This is so interesting and confusing. So a year and a half ago. My doctor sent me to the lab for blood work. I was 46 and was 292 pounds. 6ft tall. It's the heaviest I'd ever been. Test came back with thyroid issues, hypothyroidism, and pre diabetes. I was low on a couple other things, I can't remember, but one was vitamin D3 with gluten intolerance. Also, my testosterone was really low at 103. I went on medication for thyroid and testosterone. My doctor also had me start taking berberine. I also cut down on sugar and bread, stopped drinking soda and pretty much went gluten-free. I struggle with the diet from time to time, but I have managed to go from 292 pounds to 215 pounds. In about 16 months. Over this winter I went back to some old ways and didn't keep up with my nightly walk. I quickly gained 8 pounds and I felt like junk in the morning. No energy tired but can't fall asleep and feeling bummed out. I've since started my diet again and have started to feel better. I want to get tested again, but what type of blood test should I get to see if I have insulin resistance, and are their any other test I should look at? Thank you so much for taking the time to do these videos.

Dr. Childs I am crying because I had lost all hope in ever being able to feel normal...I always say I know people around me don't KNOW how I FEEL on a daily basis. This video has given me hope of feeling alive and crawling out this deep black depressive hole I'm isolated in. How I wish I could be your patient so bad. I’m 37. Diagnosed with hypothyroidism at age 3. I’ve been on levothyroxine for all my life. Doctors being downright condescending and not giving a damn. I came across this channel and changed doctors for the umpteenth time. But because of the information I learnt here that no other doctor has given me before, when I met my new doctor he knew there was no way to argue around not changing my treatment. I also discovered I’m diabetic. Had bloods done and finally prescribed T3 along with my T4. I also take selenium with them. Metformin for my diabetes and it’s been three weeks and already a world of difference. The only thing still bugging me is my depression but I’m sure everything will slowly fall into place for the better.

Love Dr. Childs!! I found out after 3 years I had iron deficiency without anemia in 2021. Then it caused hypothyroidism then hashimotos when my iron crashed again in 2023. I exercise daily (hard) and eat extremely clean and high protein. Well… my integrative doctor just did an organic acid test… I’m riboflavin deficient. Riboflavin is responsible for iron storage!! And metabolism. Lack of iron and low ferritin broke my thyroid. You lose riboflavin by heavy exercise!!! It’s all connected.. So don’t forget to add a B complex!!!

i was pre-diabetic with 122,5kg and i went to a keto diet five month ago and i lost 10kg now (=2kg per month avg.) without being hungry. blood sugar levels are also down - normally under 100. i feel much better now. i don't get tired throughout the day anymore and i don't need to sleep that much anymore. i also take vit.d3+k2, sometimes a b-complex, sometimes alpha lipoic acid. when i feel very energetic at the evening i go jogging for 2km (now 4 running stints with 3 walking breaks in between when heart rate is too high) and the next day i feel so great. but that does only works when the body feels ready for the exercise. when you force yourself to exercise then you do not have any benefit at all (cortisol level goes up and you feel like crap). now i also take a little bit of iodine, selenium and l-tyrosin to give my thyroid every building material it needs to do it's work. let's see how that works out. i try to stay on keto diet as long as i can cause it is the right diet for me. at the end of the year maybe i am near 100kg. what i want to reach is 105kg which seems a very realistic goal within my 2kg weight loss that i could achieve per month. everything lower than 105kg is a nice bonus :-) also a word to intermittent fasting: it works on keto very good cause on keto you don't have that much hunger. and from my perspective of view, every diet with hunger in it will fail and i don't think it is healthy.

I had all the symptoms of hypothyroidism and went to my doctor who carried out a blood test. This showed that I was borderline hypothyroid and my doctor told me to come back in three months for a further blood test when he predicted I would have to start taking thyroid meds. I never went back. I started taking Lugol's iodine, a few drops per day for a few months, and this cleared up all my symptoms rapidly. I am still carrying a bit too much weight and have trouble losing it, but I think this is more because I don't get enough sleep and love all the wrong foods! I am sure this doctor is very sincere in his studies, but all too often I think we are encouraged to accept the situation - hypothyroidism in this case - and it is expected of us to go down the pharmaceutical route when what we should be doing is looking to give the thyroid what it needs to work properly instead of supplying the hormone that the thyroid is supposed to produce. Our bodies are designed to work properly and heal themselves when given the right nutrients, but if we artificially provide a hormone that the body should be making, then why would the body continue to try to make it? Naturally it won't bother and we end up taking meds for the rest of our lives.

