Hi Helen. I did hypnobirthing with my home birth (HBAC) and it helped me overcome the fear from my first birth which was a traumatic emergency c section. I also used it with my last birth which was a water birth. I agree with everything you said. I learnt a lot of tools from the positive birth company and also maggie Howell i think her name is. I got her discs to listen to on a night for cheap on ebay. The fear tension pain i learnt about in a book called childbirth without fear. That helped me so much and also ina may gaskin books. I really hope more women see this video of yours as it is very informative. I love that you gained all this knowledge before giving birth to Arthur. I think my first birthing experience would have been a lot different if i had watched this and learnt all i did after the first birth. It really does help you to look at birth in a different way and it is all very empowering. You are so right about the negativity around birth and the emphasis on pain. When i read in child birth without fear how women had given birth and had no pain at all it was a game changer for me. One born every minute hardly ever shows positive birthing experiences. I enjoyed the business of being born with Ricki Lake. We used surges instead of contraction. I went with the flow with my first and it was such a bad idea. My birth preferences was so thorough. My midwives said they loved reading it and one said she wanted a similar one when she gave birth so i was so happy. I made a video on being mobile in labour and also whats wrong with instructing women to push and also how to recognise the transitional stage. It is so important knowing what you want after too, you are so right and also about the breathing. I loved using essential oils in labour too. I felt so much better giving birth at home and my birth was only 6hours my first was over 30 hours and 24 with my last. My hubby helped hugely by me hanging off his arms it helped me to bring my 2nd down. I agree its never too late. Thanks so much for sharing. Such a great video ❤❤❤

Hi Simone, that’s so amazing you’ve done it and it helped but so sorry your first birth wasn’t like that. Ooh thank you I’ll take note, I think I heard of Ina May Gaskin, wasn’t she kind of the founder or something of positive birthing?! Hm yes I never watched one born every minute. It’s a shame labour and birth is portrayed so negatively. Aww that is amazing! Oh I bet your video is amazing, I wrote in my plan to not tell me to push. I think at one point the midwife said bear down when he was born but other than that they kind of let me carry on doing whatever I was doing lol. Oh wow, I’d love to consider a home birth in the future, but at least a water birth again.. I’m 33 now though so I wonder what places “allow” and how much I can argue to have one as I can imagine if I was to be 36/7 or something they might say I can’t do certain things and so on. I might be wrong though! Thank you so much for watching and your comment 💗💗 I hope it is helpful for other women out there! Xxx

@@HelenGraceC Hi Helen. Thanks so much. Ina May Gaskin is a midwife and has a place women can go to give birth. Her two books are so amazing. Yes she is seen as the mother of authentic midwifery. It is so good the midwives just left you to it too, With my home birth I baked the midwives a cake and asked them to relax in the living room. They just came in to check on me with the doppler and then were there at the end. It was so amazing. I did a full birth vlog this last time and then did a sit down with clips from my first and 2nd. It always makes me sad when I watch the first, but I try to use that experience to help empower other women to have a beautiful birth and to support women through breastfeeding too. I was 33 when I had my home birth and obviously because I had a c section they were not 100% happy but as I agreed if there were any issues, I would go in they said it was OK. I was due to have another home birth at the age of almost 37 and was booked in for that in England. The same consultant said if it was my 4th he would have some concerns but he didn't think it would be an issue me having another home birth. But when I moved to the island they told me no midwives were willing to come out last min. It was so hard to fight the decision as I only had 2 weeks left. I wrote letters and 2 days before Baby arrived I got an email from the head of midwifery saying she had emailed some midwives to see if they would come out and she would let me know on the Monday. I went into labour on the Sunday. I was devastated as I struggle to relax in hospital. So although I had a drug free water birth with my last, I was so annoyed when they kept coming in asking me unnecessary questions and wanting to intervene just as they did with my first when I didn't know what was necessary and unnecessary which I feel led to my emergency c section. As you have had a straight forward labour, I don't think they would have an issue with you having a home birth especially if you go in with armed with all the facts etc. i cant tell you how nice it is to sit there on your sofa relaxing with a cup of tea afterwards and having the same midwives and not people coming and going. It helped the involuntary fetal ejection reflex massively 💗

Hey Helen, great video. I think anything that educates and helps women/families have an empowered birth experience is a good thing. I did not do hypnobirthing but learnt a lot of these things you’ve spoken about from a lady on YT called Bridget Teyler who’s a birth doula. Her videos are amazing and so informative. I hadn’t really been afraid of giving birth until I was told I would need to be induced and the midwife told me to reconsider my pain management if I’d ruled out an epidural 😐 which did the opposite to relaxing me as you can imagine🙄 luckily I managed to still have a positive experience and I think what you said about watching other people’s positive experiences is really a great tool to women. I agree the word surge is definitely nicer than contractions lol. Thanks for sharing xxx

Hi Jade, thank you so much for your lovely comment!! It is a shame isn’t it, people are too quick to tell you such scare stories too but hopefully Hypnobirthing becomes more known about too!! Thank you 💗💗xxx

hello lovely, I'd never heard of hypnobirthing before, it sounds like it worked wonders for you! How amazing that you felt so relaxed that they were going to send you home!! This is definitely something I'd do if I was pregnant after hearing you talking about your positive experience with it. Great tip to think of it as your muscles doing a workout. I love positive affirmations, I'd never thought of how important it would be in child birth before. Such a fab informative video lovely 💗💗

Hi Helen, loved hearing about your experience. I had actual hypnotherapy years ago and found it amazing so always said I'd do hypnobirthing but for some reason never did. I did listen to a few online which did help but from what you say I think I would of really benefited and had a better experience. This is a really informative video, thanks for sharing. xx

Hi! Ah thank you so much for watching. I did really love the course. With the knowledge from the book, and if you download the app you can have the counting timer, breathing exercises, affirmations and meditations. But I did like watching the course as it helped it sink in more!! I think it would be beneficial myself!! Eek good luck! So exciting ❤️❤️xxx
