My friend passed away a few months ago. She suffered from Malignant Hypertension for years. None of the BP meds she was prescribed kept it in check and we almost lost her several times over the years. She was a heavy smoker and her dovtor told her not to stop smoking as that could cause too much of a shock to her body and kill her. Not once was it said that getting off of the cigarettes could possibly save her life.

Thank you so much for your videos. I'm from UK studying nursing in NZ. I love your teaching methods and it's an added bonus to hear a northern home accent. Very calming when I'm stressed out from revising. You are a lifesaver :)

Thanks, Dr. Campbell. My GP here in Germany only gave me meds for three months (beta blockers) and no advice on lifestyle changes. Now he wants to up the dose and keep me on them another 6 months. There has been no investigation on the cause. My hypertension only got discovered after I had a bad reaction to the 2nd dose of Moderna vaccine against COVID. Palpitations, fatigue. The doctors here never found a cause for that either and it took about 3 months for the symptoms to resolve on their own.

Hi Dr, great video, always enjoyed by your covid19 videos. However now based on those excellent videos. I'm now watching these, as got a heart attack a month ago and now binge watching heart related videos, was delighted with myself, gave up sugar, butter cheese eggs full fat milk, meat almost just twice in a month with no fat, was using flax seed in porridge milled muts by Linwood, only used olive oil and balsamic vinegar instead of butter but Alas I've come across lecture by Coldwell Esselstyn a famous American cardiologist , who recommends No olive, no nuts for cardiac patients no meat no chicken.i think he is even against oily fish.y BMI was 25 n now I've 4more kg lost. Amazing videos all his research is based on inflammation of the endothelial layer. His advice is to chew greens with only balsamic vinegar 6 times per day. Very interesting , thankfully i love salads but not looking forward to our irish winter without our irish stews😥

My dr advised me that red meat does have things that are good for those of us with hypertension and that she has seen studies that suggest cutting it out completely may have a negative impact as red meat contains higher levels of somethings that are harder to get the right levels of a purely plant based diet. It's so tricky to know what is correct with so many studies and claims flying around!

We have a legend here in Sweden called Agne Paulsson, who've saved a lot of Swedish nurse students from the infamous Anatomy & Physiology exam via splendid lectures here on youtube. Now we've come across the most notorious exams of them all: Medical science I and II. You've given me the same hope that Agne did when I was in a desperate period. You, sir, are my legend. I salute you!

Can any more information be given on nitric oxide please? Its importance has been brought to my attention and I am under the impression that it depletes with age but even more worrisome that it is killed by fluoride. Is this another way that the ‘big players’ are making money at our expense. Thanks for all of your brilliant articles.

if your high blood pressure tabs are working a treat, you are getting more exercise, sleep, potassium, lost weight etc etc, can you still drink tea, down nicotine tabs and sprinkle salt over your eggs? If not, i will need antidepressants. Thank you if you feel you can answer?

I was 24 when i was diagnosed with hypertension. It was caught because I kept getting debilitating migraines and had a headache non stop for several months. I have no answers other than "it's probably anxiety" We're still looking at things but nothing is jumping out physically other than one kind (genetic) of my cholesterol levels are strangely rising and the other (diet affected) is lowering. 🤷♂️ I wonder if I'll live to 50, even then much past it. I try not to think about it.

I'm on 2 hbp meds and it's still high. It's been this way since my mid twenties. I think it's from taking Effexor which makes norepinephrine in the brain. I need it though so it's a catch 22.
What is the difference between someone who has hypertension (high blood pressure) and someone who has very low blood pressure, but high anxiety or stress/tension? What is the difference?
@jackieblewett6414 жыл бұрын

Dr john. Have you thought that the current covid 19 disease just may be at play alongside hypertension.? You are very concerned (rightly so) in this video, even quoting 26% of the world pop have this and no doubt more as there are no symptoms? Would like your views on this thought?

You do great work. Now ::: Tobacco & Alcohol ::: I love British film, but every time I watch one what I see is a actor with a drink in his/her hand and a cigarette in his/her mouth. Why? It doesn't advance the plot. It isn't necessary for the story-line. What it does do is SELL THE PRODUCT. Shameful.
