Nana, I'm very happy that you are planning to go back to Ukraine to visit your family and friends. That's a long time to not have seen your mom so I know you are excited. It sounds dangerous but hopefully there will be a way to work around the danger. I love your sweet soothing voice and I enjoyed hearing about where you grew up and seeing where all the countries are. It brought to life an area of the world that I know nothing about. Thank you for what you do in your videos because I think you make the world a more relaxing and beautiful place for many people.

I'm so happy to know you're returning to visit Beautiful Ukraine. I'm part Ukrainian and have a special place in my heart for Ukraine and its wonderful people. Nicolas Schmatko is Ukrainian and my favorite Modern day sculptor. Amazingly, he looks so Much like my younger brother! Our Ukrainian DNA came out strong! And my beautiful niece looks Eurasian, the asian genetic influence from such close proximity to Asia. Such lovely people are the Ukrainians❣

I enjoyed this so very much! Thank you for sharing with us about Ukraine and your experiences growing up and living there. I wish you all the very best later this year as you journey home and find the safest and most enjoyable way to visit your mother. How exciting to be able to visit home after such a long time. PS - This map tracing + narrative is both informative and mesmerizing, and would love to see more videos like this teaching us about Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Out of curiosity, is your native language Ukrainian or Russian, or both?

This video was so relaxing, thank you Nana Fox ❤️. I learned so much about Ukraine, I didn't realise that Crimea was a separate island, I thought it was north closer to Russia 😂. Hope you have a safe trip back home, and that you don't encounter any conflict while there. The news always focuses on the negative activities in the Eastern European countries. If anything, Ukraine sounds beautiful, I hope to visit one day ☺️❤️ thank you for sharing this with us.

This is such a fascinating video Nana, thank you ❤️ I have a special place in my heart for The Ukraine because my grandpas parents were from Odessa. Although they moved to the United states the 1910s, I have still always felt a connection to Ukraine knowing part of my family had a life there. Sorry if this is too personal of question, but we’re you or any of your family affected by Chernobyl in the 80s?
@NanaFox4 жыл бұрын
My father in law, was sent there after the explosion to serve in the food industry, they were not told about the danger of the radiation. He is ok now. My uncle lost his leg because of the radiation, he was working on that nuclear plant at he time. Odessa is a very nice city, I've been there only once, but I loved it.

Wonderful video, Nana. It's so great to understand the layout of a country we hear so much about on the news. I was mesmerized! I have a question for you: My husband's father was from the Ukraine but he moved to England during the war and settled down. He seemed to change the way his name was pronounced probably to make it easier to say in English. Our surname is Polywka and we have always said it Pol-ooka. I wonder if you know how it would have been said in Ukraine? Thank you so much for all you do on this channel. :)
@NanaFox5 жыл бұрын
Hi Keira, It's hard to tell now, as your last name would have been spelled in Cyrillic alphabet in Ukraine, the Latin transliteration that you use now may have gone through some changes over the decades. I would assume it was transliterated into Polish first and that is how it's got a W. If that was the case I would pronounce it as Polivka, similar to the word live :-) Po-live-kah
