The last thing that Ben Affleck was really good in was The Way Back. It’s more or less a paint by numbers sports drama, but I think it hit all the right notes and Affleck was really compelling in it (possibly due to his personal connection to the character)

You SUPPORT the concept of me a woman should have the power to dictate to you what you not only say, do, believe, remember, think even FEEL? Are you serious? Perhaps Gloria Steinem is right after-all, and we’ve selectively I’ll-bred and programmed you ‘feminised’ men into being ‘too weak and stupid masochists to live’. Please do as the movie wants. Even we anti-feminist women don’t want even our daughters exposed to an entire group of people so pathetic, useless, inferior, NO pride, self respect, value, importance even dignity in death as anything but negative role models.

There may be only one thing we anti-feminist female scientists agree with Gloria Steinem and NOW regarding, perhaps we have sadistically dominated to do badly you men are too weak and stupid to tolerate, no let live, anymore. You are why the SCUM Manifesto is not only Curriculum in universities now, soon the core of ‘toxic masculinity’ already official public school policy today. SPOILER WARNING Not a bad movie, but not a timeless classic either. I think a lot of people don’t like this movie because they either didn’t pay complete attention or they were distracted on their phones. Either one of these would cause people to not understand the movie. These are my thoughts on the film. If you rearrange all of the letters of Lev Dellrayne you will spell out Deer Valley Ln. Rourke hid the meaning of Find Lev Dellrayne so well that he forgot the original meaning and that is why it took him 13 tries to remember. Yes the dialogue can be eye rolling at times and feel fake, unnatural, and or bad. Then again you could say everyone Rourke is interacting with is fake and pretending to be someone they really aren’t so perhaps it’s the other characters not being able to hold up the facade well even if they’ve all acted out the story numerous times. There are a couple of parts where I was sitting back thinking yeah that wouldn’t happen. The part where the man is sitting on the couch with a sawed of shotgun in Mexico and asks who is at the door in English. 100% he would have asked in Spanish. The part where the hacker is able to decrypt a police database in a matter of seconds. Where is the electricity coming from for him to use such a piece of equipment and it’s too fast to be reality. The part where they go to a jail facility and there is no staff. Then again when I think about it, it all goes back to everyone not holding up the facade well. I know alot of people complain with how Rourke behaves throughout the film. People say he should be more animated at certain parts, but I believe Rourke acts the way he does because he is so sad, so guilt ridden that he just doesn’t have any happiness left in him. Imagine if your daughter was kidnapped because you took your eyes off of her for a moment and you didn’t know if she was dead or alive for three years and you finally found her, part of you might think it’s not real it’s just a dream and you don’t want to get excited for no reason. All in all I liked this movie despite what people say. It’s definitely worth a watch. Personally I would wait to stream it because most movie theaters nowadays are garbage and aren’t worth the money.

I think you missed the point of the film. Everything you criticise is deliberate and done tongue in cheek. From the 90s b movie sound track to Ben Affleck doing a brilliant impersonation of Steven Segal to the exposition. It is hilarious and only works because it is played with a straight face. This is the film inception and tenet could have been if they weren't so poefaced and at 93 minutes there is no dead wood. Marvel could learn lots from Rodriguez. Most enjoyable film of the year a total triumph and a work of genius you just need to be in on the joke. Love on ya.

This was a good movie. If you don't like mindbending movies then this might not be your kind of movie. I don't see how anyone can call this dumb just because it is heavy in the mindbending element. i don´t want to be rude or sarcastic so i will counter your opinion with my opinion because of this statement. (I don't see how anyone can call this dumb just because it is heavy in the mindbending element) .the movie is dumb in my opinion because of a crucial paradox that i will now explain. The Procedure (the 13th try of the procedure) is like all other procedures to monitor his behavior. that means he is in main focus all the time with 100ts of eyes fallowing every step he is taking during the bank robbery but somehow he manage to jump in a van and escape. one can argue of course that everyone has been hypnotized by Rourke but why showing the surprise of everyone when they can`t find him. this is among other things is a dumb writing mistake that is easy spotted especially if the movie is compared to Inception or shutter island where this movie pics the ideas from.

The stupid comic book outfits of the bad guys. And the end! Spoiler alert, all 30 of the bad guys get blasted by a shotgun in front of the family and they are just hanging out and relaxing and looking at the scene like they were watching a pretty sunset. Spoilers ahead: I think there was three main things that bugged me about this movie: 1. The first half becomes completely irrelevant after the big reveal. 2. There were so many situations where the "evil hypnotic guy" could have just been shot, but they didn't. If a guy can literally make you kill yourself by looking at you and he is just standing there while you have a gun, why would you not shoot? 3. Why did the Division never attempt to "recreate Project Domino"? They have an entire department full of hypnotic people. Why settle for one super hypnotic when you can have several?
@stacherywelles4017
@stacherywelles4017 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you on the first one, but obviously it was needed for the plot twist so we could see it wasn’t real. So i don’t get why that bothers you lol. 2. He didnt kill him because he thought the guy knew where his daughter is. Since he found the picture. His memory was obviously wiped than. Why would he shoot his only lead. He also wasn’t affected by the guy’s hypnosis until the phone call. 3. The daughter was born a super hypnotic because her parents are 2 powerful hypnotics. they said that in the movie. Its not like she just spawned out of a lab. She became project domino because they wanted to use her as a weapon. They can’t just endlessly make more like her because the other hypnotics are not that strong to birth a super version. All these things were pretty obvious so either you didn’t pay attention or just complain a lot
@insertclevernamehere1186
@insertclevernamehere1186 Жыл бұрын
@stacherywelles4017 2. He was being affected by the evil guy's power long before phone call (maybe not full body control, but a lot of perception alteration), not to mention he had already brainwashed two other cops and his partner into mindless weapons. As for him being the only lead to his daughter l, he'd most likely have a phone on him that they could have used to glean some info off of, but it's honestly way to big a risk to have some that dangerous running around. 3. They... could just have them bang again? I mean, they have the two parents, with the mother believing she's on their side, so they could just recreate the night they conceived their first daughter or something and birth another. Or have him impregnate a bunch of the women hypnotics at the organization so they have a higher quantity of possible Dominio 2.0s. In science, you don't just have one success and call it a day, you run multiple tests.

