Thank you for this video. I want to model the hyperboloid gears ith and inventor. I managed to model the hyperboloid surfaces correct if the transmission ratio is 1 and r1=r2. However if I change the transmission ratio to lets say r2/r1=3 both Hyperboloids are interfering, but the straight lines on the surface are perfectly in contact. Can you give me hint, what I am doing wrong or send me a your file for the model. Maybe this helps me to in out what I am doing wrong

I have the same issue as yours, increased interference as ratio diverges from 1. Actually I couldn't find any example on youtube or elsewhere of a hyperboloid gear with a ratio that is not 1. I would be happy to share my project, but since last February 2023 update, Fusion 360 crashes when opening any of my projects with a sketch containing an involute gear tooth [and it's very frustrating :( ].

@@steelstone Seems like youtube blocked my reply. Thanks for your answer. A former colleague of me developed two hyperboloid gears with transmission ratio bigger than one. (If you are interested, I can send you his publication, I can't use links in the comments). He proposed in one of his publications the formula for the axis angle: theta_axis=atan(w1)+atan(w2) or theta_achs=atan(w1)+atan(w2/i), where w1 and w2 is the twist angle of hyperboloid 1 and 2. However, with this formula I also get wrong results. If I make any progress I will let you know.
