Concerning the Triforce, it's described as being the "Essence of the Gods" and the "Divine Providence" of the Goddesses, and so given that, it is more-or-less the physical counterpart of the Goddesses left within the physical realms, suggesting that through the Triforce, the Goddesses maintain the physical realms -- something supported by the crumbling of Lorule, as you mentioned. So, as for the Goddesses' intentions in leaving/creating the Triforce, I believe it served as a necessary act (as necessary an act and intent as we can speculate for a long-running video-game series, at least) and an inevitable outcome that not even the Goddesses could have stopped unless they simply chose to not create anything and remain in the heavens. What I mean by that is that the Goddesses sheer power at converging together at the end of their creation and departing for the heavens resulted in the creation of the Triforce in some part as a residual leftover force, but also as an intentional force since the Triforce is their Divine Providence, indicating that the Triforce was their Divine Will. Divine Providence in theology is ascribed as a deity's intervention within the cosmos, and is typically seen in two aspects with "general providence" -- the maintenance of natural order -- and "special providence" -- the direct intervention within the mechanics and specifics of creation. In observation of that, I think we can see that the Goddesses' intentions in creating the Triforce was as much necessary as it was their desire to do so. The Triforce was necessary for the maintenance of the natural order, but also for the Goddesses' interventions within Hyrule and the world as it was their essence left within the world.

I think that, since they were gods with unlimited power, it makes more sense that they purposefully built a world that relies on the Triforce for its existence (maybe to teach the virtues of Wisdom and Courage?). If they could only make a world in a specific way, that kind of undermines their divinity.

But he was a "friend" of the King. Only Zelda and Impa knew of the Danger he really was. Well the composer brothers too, but they killed themself in fear of Ganondorf taking their researchs. Maybe Nabooru ? She was trying to obtain the Power gloves and renverse him, but we all know how she failed ... Impa could have, well, the King wouldn't understood until being betrayed, so, right after he tried to capture Zelda ... Impa saved Zelda, there is no way she would be able of killing him. The second he obtained the Triforce of Power, only the Hero was able to kill him. But Link doesn't killed him like TP Link will, thanks to the scare made by the light blade of the ancient sages. He was sealed into the Dark Realm, beyond the realm of the dead, the equivalent of Tartarus in this Universe. Never they thought he would be able to escape this seal. He literally came back from Hell with just his hatred and the Triforce of Power. Until Ganondorf still has his Triforce of Power within him, he can only be killed by the Master Sword. If OOT Link didn't pulled it back from his forehead, it would had finished just like TWW ending. Then why ALBW Link was able to kill Yuganon, when they had two Triforce parts ? Well, maybe the fusion between those two was incomplete ? Maybe that Hyrule's Triforce is not efficient in other worlds ? IDK

I think what happened was that since they used their infinite power to create the world, they had to leave an infinite source of the same power to stabilize it. See how Lorule is "dying" when it's Triforce is destroyed.
@grackleking64135 жыл бұрын
PsYan #3390 good point: Hyrule needs the triforce to keep from descending into chaos. Therefore, it was probably intentionally left there. Otherwise, it was kind of sloppy of the gods to accidentally leave a relic of unimaginable power, like a holy grail.

To your question of why the Goddesses created the Triforce - I’ve always thought it represents the ability of the inhabitants of Hyrule to exercise self-determination i.e. free will. It expresses the conditions required for sentient existence and the harmonic balance that must be kept in balance. In times when this balance is not kept the functions of the Gods is, as you say, to intervene to restore balance. Against the alternative - no free will and a state of animal existence - the Goddesses created a line of agency through Hylia to Zelda and Link - who represent the notion of a cyclical and recurring concept of destiny to counterbalance the idea of pure human agency (which would in truth be a version of a God-like power). So I’d suggest that just as the Triforce is itself made of three components, so to the balance of existence rests in the harmony between this Triforce, the concept of fate / destiny, and the ability of the Goddesses to intervene and essentially “reset” the experiment in existence that their creation of Hyrule initiated. In that reading the story carried through the entire series is an exploration of theology vs determinism vs free will.

