I remember hearing a story from a priest that during the peak of Covid, one Catholic priest died every day for two months, in India, due to the necessity of performing the last rites to dying people. God bless all of the priests, they are truly doing Lord’s work.

The Veni Creator Spiritus has been special to me since the first time I heard it intoned. It was intoned by the almost octogenarian H.E. Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre at a sacerdotal ordination on May 25th, 1980 at our Ridgefield Connecticut seminary. I was a 17 yr old seminarian and Msgr. Lefebvre's crozier bearer. Even today in my mid 60s I can still hear the archbishop's voice as he intoned it: Weak and "faible" from age and and his lengthy apostolate --- but with such a profound spirituality marked by humility, adoration, and tenderness that even if I lived to 1,000 years I'd never have the joy to hear anything as beautiful as that intonation of the Veni Creator Spiritus. (At Econe, we'd all sneak a peak at him from the back of the chapel to watch him pray in silence. We all agreed, that was far more beautiful and impressionable than any sermon we'd ever hear for the rest of our lives.) + Deo gratiss +
