I wish I could describe the 225 to you. Imagine walking into your local grocery store and you walk out into the hanger if the plane. Such a beautiful large unreal beast.

I by the grace of god I think was lucky enough to get to go inside one. 9740 sq ft inside. That’s a lot. It is a marvel.

No, the F-16 was not designed to have low radar visibility, it was designed to have high speed and maneuverability. Radar stealth was not a design criteria for that aircraft. The new radar-absorbing paints were first used on certain parts of that aircraft in the mid 2000's, and the current Have Glass V complete aircraft paint system was used beginning around 2020.

At 0:50 there's a shot of an A-10 being painted. I've been in that facility. Of course they weren't painting at the time. I was the calibration lab supervisor from 1977 - 1983 at Fairchild in Hagerstown, MD where final assembly and test flights took place. Great company.

A polished aircraft such as the old American Airlines saves on heat absorption and actual weight of the plane due to paint.

Cooling is on the ground. It is around -40 at 30,000 ft altitude. Seems to me you would want to heat the aircraft.

That’s what I was thinking too. Maybe it’s the wind friction from flying at high speed causes the the aircraft body to get hot, even in sub zero temperatures.

The Sun's UV rays are very strong at high elevation and can deteriorate paint much faster than Sea Level even though the AIR TEMP is very low. Did you ever go hiking at 10,000 feet without your hat on? Our lower atmosphere protects us from most harmful rays.

For a few months back in 1995 I lived in an apartment across from the Boeing widebody plant in Everett WA. Late one Wednesday evening I happened to be out driving as a brand new, bare metal 747 was being towed across the bridge that connects the main assembly plant from the three paint buildings. The plane was towed into one of them, and on Saturday afternoon the doors popped open and out it rolled, sparkling in Singapore Airlines livery. That plant made for a very interesting 'neighbor'.

Way back when president Jimmy Carter revealed the existence of the B-2 stealth bomber, Johnny Carson had some pretty good comments. (I paraphrase.) "They say it has a very small radar cross section about the size of a sparrow. Won't the Russians be suspicious of a formation of sparrows flying 600 miles per hour at thirty thousand feet?" And, "If you really can't see the things, why didn't we just save the money and just TELL the Russians we had them."

Well, if the US would have lied to Russians about having them, then the aircrafts couldn't carry out any actual missions against Russians, which was the whole point of constructing them in the first place!

@@MichelleVisageOnlyFans That is only one "point". Another, and perhaps vastly more important one, is that the Russians pretty much find out secrets anyway. So, its existence is a deterrent. Better yet, as Reagan proved, if you can force Russia to try and compete with such projects, they simply can't afford it and it financially cripples them. Russia, with its small economy, trying to spend enough to compete with the U.S. is what "won" the "Cold War".

i don't think i would find stripping the paint off and repainting an aircraft to be " hypnotizing" sounds more like drudgery to me. not sure why that overused word was used in this context. at least there weren't any "aircrafts" used.

Some good information on aircraft painting in the first half, but you then go off-piste for a significant period talking about ship construction. While you do pull it back for your concluding paragraph, I’m afraid it’s not enough to rescue a failing grade. Remember: it’s not all about word-count, and suddenly switching tack to talk about how yummy marshmallows are in the middle of you video or whatever is likely to lose your viewers. Please rewrite and get it to me by Monday. 4/10

The Zumwalt has to be the ugliest vessel on the surface of the water. In order to deal a king hit to that ship you don't need technology, just good old fashioned line of sight aimed guns. Re: the movie Battleship.
