Great review! Hyperlite Mountain Gear is generally made for adventurers who want to lighten their load and hike further. The large size makes perfect sense for backpack thru hiking with a Canon Mark 5D Mark IV or EOS R5. This bag is priced right for keeping the $$$ camera accessible and protecting it in the wilderness. Dyneema is expensive, but worth it. Dyneema is super strong, light, and 100% waterproof - it's the stitching that can compromise this. The other camera bags mentioned here may or may not work on a multi-day backpack trip in the wilderness, and in the end you will wind up purchasing the Hyperlite for your next backpacking adventure.

Does it get annoying having the pod bounce against your chest or top of your stomach as you walk around?

When I read the title I thought that this was one of those camera pods what you use instead of tripod when taking photos example from car.

I would have preferred a soft interior fabric to prevent scratches.

For $103? This is a complete joke.

I'm seeing it from $109! What a joke!! It looks super basic, not a fan of the dyneema and I can't imagine anyone seeing value in it. For that much money I would rather buy a dedicated sling for the camera. Peak design, AER and Alpaka (to name just a few) all have amazing offerings in that regard. If I wanted a backpack that I can also access a camera quickly, i would use the Wandrd Prvke.

@@growpurple That's because I don't think you are the target audience for the camera pod. The selling point is one thing, and one thing alone; it is ultralight at 2.71oz / 73g. The PD 3L sling is 550g, or about 750% heavier. The comparable Shimoda toploader is 360g and the Matador v2 is 155g. This is designed for 1 community and 1 community only: thru hikers, who obsess over minimizing their weight as much as possible, since they'll be hiking for hundreds of kilometers on foot.

@@praxis-cat870 if weight is the issue then I'm sure I'd rather go for a camera strap instead.

@@growpurple A camera strap isn't going to protect your gear from falls and is going to put additional strain on your neck rather than on the chest. Camera straps also let the camera dangle around, and the additional inertia is an energy drain. The point of this is "1 body camera protection, as light as possible." It's ok that it's not for you. It isn't for me either. I just recognize that there are people out there that have a need for this kind of product.

@@praxis-cat870 i don't see how this can protect my gear from falls either.
