The Hysolis Apollo 5K... what a power station. This unit leaves us with a lot of questions. It's an amazing power station, and a lot of other people have rightfully talked highly about it. BUT, when it comes to buying it, we think it only makes sense for a small, select group of people. That doesn't mean it isn't awesome! But when taken by a realistic, everyday consumer approach... we wonder! It has an amazing Solar Input, and some great potential expandability specs int terms of having the largest expansions size, and inverter size once you start really spending money on these things.. but is it worth it, or should you just purchase the Delta Pro Ultra instead? Great video! I came to the same conclusions. Another thing to consider.....even after you buy two Apollos (to more closely match the DPU's inverter and 240 volt capability), you still only have 25 Amps coming out of two combined Apollos. In addition, if I had that kind of cash and bought two DPU's, you actually end of up with the ability to have 50 amps from those two DPU units tied together with the available voltage hub. So just a thought....don't forget about the actual amps coming out of those outlets. For the Anker 3800, you aren't getting 50 amps out of that "50 amp" receptacle. You only get 25 amps. At least with the DPU, you get a true 30 amps out of the single unit 30 amp 240 volt receptacle.

Great feedback, it's always great to hear from someone who owns the unit(s).
@criticalhadlock8869 ай бұрын
Also, I forgot to mention, you would need to purchase 4 Apollos to get 50 Amp service. You only need 2 DPU's to get 50 amp service. 4 Apollos is quite a bit of money.

Yes. 6000w inverter ÷ 240v is 25A and DPU 7200w inverter ÷ 240v is 30A.
@ralphpezda65234 ай бұрын
That depends on whether two or more Apollos are set up as a single large 120V unit or two or four Apollos are set up for 120/240V split phase. In split phase L1 and L2 are each 120V to output 240V.

Here is what you missed: capital cost per charge. The capital cost per charge of two Apollos is cheaper than one Ultra, even though two Apollos require a higher initial outlay. Apollos rate at 6,000 charge cycles whereas Ultra rate only 3,600. If used every day an Apollo will last slightly less than 17 years whereas an Ultra will last slightly less than 10 years. I cannot address tech support for Ultras but Hysolis is top notch and very fast. They have answers when you need them. Apollo tips: the hot spot for the on switch for the AC inverter is actually located below the icon for the switch. Touch the screen below the on switch and it should work fine. Grounding: you can connect the ground wire to a extention chord with the hot and cold wires disconnected at the plug. That way only the ground pole (green wire) is connected. Plug the chord into a wall socket and the Apollo will then use the ground in your house circuit breaker box. Leave the ground inside of the Apollo that way it came from the factory. Hysolis uses this method for grounding at their facility in California where they test Apollos. Do NOT do this if your Apollo is connected to your house through a transfer box. Your circuit breaker box will supply the ground in that situation. You NEVER need two grounds. One ground in any part of your system is enough to ground it all. Having two grounds can create a dangerous ground loop. When you use solar panels consult your manufacturer or installer for instruction regarding grounding your solar panels or not. Charging an Apollo: you can solar charge and wall or generator charge an Apollo at the same time for faster charging. However, you cannot wall charge AND generator charge an Apollo at the same time. Charging an Apollo: you need an inverter generator with 3% or less THD to generator charge an Apollo or else the Apollo will not accept the charge. It will reject power with more than 3% THD because an Apollo is classified a sensitive electronic equipment. Generators rated more than 2, 000 to 3,000 watts are usually not inverter generators. The adapter you showed that comes with every Aoollo is for a NEMA 5-15 wall socket, not a 30A outlet of any kind. The Apollo charge acceptance rate must be set or changed in the settings menu, either 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25A. No matter what your power source the Apollo won't charge at an amp rate higher than you set per the menu. Obviously, a NEMA 5-15 plug won't fit a 30A RV outlet because it is designed to mate with a NEMA 5-15 outlet. It won't even get warm at 5, 10, or 15A charge rates. You can charge AND use an Apollo when the charge rate is set at 5A. Any higher and the AC inverter must be turned off, i.e., you CANNOT wall or generator charge AND use an Apollo at a 10, 15, 20, or 25A charge rate.

Thanks for posting this video about the unit's pros and cons. All the videos I have seen on KZbin never post any cons. They also never tell the viewers to get the full benefit of the unit, you really need to buy two of them.

I really wanted this system but the price tag kept me away. Out of the blue one popped up on marketplace 3200 for the unit and a expandable battery couldn't pass it up. Very happy with it I plan on adding another unit in the future to run 240

You should check out the SP240 from Point Zero Energy. 120v / 240v single standalone unit. It's low frequency, not high frequency like these the high frequency China units. Just check the difference between low and high frequency. Low frequency is way better,stronger,serviceable. Big plus, the PZ Energy unit us twin phase single unit,240v and can utilize any battery / battery chemistry. 240v twin phase 4000 watt continuous 8000w surge, dual ups, high voltage solar input

For the price it definitely seems like the delta and anker are much more practical. Their email response was lame. They may want to rethink the price tag just saying.

overall a good fair intro of this piece. their so called 30 day guaranteed return is not a 100% refund. i confirmed this long ago. they deduct from that paid price if you return it. you need to know that.

The Hysolis is a toroidal inverter so it's better if you have inductive loads like large fans or pumps and will last longer.

After $2000.00 I’m building my own. I love Ecoflow but they have way too many refurbished units and slow customer service. If I had to pick I’d definitely buy the Hysolis without a hesitation. Point Zero Titan is still my top pick.

Doesn’t the Hysolis last twice as long (6000 cycles)? If so, the price comparison doesn’t matter since you’ll have to buy two EcoFlow delta pro Ultras during one Hysolis lifespan.
@TheSolarLab6 ай бұрын
They just advertise a different number as far as i remember. EcoFlow advertises 3500 to 80% & then 6000 to 60% (somewhere in the fine print) & Hysolis is the exact same.. they just advertise the 6000 cycles to make it look better. They never say "6000 to 80%" likely because it is not. most these batteries are the same!
