@@quinnjim Seriously. I have a Glock 34 with over 10k rounds through it. All OEM internals, nothing replaced yet, even guide rod. Only malfunctions were due to ammo. And I'm not making excuses. It was aluminum ammo. Same ammo where a round got pulled out of the casing and dumped powder in the gun. While it was still inside the mag. Literally the slide going forward caused the round to come out. Oh, and besides initial clean and lubing when I first got it, I didn't clean it for 2-3k rounds. Occasional touch up lube, but left all the crap in it.

Despite the price tag, I'm planning on getting a USP (probably 9mm) as my first gun from its legendary reputation on reliability. I worked for a Commercial Nuclear Security Company that issued the USP 40 Full Size. I also was the Site Weapons Systems Armorer for a couple of years. I can attest to the durability of the USP. As much as I disliked (wanted to dislike) the platform, I can't say anything bad about the reliability. They just run and don't break. Variant 3/4 is the way to go with the system. The LEM is just goofy 🤦‍♂️H&K Factory training in Sterling Virginia is a Mecca like experience..........especially the Gray Room😉👍

okay but the fact it has FRAME SAFETY that is also a decoker in such a nice spot that still holds up really well (I think theres an argument for it being on the best safeties ever designed) is incredible, all the others are almost all slide safeties which are lame, also I would argue 45 super would be an awesome self defense round when you see how it ballistics behave on impact, it dumps a shit load of energy REALLY quickly

I have a 1993 V1 HK USP 40, a 1997 V1 HK USP 45, and a HK 45 Compact Tactical. All of them are absolutely fantastic to shoot and reliable beyond anything else I own. I believe the most durable is the USP 40; if I'm not mistaken this gun was actually designed around the round to take the abuse.

Great review of the USP man. I picked up the USP 9 though for one simple reason. It works. No matter what it works. I'll bet my life on this over a glock of any caliber. @Rohann van Rensburg ya, but it still kinda sucks. I have a compact and one adapter was huge in every dimension. Another protruded past the end of the pistol. My light/laser is super small and would otherwise be flush with barrel. So ive got an adapter sticking out between my barrel and light. 10 years ago, there werent many options so ibground down the adapter. You spend $800 on a gun and $200 on an accessory, itd be nice to kep the dremel in the drawer

It's worth mentioning that (I was told, could be wrong) the HK45 and HK45C are the "modern" replacement models of the USP45. The HK45C is supposedly more in line with the designer's intentions of replacing the USP. It might be an interesting comparison to do some time.
@reignick1133
@reignick1133 3 жыл бұрын
The HK45 & HK45CT are fine guns, though they are lower capacity than the HK USP 45 Fullsize, though the HK45C & HK45CT do conceal considerably easier. Are they replacements to the USP? Not really, but they are perfectly suited for work where a 12+1 ( or 17+1,20+1 or 24+1 dependent on mag choice) Duty Sized sidearm may be just a little bit too big. The HK 45CT is actually pretty darn easy to conceal in general quite good for plainclothes work and US SOCOM when performing "plainclothes" work overseas.. they never got rid of their Mk 23's or their C.O.T.S. HK USP 45'S. The US Navy made the HK45CT into an official line item as the Mk 24. So SEALS have a choice between 3 separate HK pistols ( among other options such as the SIG P226 and Glock 19) as sidearms or if need be primary weapons depending upon mission parameters. The Mk 23 does not get taken much these days but there are some people who swear by it, the USP 45 Fullsize was chosen by them as a C.O.T.S. ( Commercial Off The Shelf purchase) because some liked the capacity of the Mk 23 but wanted more of a secondary sidearm as opposed to a primary weapon system. and the Mk 24(HK 45 CT) dovetails nicely into it's role as a concealable covert hard-hitting sidearm. ALL have solid options to be suppressed.

So did you enjoy it or no? Just curious about your thoughts. As for myself, I like polymer a lot but, it does depend on the build. If the slide is heavy enough than I tend to like those polymer guns better because the recoil is even less. As an example the Glock 19 (the only Glock that I sort of like) is a nice "almost" full sized pistol but because of the lightweight polymer/Plastic and the light weight of the the slide it causes it to be a little too snappy and kick too hard for my arthritic wrists.

My 30 year old usp has been shot god knows how much. No idea. No one cared about round count in the 1990s and no one boasted on the internet with b.s. "my gun ate 509999999 rounds without a problem" That said...I had never had a problem with it until about 2018...turns out the two original mag springs were worn out and I was shocked to find I could still buy new mags for this old thing, and wolff springs to fix the old mags. Not a problem since. I have no freakin idea how shot up and clapped out my usp is, there is almost no finish left on the metal. This is one of those guns you just dont question. I guess if you are just trendy and cool you can pick apart what all sucks about it, but if youre old and dont give a shit about keeping up with the tactical Jones', id say owning a usp is a real treat. Its accurate, reliable, and works well. I had no idea they were still making these, I think ill pick up a new one just to sit looking all new and pretty next to my rusty reliable no finish having old ass usp.

I love my USP45 tactical, it's definitely my favorite pistol I own and would be the one I'd choose if I could only have one. Bomb proof and eats .45 super with ease. The recoil of the super seems much more manageable to me than depicted here, I don't find it that harsh at all. The increase in recoil from +P to super feels about the same as the increase from standard to +P, which this pistol tames well. The gun is very versatile, I love being able to seamlessly switch between light target loads, standard pressure, +P, and hot and heavy .45 super that out performs full house 10mm. I agree with you, I personally like the ergonomics of it but that is probably the most highly criticized part of the gun, often likened to a 2x4 that needs gorilla hands to grip. But it suits my medium hands just fine. If anyone wants to part with their over-hyped video game gun, please reach out to me I might consider taking it off your hands!

