Mah childhood…. The PS2 was a huge part of my life during my early teens. I swear, gaming was different back in those days. There was something absolutely magical about the PS2. From the start up, the games, you can just tell it was the next generation in gaming (at the time). Unfortunately, playing the console nowadays will never emulate the times I had back then, but I can relive the best parts only in my memories. Hearing the waves in the background and seeing those glowing orbs dance around in the darkness will always bring me back. Sony really knocked it out of the park with the PS2. There’s a reason it’s STILL the best selling console of all time. In my opinion, it will always be the best console.
@Zarathinius Жыл бұрын
I don't like to put on the rose-tinted glasses and assume everything I liked as a teenager was The Best Ever, but man... the PS2 really was a high-water mark for a certain era of video gaming that I'm not sure we'll see again. Sure, I had fewer worries and cares in those days and I could just enjoy my silly video games in peace, which makes the memory feel warmer and nostalgic. But the industry that makes games and consoles has changed forever, in very real ways.
@RickyHadou Жыл бұрын
@@Zarathinius well said, brother. I agree with all of this wholeheartedly. I’m sure some of it is nostalgia, but there’s just something about the PS2’s mystique. True, it came at a part of my life where I had no struggles or worries, but the fact remains gaming just hit different back then. Definitely a era we’ll probably never have again.

In case isn't obvious, since the western market (tried to) domitate the market shareholders are the target audience, not players. More than that, there was a debate about games being art or not, and Japan was trying to make "a point" with tittles like ICO or SH. There's no 2023 equivalent to SH2, the "artistry" of modern "classics" like Bioshock it's at the level of depth of Tim Burton movies if anything. Also, gaming in console was mostly a solitary experience, reflected on the games, the menu ambience, etc. No Tropies or DMs. So, in short yes boomer nostalgia is cringe but the console market is one of the things that absolutely gone downhill, like, objectively developers aren't even wanting to do something good. What you're hearing is introspection and mystery, nothing you'll find in current times

That's because it's mysterious and magical in the best form possible. I am here to change that, it is not like the stereotypes say to sit in a butterfly pose and always hum. Make this your habit, and you will love yourself and your inner peace you've created with your habit.

Have we cheapened our experience with technology by making it too accessible? Is this technology just too ubiquitous? What can we do as we move forward to build in a sense of awe and wonder about life, about science, about nature? How can technology inspire and motivate us to become better and more aware? How can we use technology to evolve, rather than relying on it as a crutch?
