Inspiration for writing this song: I was reading a book by a well known pastor in which he made a statement along this line of thought: When Jesus came the first time, it was in meekness and His purpose was to save. When He comes again, it will be to kill (his enemies). WOW! What powerful words. I kept imagining King Jesus returning to Earth to fight His enemies who will be led by Satan, gathered to fight Him. Meditating on the majestic power of Jesus as He returns and conquers the powers of evil brought forth feelings of hope and worship. From there the lyrics and tune came pretty quickly. Of course, there was some reworking of both over a few weeks, but it was first sung in our Christmas Candlelight Service in 2022. My sincere thanks to Michael for using his many gifts to share it with his KZbin followers, and making it possible for me, and others, to share it with others in the body of Christ. My prayerful desire is that, as we face the gathering darkness, that believers will remember that Jesus Christ will return and make all things right. Soli Deo gloria!

WOW Michael and Mandy! It is so clear that God our Father gave you this song. So clear! Jesus said I am the way, the TRUTH and the life! and NO one comes to the Father accept through Christ. Who has redeemed HIS people!

Amazing Hymn, and so encouraging! He is coming back to gather His followers, and the scam will be a smoking ruin! Joel 3, Isaiah 34-35 scam burns and is a home for unclean birds and then His gathering is "the redeemed of the Lord", Zephaniah 3, Isaiah 11, Isaiah 43-gathered from all 4 directions on Earth, Mark 13-gathered from all 4 directions on Earth, Revelation 17-20 scam is burning perpetually and home for unclean birds, His gathering is "the camp of the saints"!

I write from England, Autumn 2024. I love all your KZbin material, Michael, and always stop to pray and give thanks and to enjoy. When i first became a Christian, I guess I thought we were in a continuation of the Acts of the Apostles, with each of us continuing the work on Earth, however called, in the power of the Spirit, of course. But just recently we are seeing a Darkness that is rapidly taking over our land, one that puzzles all the common sense and fair play that we have always taken for granted. The words of this hymn take us to a different level, reminding us that our fight is against powers that only the roar of the Lion of Judah is capable of conquering. The harmonies are grand, by the way. Thank you.

I cannot know quite what the writer had in mind, and my thoughts will not be exhaustive, but to my mind the hymn text is marvellously biblically-based, and, to this casual observer at least the following scriptural allusions can be discerned: Genesis 49:9, I Chronicles 29:11, Song of Songs 1:4, Isaiah 42:13, Jeremiah 25:30, Hosea 11:10, Amos 1:2, Joel 2:11, Mark 13:4-27, John 5:28, I Thess 4:16, Hebrews 12:26, the Book of the Revelation of St John the Divine, in particular, Rev 1:14. 2:18, 4:7, 5:5, 10:2-3, 12:11, 15:3, 19:12, 22:3. The hymn was probably not written for this, but some churches use the Narnia Chronicles as ways in to the Gospel for children, and it would also therefore lend itself to such a CS Lewis-themed subject. (Feel free to edit or remove if in any way this causes offence).
