Wow, you explain things so well. I wish our school would have at least one instructor like you. Our huge community nursing school doesn't have anybody even close to skills that you have. It is not only our school; many other schools have useless instructors as well. I am so happy that we have KZbin and great instructors here. Most of my math (Calculus) and Chemistry, I learned from KZbin. And therefore I had almost all A's Sera, thank you so much for excellent videos. You truly have a real talent and skills to teach and explain.

Can you explain why adrenal insufficiency cause hypermagnesemia? Thx. :)
@RegisteredNurseRN9 жыл бұрын
+Javy Bird Great question! Addison's Disease (adrenal insufficiency) can cause an increased magnesium level because it effects aldosterone production. Aldosterone plays a role in secretion of potassium, water retention, and keeping sodium. In Addison's Disease the production of aldosterone is low and this has a profound effect on magnesium. Due to the production of aldosterone being low this causes potassium to be conserved (causing hyperkalemia) which in turns leads to hypermagnesemia. Remember how magnesium and potassium play off of each other (ex: in hypomagnesemia you will have hypokalemia....I talked about this is the Hypomagnesmia video). I hope that helps :)
