I am very pleased to bring today's VIRTUAL CHURCH from St John the Baptist Church in Cirencester - a beautiful town right in the centre of the Cotswolds!
In this video I play 12 hymns, 4 organ pieces and give a demonstration of the sensational 4-manual Henry Willis / Harrison & Harrison organ.
This organ has become my favourite church organ here in the UK, surpassing (in my view) the terrific organ of the Temple Church in London.
0:00:00 | Introduction
Hymns:
0:02:07 | Praise to the Lord, the Almighty (Lobe den Herrn)
0:06:51 | Crown him with many crowns (Diademata)
0:12:13 | We have a gospel to proclaim (Fulda)
0:20:42 | Above the moon earth rises (Salley Gardens)
0:26:20 | I vow to thee my country (Thaxted)
0:36:46 | Jesu, lover of my soul (Aberystwyth)
0:42:17 | All people that on earth do dwell (Old hundredth)
0:50:12 | Faith of our Fathers (St Catherine)
1:00:52 | How shall I sing that majesty (Coe Fen)
1:05:48 | Lord Jesus Christ (Living Lord)
1:14:44 | At the name of Jesus (Evelyns)
1:27:58 | And did those feet in ancient time (Jerusalem)
Organ Music:
0:30:22 | Thalben-Ball - Elegy
0:57:16 | Manz - What God ordains is always good
1:22:23 | Rawsthorne - Prelude on Londonderry Air
1:34:00 | Gigout - Toccata
Organ Demonstrations:
0:16:37 | Swell
0:53:32 | Solo
1:09:43 | Great
1:31:32 | Pedal

As a young teenager in the early 1960s I used to worship with my parents in Cirencester parish church. It is a beautiful church and I'm so glad that the organ is in good heart.

Hello Richard and Family, What a beautiful VC today. Fantastic organ playing, fabulous organ, great acoustics, and good hymns. At the weekends, it's also the best chat session around. I think Eddie was in heaven this weekend what with the Tuba tune yesterday, and lots of tuba registration today. You make a lot of people happy! Thanks!

Thank you for the recital and virtual church from Cirencester. I agree with you that this is a very special organ. It has the beauty of the Willis combined with the fire and precision of H and H. A real hybrid if the best in English organ building. The Temple Organ is very fine - my church ! But agree this is better. I do hope you can do some more recordings from Cirencester. 👍

Thank you, Richard, for the excellent variety of hymns and organ works. I especially enjoyed hearing the Manz “Was Gott tut.” Manz has always been a hero of mine as a Lutheran organist. I was fortunate to play for him as a young student in a master class years ago. Greetings from Long Beach, California, USA!🇺🇸

Sitting here in SE Australia on a cold (18C) but sunny winters day, enjoying the memories of singing in a church choir in Sutton Surrey in the 1960's standing next to the organ console. Used to enjoy an occasional play after service. You played with full depth of tone, bass is sensational and reverb in church inspiring. Thanks

I am new to this whole scene (if that is the word) and I am wondering if anyone knows of a channel like this that is dedicated more to the choral aspect of traditional hymns? It do love a good organ, but to me the human voice is the supreme instrument. I really (really) enjoyed your videos that included the choir singing, they went so well together, I am feeling the need for more now. I see why it is much harder to organize (no pun intended?) But I would love to hear more of it, to expand my musical horizons. I know of at least one good channel with Church of Christ (?) a cappella singing, and I know plenty of the shape note singing channels, I would like to hear more of the Anglican (for example) tradition. Just to try it all out. Anything traditional that doesn't have drums or guitar.

Hello! Love your videos! Hello! I was wondering if I could ask for help with a problem I have with the virtual setup I am working on. I am in the midst of setting up a 3-manual organ for myself. I have 3 Casio MIDI keyboards, with a push on/off button on top of each. I had intended on simply using a power strip to turn on/turn off, but once the power is cut, each keyboard will shut down and need to be turned on by manually pushing the power button of each. Is there an (easy) way to remedy this situation with a singular on/off switch? Or will I have to move each keyboard each time I need to power on/off? Thank you so much for any suggestions :-)

2 questions.... 1) Does playing in socks make it harder to use the heel (I know shoes can be comfortable, but would think it's harder to use the heel without them) 2) What's on the phone - is that reminders of stops to use or something?

Hi Richard, just so you know I had to create a new account because youtube is doing a stupid thing with school-run accounts for people under 18, so my Nathan Camilleri account with the Donald for the account picture won't be able to comment or participate in live chat. So, I created a new account. I have subscribed.
