Hyper V Live Migration How to Easily Move VM to Another Host
In Hyper-V virtual environment management, VM migration is needed in many situations.
Live migration is the feature wanted by every IT administrator. It moves VM to another host while doesn't require shutting down the guest operating system or export the VM, greatlyly reducing downtime.
Hyper-V supports live migration on Windows Server 2008 R2 and later versions. It requires failover cluster setup (physically connecting servers), similar or the same hardware and software configuration (for compatibility ), fixed IP addresses, etc. before live migration.
In Windows Server 2016 and later versions, failover cluster is not required but more software layer configuration is required.

How did you add the other Host to the Hyper V manager? I cannot get it to add. It says I don't have permissions when using my admin account with Hyper V radmin and Global Admin roles.

Running Windows Server 2012 R2, when i right click the VM > Settings > NO LIVE MIGRATION FEATURE

Great video man, just one question, I am trying to transfer my VM from my Windows Server 2022 to my Windows 11 machine, but for some reason, in the Hyper V configuration of my Win11 Pc, the option for live migration simply does not appear, and therefore, when in the step at 8:59 it says to me it cannot connect to the server, even though My servers' Hyper V admin is connected to my Win11 pc no problem. Do you happen to know a solution?

Thanks 😊 but live migration only happen between windows server hosts (server 2016 and above) not windows workstations !