That works if your hypothyroidism isn't autoimmune. If you have an autoimmune disorder and stimulate the thyroid in that way, you can get a stronger autoimmune response that can destroy whatever is left of your healthy thyroid tissue, faster.

The doctor said they were fine of course. Then I had bloods taken and sent to a lab which Medicare dies not cover. Why? Because it does the extensive tests that mainstream doesn't. Pretty disgusting. I lost faith in the medical system decades ago and thank God I went to a naturopathic practitioner. I wish there were more doctors who would see what is wrong with the system and do something proactive about it. I do realise that the pharmaceutical companies basically run the system for profits not to cure. Keep them sick and you have lifelong customers.

For the last ten years I have been struggling from one doctor to the next, and while I have found some progressive ones that are open to the type of testing you talk about, none of them have understood how to put all the systems together. Dr Child's, thank you for taking the time to fully explain this complex and important information and reasoning behind why and how the 20lbs in 60 days program is going to be an essential program to use to lose weight with hypothyroid. Some patients may prefer to not learn about the science and your utilization of it to create the program and may rather just jump ahead to the program itself but i for one find it impossible to trust and then follow any program without first understanding how viable/safe/appropriate it is for me and why/how exactly it will realistically benefit me. So again, thank you for putting your time and effort into explaining all of this, very appreciated!

PLEASE RESPOND: I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. For 10 years I was on the lowest dose of Synthroid (25mcg) because I was allergic to thryoxine/synthroid (itching, red welts like hives). Based on swollen ankles, high body inflammation, hair starting to fall back out, brittle nails, weight gain and recent bloodwork results, it has been increased to 50mcg 4 days of the week and 75mcg for the rest of the week, with a daily antihistamine for the allergy (the antihistamine worked). Since the dosage increase, I have felt more puffy and put on more weight (concurring with what you mentioned about Synthroid), including still having brittle nails, fatigue, high body inflammation, feet still swollen, air still comin from the roots (but a little less), and now some body pains. My question is, do I take your Hypothyroid Supplement Bundle WITH the Synthroid (I don't want to overdose) or stop taking the Synthroid when I start the Bundle? Secondly, if I am to take BOTH, would I eventually be able to come off the Synthroid over time? Finally, do I stay on your Hypothyroid Bundle for life (as I would the Synthroid) as it seems as if it may be more effective for my symptoms, including gut health, weight loss, improved thyroid function and other benefits. Synthroid is limited in what it offers and has unwanted side effects like weight gain, etc. Your video was done in 2017 and we are now in 2023, and I imagine all that you said still holds true, and hope you will respond to my queries. A lot of You Tubers put themselves out there to help with information, increase followers and sell their products, but do not respond. Please respond. Would greatly appreciate it, if you still read these comments...

I've just watched your presentation and could sit and cry, you're the only person I've heard that actually knows what they're talking about. I'm in England and I've asked my gp for certain tests, but I've been refused, so I've paid privately. My Dr. will only prescribe T4, even though some symptoms persist. I'm going to try and find a lab that will do all of your recommended tests. In May 2017 I introduced T3 only taking a quarter of 25mcg to supplement the T4, but ran out. It's very hard to get here, had to send for it from Turkey. I've been without it for 3 mths and I've put weight on, even though my eating patterns haven't changed, in fact I never feel hungry, oh and I've noticed some hair loss. This week I managed to track down some T3, from Bulgaria, can't wait for it to arrive. I did lose some weight on the Keto diet, but could only keep with it for 6mths as I found I was just eating the same foods, I need to be more creative lol. Thanks so much for this information, I'm going to work my way through the rest of your videos 👍😊❤