you can't enjoy this film if you don't buy into an idea of "hypnotics"/ability to alter your perception of reality. If it comes as silly to you, the whole movie becomes silly. But if you do, you can enjoy it quite a lot. The whole idea is derived from Yoga practice called Pratyahara, where you are basically trained to be in control over your sensory inputs with the goal to shut them all down, to be able to proceed into the next stage. Once you are in control of your own sensory inputs, you can develop the power of controlling sensory inputs and perceptions of others (classic example: snake changes into a rope, yogi climbs the rope and disappears in the sky). those are not fantasy stories, this is real. Yogi is in control of your senses (just for the show and for the money), because he is in control of his senses. in this film, this potential is way exaggerated of course, but the base is real. therefore, I enjoyed, until the last scene, where they actually killed a lot of people and said - now we are free. that was too much for my stomach to digest, because this is not how freedom works. all the rest can potentially work as showed. only it has nothing to do with hypnoses, the whole mechanism is very different.

I do think comparing it to blockbusters like inception (which also has many flaws) is a little unfair. lol after reading back I’m surprised at myself how much I’m defending this movie haha

It wasn’t as bad as people make it out to be. It was just a little overly ambitious and had too much going on. they wanted it to be a mind bender but they did one, two, many twist resulting in confusing the audience.

If they had stuck with the noir sci-fi thriller they started with, with a troubled cop searching for this potential telepath where the protagonist cant trust anything he sees or hears, that could have been really cool. Buuuuut they literally just tossed it out the window and opted for the most contrived wanna be Christopher Nolan love letter I've ever seen. What a joke of a movie.

Look I can see how this movie would be enjoyed by kids. Kids don't really need all the elements that make a good film for them to enjoy it. But this is rated a 15, and most people above that age would probably be able to identify a lot of the flaws in this film; which make it bad. Like how there's no degree of subtly and the dialogue is about as flavourful as water. Being a teenager now, I hate this. But if I was younger, I probably would have liked it.

Other than Mr Ben Affleck, who I think made the best SuperHero - William Fichtner got me thinking though! 🤔Like, wasn't he 'The Sheriff' in Invasion (TV series) Kind of a 'low-budget' B grade feel. The feeling you had like "there's a lot more" made me chuckle !😉😊

I swear this movie gave off "Fallen" vibes with actor Denzel Washington. Except Fallen was wayyyyy better. Even down to the name "Mick" ...a character name both movies have. I was just waiting for the song to play..."Tiiiiimmme, is on my side! Yes it is!"

This movie shows two things, first it shows how good Christopher Nolan really is, i can only imagine how good this movie would be if directed by him, because the ID behind it is amazing. Second, writing is so essential, that even with those top actors you cant have a fluid dialog. I really wanted to enjoy it, but was just silly, and that in the end comes to the Director that should stick to what he is good at, kids movies and hack and slash stuff.

This felt like the most faithful comic book adaptation ever. Only problem is it’s an original screenplay. Way too much exposition and an ending they had to fully explain to the viewer. Not a good movie in any sense, but certainly watchable.

Absolutely horrible movie: the underlying plot, including the hypnotics, is just too absurd to allow an audience to suspend disbelief.

Im glad theres people that enjoyed it. Wasmt for me though. I jist feel liek the powers were so under explained especially how they worked against each other. If thr kittle girl was so powerful how did the villian dude trick them into seeing him die when it was really the "grandfather" guy?

This movie, like the movie two years ago with the same name "Hypnotic", is not too good. The use of Hypnotism can be interesting, but if you can hypnotize anyone in the flash of a second and even make people do anything you want, then any plot would start to get ridiculous. If you could replace and implant memories, and even create completely fake realities like in this film, it is no longer hypnotism but rather complete mind control. Anyone with one-tenth of the powers shown in this movie could easily control the entire world. With this basically nonsensical premise, any plot cannot help being ridiculous. By comparison, terminators are far more believable.

That’s what I’m saying they should’ve explained it better. Could they only control people they can see or can they control people even if they can’t see them.

YES!! Totally inception at one point. It was just...strange. Really needed to not hold the twist for so long but bring it forward...a lot....and then make the movie all about finding a way to solve the issue. Rather than the premise of the movie changing every 20 minutes. Strangely...I watched Werewolf fro 2016 and that budget, and somewhat slow and boring movie, was far more interesting than this tripe
