16:00 another important thing ACE does is it breaks down bradykinin. Therefore ACEi will disinhibit bradykinin breakdown and cause a dry cough as an adverse effect. ARBs won't have this AE because they block ATII receptors, not ACE, so a patient on losartan can still break down bradykinin. This is important to know for exams.

Amazing Lecture! Thank you for taking the time to explain such a bread and butter topic. I would like to point out that in 2017 the ACC/AHA updated their guidelines. Beta-blockers are no longer recommended as initial monotherapy. They recommend that initial therapy be chosen from among ACE inhibitors, ARBs, Thiazide-like diuretics, and long acting CCBs. Please keep up with the great content!

Thanks so much for these videos, you guys are so good at making these topics comprehensible which is so important in helping people actually remember, as opposed to just memorising. I just have a quick question, when you mention noradrenaline and adrenaline acting on the B1 receptors of the heart, you say 'sympathetic neurone releasing adrenaline', but i thought that adrenaline circulated in the blood due to the effects of noradrenaline on the adrenal glands; is adrenaline also released by the neurone too? Thanks :)
