@@aprilmcfadden8502 Had my surgery Nov 9 it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Stay hydrated get some colace and a tilt recliner. I'm still in recovery and it gets better everyday. I stopped taking pain meds 2 days after I came home. I'm over weight as well so I was scared about my stomach over lapping the incision but use gauze and clean incision with half water half peroxide and you will heal quicker on the outside. I'm so blessed and highly favored I'm grateful. Hope this helps 🥰

My wonderful Oncologist made sure that I had no issues with gas. Apparently, some women have gas up to their shoulders. My doctor said she worked very hard to pump the gas out before I went to Recovery, she was thrilled that I didn't have any issues with it. I found having an electic recliner very helpful to have, my daughter gifted me a used one which I still favour rather than sleeping in a bed, so comfortable and easy to get out of. I also fasted for four days before my surgery as well as before during and after radiation treatment.

I just had a total laparascopic hysterectomy last month. Before my surgery, I have been cooking food everyday and stocked them in the freezer. My husband didn’t have a hard time thinking what is he going to prepare for me daily. I didn’t have a hard time on my bowel movement. The doctor also adviced me to walk to prevent blood clots. The next day, I was able to take a shower. Now it’s my 3rd week and recovering fast. I can do light household chores now. I also keep myself busy in the bedroom, crocheting beanies for the preparation of the winter season. Thanks for sharing your ideas!

No you rebreath the off gassing. It's same as second hand smoke. He turned it off properly but you rebreath what you expel in exhaling and it makes you both nauseated and longer to arouse to take big breaths to blow away all the gases. Using a tube to intubate is what does it. My surgeon and anesthetists didn't use it so no sore throat and no rebreath g those gases because they put me to sleep through IV instead. That's tha way to go if at all possible!!! So on as they turn off meds you're fully awake inside the OR and before going to recovery.. within 5 minutes! It's awesome way to do it. Although I did research and got BEST female surgeon out there and her team. I cry due to appreciation, all the questions, explaining everything I say here and more. Using the intubation method and going through skin is not the way to go! Vaginal is only way, less invasive and no sore throat or vomiting and gas.

I had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy June 1, and until now, July 21, I still feel some pain around my navel, and still not gaining back my strength. A little move (trying do do very light house chores) makes me gasp for breath. I had my surgery in New Zealand (cheaper than in the US), applied for medical tourist and was given a 6 monts visa. My husband accompanied me as my escort, had to stay in a hotel for the rest of our stay there (2 nights at the hospital). What’s good with my husband’s being there with me the whole process and I feel blessed because he had to do all the cooking, laundry, etc. and really took good care of me and all my needs. At the hospital the Physio also taught me how to get out and in the bed properly - do not use your stomach muscles - there is also a video on YT; how to go up and down the stairs, the blueball for lung exercises, to take a small walk after eating. She also gave me a pamphlet and she taught me some basic exercises for those who had the procedure (Kegel is a must). We travelled back to our country of residence on June 21. My doctor gave me an anti blood clot med. injections to inject on my tummy every night until the trip and to wear my compression socks to prepare me for the flight.

Hello sister, thank you for sharing your journey. I’m 49, single mum that had a full hysterectomy nearly two weeks ago. I’m much stronger physically but the first few days wasn’t easy. I had a cut across my tummy so needed bed baths which wasn’t something that I was used to but fast forward a few days later, I was able to shower/ wash myself with the help of my daughter. Tomorrow I go for my 2 week check up with my doctor, so hoping that my dressings can be removed so that I can have a good shower by myself. The other major change is that since I removed my ovaries as well, I’ve gone straight into menopause. Besides the hot flushes, I’m experiencing extreme moodiness, anxiety, weepiness and depressive. I’ve started to meditate and work on healing my mind through prayer and positivity until I can consider HRT which I’m not keen on, so considering natural alternatives to increase my hormone levels. I know that it will get better everyday, I’m choosing to replace negative thoughts with positivity.

Had complete hysterectomy in 2012. Was able to have it done laparoscopically. My biggest “complication” was I blew my IV when asked to sit up after surgery (IV was in my hand so when I pushed on my hand, the vein popped). Spent a night in the hospital and went home the next. Needed very little pain medication after. Took a few weeks to feel back to 100%

Simply Shell, Thanks for the information. I am 6 days out of unscheduled total hysterectomy of abdominal, bilateral salpingectomy. I did not think I would make it, but family and love brought me through. My surgery happened because I was rushed to the ER with heavy vaginal bleeding and extreme pain. I had never seen so much blood, and my husband told me I kept going in and out of consciousness. I wish I had time to prepare myself. When your body speaks, you need to listen, and my doctors were slow to react to my concerns.

I felt it right after waking up from anesthesia up until about 1 week post op. Miralax - just one cup - was ok at home with just Tylenol and the nsaid for about 1 week. I was not given an abdominal binder or an incentive spirometer. I wonder why but 2 weeks post op and I’m feeling Okish but still can’t really bend like before and still taking it easy. My black and blue and beet red abdomen is going down now and clearing up. Thank you for all your wonderful guidance! You are definitely spot on and thank you so much for sharing your experience! Hello luv! I had a hysterectomy a week ago, and ALL of the things you put in your video are spot on. Bless you! I had to learn how to navigate a few things, like what pain med combination works best for me because I, too, don't do heavy meds, and the abdominal binder is a game changer. Each person heals differently, but you have set us all up for success with this video. Thank you! Be blessed ❤

Thank you for these tips. I'm about three weeks after my hysterectomy and I still feel miserable. Yes, my incisions are healing up well, I still feel pain in my insides and I'm doing what I can but I admit that I'm still feeling miserable and I think it's just more of the being afraid of being constipated thing so I've taken the stool softener but my problem honestly is, I don't have much of an appetite. I did try to eat a little bit more and worse, I few days after my surgery (it was December 19th), I wanted to take part in some Christmas festivities which was likely a bad idea so I overdid it. I'm babying myself now. I go from my bed to my recliner sofa day in, day out and it's frankly getting very boring but your advice is very good, especially having a good support system. My husband is doing all he can, he's a sweetheart but when he's working, I'm left to my own devices. So for the time being, I'm trying to heal up. I just wish it was faster. 😔

@@SimplyShell417 oh this pain is the truth! Surgery went well, l didn't experience nausea. I'm on day two and walking is harder and pain is more noticeable. Had a bowel moment this morning after taking a colace 100mg tablet and gas x tablets. I know it will get better and better. But this might beat labor pain with the pain in stomach and sholders lol..but hopefully worth it in the end! Thank you for your videos.

Thank you for sharing your story. I am 3 weeks post-op today and today is about the best I've felt since surgery. The first 4 days were the worst for me as well. So far, there have been as many good days as bad ones. I have nearly everything on your list except a belly binder. I did purchase some supportive underwear though. I also have a hard time not being active and pushed myself too far and had to recuperate for a couple of days. I have also learned not to allow myself to become constipated. I think that I tried to introduce certain foods back into my diet too soon. I know that my surgery was the best option for me and that it will take some time to recover. As much as I want to jump right back into my normal routine, I just can't do it right now. In order to attempt to sit still, I have decided to brush up on my music theory and learn to play the ukulele. 😊

@citygirl713 I'm nearly 6 months into recovery now, and I'm feeling great! There is still a bit of redness to my scarring and they are tender to the touch at times, but otherwise, I feel fully recovered. A friend of mine had a hysterectomy the "traditional" way years ago and said it was a good 6 months before she felt like herself. I'm thankful that I was able to have the robotic surgery and recover in such a timely manner. Best of luck to you and I hope that your recovery goes well.
