Sideshow Star Wars Darth Vader Mythos Statue Review

I get that there's technically a lot of these made, but people are going to really want that extra head sculpt with the damaged helmet, it's just too good to pass up. Plus you get the unique flaming lightsaber, which I think is pretty cool. So yeah there's a lot made, but not nearly as many made with the exclusive options, and I think the exclusive is going to sell out faster than people think. This statue has been extremely well received and is going to be very popular.

I thought the same thing about Ventress and Maul at the time. To me the new Mythos Maul is one of the coolest Darth Maul’s out there and it was on sale. This may be the first one I’m wrong about but so far I’m 6 for 6 on the pieces that ended up on sale this past season. It’s definitely one to watch.

Do you not think it will sell out?. My friend got his today and his # for the exclusive edition was 3108. Does that mean what they are up to because he preordered his 4 weeks ago so I would assume more orders have risen but idk how it works

@@BreeZieDoesiT the number you get is random. They do not ship out in order. The exclusive will eventually sell out. With Sideshow’s track record of putting these things on sale, I just think it’s best to wait and see. You may save $100

You guys gotta see that this is a special statue and better looking than most if not all sideshow statues as of late. Its a complete banger and I can guarantee the exclusive edition wont be going on any deep sale and thats because its been getting much praise outside of the star wars guru circle. People who dont buy statues are buying him based on it being a raw and mystical interpretation of Vader. Something that hasn't been done much for Vader which makes it special in my opinion

The flaming saber fits firmly into the hilt. You just have to push it in more at a certain angle.

Great review. Kucharek Bros have been around a long time, I still own a few of their Bowen pieces which are still amazing representations of the character. Love this piece and totally agree waiting for price drops Sideshow has been making way too many high ES statues, this one has showed up on Seconds twice while it is still on PO. Once it’s on stock, i will probably get one when it regularly shows on seconds or one of their daily deals.

What's your guess on the leaning issue it might have due to the cape? If 1 means it will lean and 10 means it will not. Could'nt tell exactly.

My fear is the weight of the cape over time will cause an issue. It may never happen. For example I had a Batman statue with a heavy cape and to took over a year before I noticed anything. Other people with the same statue didn’t have an issue. So it’s 50/50 that it could happen

Afaik xm studios uses some kind of enforced structure inside the statue for these kinds of statues, wouldn't be too shabby if someone could scan through this one.

That has got to be one of the best I've seen. I've been holding off to see what they come up with from the Obi-Wan series. This really could match well with an Obi-Wan if they do THAT right. But it's definitely one I'd love to have.

Really, there are only 4500 :) The split helmet is an absolute must for me. Only reason I ordered it. I couldn't be happier with the sculpt. The paint is very good, but not top tier. Extremely happy with it, especially matched with the matching Asajj.

Rarity and size edition should never be a factor in collecting. Investing, maybe.

Yes it should. Let me say it like this, there is no wrong way to collect. If you want to buy everything without a care of what it is, that is fine. I like to collect rare art. And this is not rare, nor is it inexpensive. Collectors of fine art or cars don’t collect art from hobby lobby or buy Honda Civics. At the current price points rarity and edition size is most definitely a factor for me.

I’ve literally had zero desire to buy anything like this but I preordered it. It’s striking. Very, very heavy. 35lbs. Maybe more. The flaming saber is WILD. I just wish his cape was all black instead of the red reflection because I’ve already taken the saber out which also looks amazing.

I’ll be annoyed if it goes on sale. Maybe the non exclusive won’t sell out but I imagine the exclusive will and that’s the only one to have in my opinion. Seeing Anakin through the helmet is the cherry on top.

That’s how I’ve felt about every mythos I have bought recently. Sucks when you pay full pop only for them to drop the price like that. What irks me most is you know they are still making money even at the sale price. So it goes to show you how they value their pieces and their customers. The ES on the EX is the same as all of the other Mythos statues. So they just made an extra 6500 of them in the regular. I’m curious to see what happens

Wait for the CE or exclusive?. I dont know how much time you got. If its any consolation, my buddy just recieved his today and its numbered 3108 and he pre ordered it 3 and a half weeks ago. Would assume numbere have risen but im not sure how it all works. This is for exclusive only though

@@BreeZieDoesiT the number of your edition doesn’t determine how many are left. You are likely to get number 4500 as much as you can get number 1. It is a great statue but I don’t think anyone needs to rush to buy it. There was a ton of hype around Ventress and Maul. Both were created by the same sculptors and both are still available today and went on sale this past holiday season. And both of those released close to 2 years ago.

I like it, but personally, the original Vader Mythos statue is still my favorite. There are multiple design choice on this piece that I don't like; the flaming light sabre, the fire on the base and the over-exaggerated cape. Artistically, it's an amazing piece, but for me, not really representative of the cinematic Vader that I love.

Lol. What you say is true from a certain point of view. I did make a video saying I wasn’t buying it. In the video I said I liked the statue but that Sideshow makes too many Vaders that all look similar to each other. It would have been nice for them to make one look very different from the others. I’m not wrong about that. I don’t think it’s bad mouthing a piece to state the facts. All that being said it’s a good looking statue. I still think it’s overpriced and way too many were made.
