Honestly, pokemon company needs to fix this by accepting backorders for sold-out sets while they're in rotation; once enough orders come in, they print another run and ship it out. That way, sets will rarely sell over MSRP. I enjoy collecting from packs but if this continues, I'll switch to buying singles only.

I just think that they are at FULL capacity in terms of printing. They have obviously printed immense amount of Terastal (but not available on the Japanese center), and they maybe just thought the demand wouldn’t be so crazy

So long as the narrative is about "markets" and "prices", it will continue to be about investing. Channels like this, that constantly give peoplle FOMO and tell them to buy, hold, invest into their cards, drive that. Same with TikTok sellers, etc. The entire 'community' is based around investing, with only a small fraction collecting for fun, and an even smaller fraction playing. Just look into the video history of this channel. There have been about 9 videos about investments or FOMO hype in the last month alone.

Unless you play the TCG, almost every channel has a significant amount of YOU SHOULD INVEST IN THIS, or PRICES ARE SPIKING videos to drive FOMO and shift the conversation to how to make money from Pokémon cards. I don’t think you remember or maybe weren’t there but 99’s hype was WORLDWIDE. This is mostly relegated to about 8 countries. It’s huge right now no doubt now whereas 2020/21 was ephemeral and FAKE hype led my a loser, advised by losers [Paul/Guru], but the only other time hype for the franchise was at 99’s level when Pokémon was released to the world, was 2016 with GO. That’s the only other time. This time that 151 was the catalyst to is definitely close though. I still have a note my mom wrote my dad about how she couldn’t pick up any of my “Pokeman cards” because all of the stores are charging double for what they were last week. There were MANY MONTHS like this from 1999-early 2001. Maybe you were just in a good area though, but Pokémon was constantly on rotation in the news for years, lol. There were several things that were hard to find, the gameboys and games too. Family vacation when yellow came out? My parents asked me and my friends if we wanted Disneyland or “Pokeman”, what do you think the three of us chose? They had to go to FOURTEEN STORES to find them. Took us 8 hours. Insanity. We spent the entire trip on them though, even when we were out by the pool, we were talking about our current progress in the game, lol. Take me back…

I managed to get a box of battle partners during the first drop as well as the second. The second drop where I live was at 3:00 I got in and was able to make the purchase approximatelyI got in and was able to make the purchase approximately 3 and 1/2 hours after joining the que. I think what is really making this set popular is the promo that goes along with the booster box

I entered the first queue at the start and the file sets were sold out after waiting 3 hours but did buy the booster box/starter deck~ The second queue had some confusion where some thought you were not allowed to buy a second box but PC allowed it. 17:31JST was when the second queue popped up and after 3 1/2 hours was allowed in (both promo and booster were still available)

As a casual fan, this scares me for the team rocket set. I just want my two booster boxes and not have to pay a crazy amount to get them. I just want to keep one sealed, open one for the feels, and then let the hunting begin for singles. The headache is going to be here in the states is really the one that drives me nuts! It needs to be mandatory for 1 or 2 per customer for big stores so all the madness can chill 🫠 I'm skipping these next two sets and waiting for the rockets set 🙌

Kind reminder that Japanese Pokemon Center is meant for Japanese people ordering to Japanese addresses. Not for foreigners using re-shipping addresses. The population outside of Japan is much bigger than the population inside Japan. The problem is not necessarily Pokemon Center Japan having shortages but rather allowing re-shipping addresses to be used on their systems. Some businesses in Japan don't allow re-shipping addresses to avoid this problem. Additionally, people are not going crazy for the box but rather going crazy for the box including an Iono promo. To be transparent, I've been collecting/investing through Japan and Pokemon Center Japan for 9 years. This comment is only meant to share my thoughts. Cheers! 🥂

Uh no? Earlier this year, I literally walked into the Pokemon Center in Japan as an obvious foreigner and they sold me a couple boxes of Shiny Treasures ex. The kicker is that I showed them my non-Japanese passport and they gave me a tax-free discount. Stores in Japan are not forced to join the tax-free program but Pokemon decided to join it anyway which I think tells you something. The intended audience is still Japanese buyers but they have no problems selling to tourists at their physical stores.

You do realize that you’re part of the problem, right? These sets are primarily designed for Japanese TCG players, and our new rotation is coming at the end of this month. They’re not intended for people living outside Japan. You already managed to get the first batch of pre-order boxes and the trainer special kits. Meanwhile, I live and play Pokémon TCG in Japan, but by the time I got through the queue, everything was sold out. Lucky me. The same thing happened during the Terastal Festival. Then, I see Western KZbinrs making videos like, “I opened 1,000 packs of Terastal Fiesta.” Just… why? You got a box in the first pre-order but are now complaining about missing out on a second one on the 7th and blaming scalpers? Man, you’re no different from them. I get it. It’s your money, and you can spend it however you want. But don’t pretend you’re not part of the problem. If you really want to be part of the solution, stop buying boxes during pre-orders meant for Japan, and don’t encourage your viewers either.

Pokémon 151 is not widely available in Haoan. That was never fixed. Terastal Festival ex is out of stock everywhere and we have no news of reprints. And now this. I think the Pokémon company is definitely failing. They just need to keep the printers running and they will literally print money, and yet for some reason or the other, they don’t. Hard to print to demand? How about widening the gap in between sets? Scalpers? Make boxes print-to-order. Maybe start diversifying products like the English sets and add bluster lane packs and ETBs.
