Absolutely incredible work. It's interesting, this feels so.....reverent, it feels less like a song OF the Mighty Nein, not a song any one of them would sing themselves, but....it is a hymn FOR the Mighty Nein. For all their pain, and all their perseverance and will, this feels like the song that flows from grateful lips, from hopeful hearts, from the souls of those their kindness has touched and from eyes that can see their pain. This feels like the song of a thousand arms, reaching across the planes to lift up the heroes that have lifted them in turn. It feels like remembering to love each other, and in that, you have found perfection.

Megami (who co - wrote the song) said in live chat that every 2 lines pertain to a certain member of the Nein: Go on cast your lot and draw a card, The Wildmother smiles from blooming groves - Caduceus There's a life now past and bargains formed, Sail away into the storm - Fjord Warm smiles will hide the tears inside, But they see you all too well dear - Jester Cast your past aside - old embers fade, But the warmth we give is real - Caleb From the darkened skies the thunder calls, Guilty hearts are hard to heal - Yasha In a form you do not(t) recognize, Long to change to one that's real - Veth Leave the world behind and what they think, Disapproval only weighs you down - Beau The rest seem to apply to all of the Nein.
@hhylobates40983 жыл бұрын
The "cast your lot and draw a card" opening would be Molly rather then Caducues. And maybe it wasnt the original intention but the lines between the specific characters and the Beacon of Hope part retroactively fit perfectly for the Ninth member of the Nein
@dialgafan10633 жыл бұрын
I think the card and wildmother lines were for Molly then Cad representing the one player behind both.
@FoxyBlack22472 жыл бұрын
The way I see it "So you learned from them and they from you, and they burrowed 'neath your skin. They tore down your walls and buried shame, dared your heart to beat again," all those lines can apply to Essek, who really makes up #9 for the Mighty Nein. That's exactly the role he played in the Nein's lives, and the role the Nein played in Essek's from the very beginning
@MoonWakir4 жыл бұрын
I feel as though I'm seeing into the future- to the dispanding of the Nein after an epic battle and loss. Jester returning to her mother. Beau visiting her little brother and bringing history books to gift to him. Caleb settling into a small cottage built over the ruins of his childhood home. Yasha wandering the continent with a storm in her wake. Cad returning to the garden and the warmth of his brothers and sisters. Veth coming home to her family for good. Fjord leaving the Star Razor in a portside barrel for some other curious soul to discover, as he sets off as a deckhand on a fishing vessel from Port Damali. An "end of the tale" feeling. Powerful stuff guys.

Beautiful. As a former chorister with 10 years experience I am amazed by the high quality of this. The timing is slightly off for some of the singers (sometimes starting and/or ending lines at slightly different times, so there is less of a hard note and more of a ripple), but given this is done remotely, likely recorded at different times and probably without a conductor the fact they are so close to dead on is Incredible. They’re also all in tune, again a brilliant feat (and something my old choir struggled with even if were were all *in the same room*). TL;DR this was amazing work and I look forward to seeking what gets put out next.

It's perfect. The story of the Nein is a story of finding kindred spirits and healing through acceptance and mutual traumas. This touches a special place for a lot of us, I feel, who all bear the weight of something (or multiple somethings). The Nein is a story of finding family when your own doesn't exist or isn't great (except Cad, who's got a great family). This is breathtaking and makes me tear up a bit. Thank you.

This isn't battle music, not even close. However, I can see this playing during the campfire scene before the Nein go to face down the final boss. Picture it. The team is at level 20. They've spent years together now. They've grown so much together, becoming a surrogate family for each other. Then, the very night before they face the BBEG, a moment of respite. The fire glowing warm, camp set, one last long rest before journy's end. And in this moment, each character becomes a full character, each of their arcs completing simultaneously. Caleb forgiving himself, telling everyone that he was so caught in the past, that he couldn't even see that he made up for it tenfold in the present. Veth throws away her flask, saying that she doesn't need alcohol anymore; everyone has already given her the confidence she needed. Beau learns to trust the world a little more, and starts seeing larger and larger flecks of good in everyone, no matter how terrible they may be, truly becoming the hero she said she would never be. Jester admitting that she can be sad too, and everyone holding her as she lets out an entire adventure's worth of repressed sadness. Fjord giving a final middle finger to Uka'toa, by swearing on his oath to the Widmother that he won't use a single warlock spell in the coming fight. Yasha letting go of her guilt, taking Jester up on her offer to be her new family, no matter what. Caduceus becoming more worldly, being so influenced by the Nein that he can actually start speaking casually now, and maybe even enjoy a whisky. And Molly, watching over them as always, knowing that they don't need a good time anymore. Because they are there for each other. They're each other's good time.
