Thanks for sharing the removal and install. Would have been nice to see the rebuild, but just the same thank you for knowledge sharing. I said in an earlier post I just picked up a 1995 H-155HD 2ith 2,71 hrs on a 4 cyl Perkins. I'm going through the machine as well: all filters, belts and fluids. May take off front wheels/axels do brakes and grease bearings. Thank you again

Yeah I didn't do the rebuild myself, since I thought the rod may need to be rechromed. I need to do the tilt cylinders this winter, I'll try to do those myself. I also only have one functioning brake. The last owner replaced the mechanical parking brake with a hydraulic one, and when they did that they only ran one brake line. It stops fine, but I should probably get the brakes sorted out :) Good luck with yours.

From the way the invoice is written I wonder if they re-chromed the rod or just replaced it?

Hmm, you could be right.

Just picked up a 1981 Hyster forklift for my shop. The lift cylinder leaks bad when it telescopes to the second stage. Going to have to pull it and rebuild it like you did. Doesn't look too bad of a job just labor intensive.

Yes just be careful with how you block the carriage, as it weighs a fair bit, you don't want it dropping unexpectedly. FWIW the hydraulic filter was cheapest at the dealer ($20 CDN ). I was surprised they still stocked it. I probably could have removed the guard/fence to make getting the cylinder out easier. Good luck!