I've carried an HK USP 45 on duty for the last 26 years. I've never had a problem with the gun itself, but I've had other things wear out. I've gone through two of the HK UTL lights (both broke over the years), and later added the LED upgrade to them. I then added a GG&G adaptor and put on a Surefire X300, which required a new duty holster, after wearing out two Safariland duty holsters previously. I'm on my fourth set of night sights since my use of a dip-tank for cleaning the gun seems to shorten the lifespan of the sights considerably. I'm now on my second GG&G adaptor after breaking a screw on the first one. I'm also on my third set of magazine springs, as they seem to not like the constant compression to which duty magazines are exposed. In 2010, I had the LEM trigger put in, which gave me some increased accuracy on that first shot. I also had the gun gone over by an HK armorer, but nothing needed replacing. I only shoot it at qualifications, so my total round count is less the 6000. A couple of years ago, I added the HK Parts +5 magazine extensions to my mags, making my USP a 17+1 round 45! It's a beast to carry now, but I love it! 😁

I bought a P30L and I didn’t know much about hks at the time but I was able to turn it into a safety and decocker model I like carrying cocked and locked if it’s available to me. Now I have a P7 and an HK MK23 looking for one of the KAC cans for it. Think it would be cool but my aac Tirant 45 and rugged 45 sound great on it. First video of yours I’ve watched and it’s just facts and no bullshit so you’ve earned a subscriber my friend

I had a USP45 briefly about 15yrs ago. Other than being absolutely massive, and heavy enough fully loaded to double as a boat anchor, I loved everything about it. It was, hands down, the most comfortable-shooting centerfire handgun I've shot, before or after. I sold it to one of my clients, and as far as I know, he still has it. I wonder if he's interested in selling...

Have a 45 full size. Carried it to the river one time and ended up getting a bunch of sand in the action. Cleaned it out as best as I could but the action felt gritty. Left it like that for 3 years before I worked up the courage to completely disassemble it and clean it as best as possible without a hydro sonic cleaner. Never had an issue after all those years. Can confirm on reliability!

The USP was ahead of its time and forward thinking. It definitely could use an update, but it still slaps. Oh, and the drip is absolutely real. There is a reason Jack Bauer had one!

When I shoot my M&P40 I pretend it's a USP40, ngl. Also BIG shout to Way of the Gun. James Caan rocking their shit with a snub j frame is part of what started my love affair with revolvers, and the beautiful use of shotguns is why I'm a scatterguy til I die.

I own 2 USP 45s They are my EDC sidearms. I have taken 2 handgun classes with them. Each class expended in excess of 1000 rds. I did not experience any malfunctions and the accuracy was more than adequate for the tasks. One of which was hitting a 10" steel plate starting at 20 meters and extending to 120 meters. I made it to 80 meters. Only the instructor made it further. (Man that guy can shoot a pistol!) I look at my guns far more often than I get to shoot them. So aesthetics are as important as function. My USP 45s please my eye as well as satisfying the need for which they were purchased.

Ouch - I suppose I shouldn't admit to owning a few of these. The only thing that really sucks is the magazines - should be steel and maybe get 1-2 more rounds in. And you don't need a USP in 45 - that's what the Mark 23 is for :-)

Why am I just now finding you? Best job of voice over I’ve seen so far on GunTube. Thanks, I was seriously considering a USP 9 for home defense. You talked me back to earth. I have a P30 LEM in .40, and I agree. It’s the best shooting pistol I or any of my family and friends have ever shot. HK seems to really understand that ridiculous round. You should come shoot my P30 sometime. I’m in GA, how about you?

"The VP70 was a stablegun hi-point hybrid" rofl. It is a bulky weird gun. Kinda neat in the original burst fire model, even if that only functions with the weird holster stock..

Funny funny review. I’m a Vietnam era Fudd that owns a 9mm USP & 9mm VP9. When I want to hit stuff quickly I use a CZ Shadow2 with an Aimpoint red dot. I’m gonna switch my home defense gun to the USP and if I do shoot one or more home invaders with it I’ll send you a photo and tell you to pound sand. Until then I’m still subscribed. Keep up the great content.

I first saw this pistol in Antoine Fuqua's directorial debut: The Replacement Killers. John Lee (portrayed by Hong Kong action star Chow Yun Fat) takes it off a thug and uses it in spectacular fashion alongside Meg Coburn (Mira Sorvino) and her Browning Hi-Power. I have recently purchased a V1 USP at my local shop. Look forward to trying this out.

I ran a H&K .40 cal USP with Jet Funnel upgrades (16 round capacity) as my main squeeze for almost a decade before moving to the P30L 9mm. The USP is still the most accurate handgun I've ever owned.

Just want you to know. I thoroughly enjoyed your video. And I’m the author of the “apocryphal shit” on the internet that you referenced. Just wanted to say. It’s 100% true. The armored I talked to is Jesse Teague at HK. The gun wasn’t a range rental it was a test mule for federal ammunition. I quoted what Jesse said. Also I was a newer gun owner at the time and a giddy HK fanboy which is quite apparent in my post. But nonetheless. Truth. Again, great video man 👍🏻 I laughed and agreed