At the end of Ocarina of Time, when Zelda sent Link back on time, was he in possession of the Triforce of Courage? If so, how did it went back to the Adult Timeline? And who broke the Triforce of Courage into pieces and scattered them in the Great Sea? It could not have been Link, as there was no hero at the time, right? I forgot if this was explained in the Wind Waker...
@Paladin25555 жыл бұрын
Gustavo Carvalho- Wind Waker takes place in the adult timeline, so Link would have the triforce of courage, as Ganon and Zelda would have the triforces of power and wisdom, respectively.
@nonoctoro49335 жыл бұрын
It was said in TWW that right after the Hero of Time left this World, his Triforce of Courage was shattered. The Triforce of Courage of the Child Timeline is not the same one, this one was still in the Sacred Realm, it returned to Link when he arrived. The fragments of the Triforce of Courage were took by those who built the Tower of the Gods and hidden in the mountain tops that would become the Islands of the Great Sea. ( Those people are probably the Wind Tribe. )
@PiercingSight5 жыл бұрын
As for the timeline, the timeline where Link defeated Ganondorf at the end of OOT continued to exist even after Link was sent into the past. A new timeline was created in parallel to the existing one by Zelda, the new timeline being the child timeline, and the already existing timeline being the adult timeline, where WW happens.
@TheBrutalSax5 жыл бұрын
Adult timeline Triforce shattered when he went back in time, simply because the triforce cant be separated like that (either all of it exists, or none of it exists (like in Lorule for ALBW). Link came from the sacred realm when he went back in time, so it broke again into 3 and like it initially did, the pieces went to those who were worthiest of the pieces.

You forgot the pre war situations... After Termina Link returned to the Kokiri Forest having unable to find Navi. Zelda had more prophetic dreams as Link did too. Ganon's twin mothers Kotake and Koume had seen the future of the 7 years and posed as Termina civilians to keep a close eye on the Hero of Time. When Link rescued Termina, they took flight back to the Gerudo Desert to devise a new plan. Unbeknownst to Link, they took stole some the Hero's essence during their tour boat charade. With it they created a stronger Shadow Link with one red eye who served as Ganon's right hand. There is alot more that happened. Shadow Link was fused with a prideful soldier of Hyrule who saw a vision in which he failed to protect the Princess and the Kingdom of Hyrule. Being fooled by the witches and filled with pride, he took on Link's form and shared the Shade of the Hero of Time. He became evil, but also had part of Link's abilities and essence. During the great war, Link and Zelda along with an army of Hylians, Zoras, and Gorons took on Ganon and his minions. The greatest battle was between the two Links. Finally Shadow Link took a fatal blow of the master sword and repented as he died. Zelda told him he would live with regret of having not passed his knowledge to his people and would be cursed until he would be able to in 100 years. Navi comes forth with the Twili and they banish Ganon into that realm. The people ate enlightened and finally humbled and recognize Link as their Hero of Time. Link is able to live out his life with his wife and children.

I have a theory about the Zora. Though they have the Saltwater Zoras from Majora's Mask, the Zora's of OoT were freshwater lake and river people. The waters were too deep, full of monsters and salted. They survived by becoming surface swimmers and occasionally leapt over the water just like flying fish. Back and forth between the ocean and volcano. Eventually their gliding fins evolving into wings and their noses into beaks.

The reason why no new hero appeared has to do with what's mentioned in A Link to the Past. Only a descendant of the Hylian Knights can be chosen as a hero, and we know they were wiped out in the seven years between Young Link and Adult Link's time

You'd think instead of directly dealing with Ganon themselves...the godesses would just find a new Link. Kind of weird that there wasn't one when he burst out of his seal.
