұрын
@@ssaquascapes If they would of AT LEAST had dimming capability instead of just off/on at full blast brightness and a adapter to be able to mount the lights onto standard rimmed aquariums, I probably would of bought them vs going with the Kessils I ended up buying.
