I am almost 40 and had full hysterectomy 9 years ago. It was an emotional moment for me because I had no children and would never have children in the future. The drive I had was my health was priority over everything. So yes it was done. Thumbs up Shell for your story to many who are or have had a recent hysterectomy.

I have reached the 6 mo milestone after having a complete hysterectomy with oophorectomy . I asked my Dr to get it ALL out. Age 70 is way too old to deal with bleeding. Dr also found a cancerous tumor lodged in the uterine wall. So I am glad to have all that plumbing out. Major recovery time was about 6 weeks, then I began to feel more normal. I still get random twinges. As for bladder issues.. the uterine muscles supports the bladder, so once that organ is gone, the bladder relaxes a bit. I am grateful my incontinence was temporary, however I keep a few panty liners in my bag at all times. Just know that every woman's recovery is different. Try to keep a good attitude , and if you feel down, allow yourself that time to mourn the loss. Those feelings are temporary. Love yourself. Cut yourself some slack. Ask for help when you need it. You are NOT your organs. You are your beautiful SPIRIT and you are worthy of love.

I had a full hysterectomy but still have my ovaries but no cervix. I am almost 6 months post surgery and noticed changes with my body. I am now dealing with edema/lymphedema and have researched that there is a connection with hysterectomy due to estrogen levels. Also, I’ve noticed a lot of joint pain and stiffness post surgery I didn’t have before. Not sure if menopause has kicked in but how would anyone know when they have no period.

Hey Sis Yes I had my Surgery May 2, 2023 I’m 5 days post op And I’m moving around and feeling so much better every day I had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy Cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes and left ovary removed The left ovary was unplanned until entry due to a mass I just thank God it’s over and I’m alive and up moving around the house with minimal pain I’m still taking it easy Thank you so much for enlightening others Sisters about your journey I’m definitely looking forward to the non cycle experience from the pain and suffering that I experienced sometimes twice monthly I prayed about everything and I was at peace before and afterwards When I experienced 2 cycles in April I think that put the icing on the cake God knew what he was doing because the fear for the surgery went out the window I became very much ready Day 1 I was high as a kite so I slept, I do remember being very nauseous but never vomited I’m a natural woman as well so I went with the Tylenol and Motrin only Slept on my back but now I’m sleeping on my left side releasing so much gas The gas is the worst part for me I sleep really good and now I’m coming off the meds because I’m not experiencing much pain Just gas and it does hurt to poop but stool softener are your best friend 😂 I get tired walking around the house so I’m taking it easy Every day I’m feeling better and better so I’ll walk more the better I feel Peace love and light to you Ladies ❤ Thank you for guiding light Luv

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy 2 weeks ago and im feeling great 😊😊. I can totally relate to the excitement over the feeling of emptiness where my uterus used to be. Im literally so glad she's gone, i've hated my uterus since menarche because the pain and heavy bleeding was always so overwhelming, debilitating , and embarrassing. I felt like my anatomy was a punishment, I'm 29 now, and for the first time since menarche, i finally feel like i have a shot at a good quality of life. I've also been experiencing night sweats, i walk up and down 46 stairs to do laundry, so im partially thankful to my night sweats for a speedy return of mobility lol. They knicked my ureter during the procedure, which caused me to have to keep the foley catheter in for the 2 weeks, and honestly, the catheter was the greatest source of discomfort during my healing process. I was supposed to let a nurse remove it tomorrow, but i took it out on Friday, i couldn't take it anymore lol. But as soon as i removed the catheter i instantly felt a million times better. Now the only real discomfort i feel is the itchiness at my incision site, which means its healing. I have a follow up with the surgeon on Thursday. Just wanna thank you for posting this video and sharing your story😊. Videos like this open the door for conversations that way too many women/people with uteruses have been shamed out of having. Its time for us to stop suffering in silence. Thank you to everyone in this comment section for sharing your experiences as well, im enjoying reading them, and my heart goes out to all of you ❤️.

I just got home from having a full hysterectomy and they had no choice but to cut me. They reused my c-section scar to open me up. My first day I was in excruciating pain. Turns out I had adenomyosis. I’ve had all kinds of tests and nobody ever saw it. It’s something that you usually don’t find until either the removal of the uterus or during the woman’s autopsy. I was struggling all these years not knowing why. I’ve been a bit emotional about so many things, but for the most part I think I will feel relieved that this is finally done and I don’t have to worry about constantly being in the hospital.

@mrsmotheroftwo4049I'm 8 weeks post hysterectomy. I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis as well. One day I was walking and just couldn't anymore without pain. Couldn't sit. Called my doctor, she told me to come right there. And took me straight to get a scan. One month later, I was in surgery. Already had a Tubal ligation and they used the same site. Healed cleaner than the first scar and no pain at all. My stitches were taken off one week later. I was just afraid of pulling on anything inside. I hated the catheter. My only issue is having to go to the bathroom. I feel it strongly! Eating well and taking regular short walks helps a lot. And following instructions. That was smy issue. I like to do things myself lol. You'll be fine.

So I’m in surgical menopause. Til this day I still have pain/pressure in my pelvic area if I walk too long or sit too. I haven’t gotten night sweats however if I get too hot I feel like I’m going to pass out and will need to get cool quickly. My life has definitely changed and still getting used to it. I also had the abdominal incision due to laparoscopic arms couldn’t get into my abdomen due to all the endometriosis. I also had my appendix and over a foot and half of bowels removed. I'm 4 weeks post op. Had a hysterectomy and sling surgery. The worst pain is the gas from the laproscopic surgery. Take phazyme and colace so you don't strain. Walk. My pain never got above a 3. My other advice is , be honest with your gyno about leaking. I got a sling with this surgery because I would need one later down the line because I do notice some leaking. Might as well do them both at the same time. Belly wrap helps too.

Hello. I saw your video a few days before my surgery and it instilled fear of major pain. My NJ surgeon gave me Gabepentin to prevent nerve pain, Celebrex to prevent inflammation, & 925mg of Tylenol 1 hour before surgery. A 4th med was adminstered via IV. I used 6 medicated wipes to disinfect my skin. In recovery there was no pain, just tenderness near the single incision site. My surgeon has the latest robotic equipment with one tool instead of the outdated 4 tool machine. I ate soup & a banana & drank Vitamin water 5 hrs after surgery. Also took Ibuprofen & mild prescribed narcotic before going to sleep. Day 1 post surgery I have no pain, used the ice pack on the incison, and gingerale to expel the gas. I did pick up tums😂. I hope your subscribers learn from this the importance of researching doctors that use the latest technology and win awards. Always pray for guidance in selecting your medical team. I interviewed my surgeon. My surgeon chose gyn surgery because women are under served. His parents & spouse are physicians.

I needed to urinate before being discharged and the first time that I felt like I needed to go it wasn't urine but, blood so I drank like four cups of water and ginger ale and I went🥳🥳🥳. I am on week 3. I started showing signs of an infection 3 days after but didn’t know. After telling the doctor they had me come in on day 6. Completed a painful exam and prescribed antibiotics. Immediately felt better. I don’t feel like my doctor prepared me well nor were the aftercare instructions helpful. But I am thankful that I finally feel better. And you are 100% correct, the best part is not having to plan around your cycle anymore.

Thank you for your professional video on your hysterectomy leaving out nothing too big or too small. You nailed it and your courage is amazing and uplifting. I had the same surgery you had exactly and experienced the same cons😅... Over all I feel great but a bit fatigue and getting my stomach down some is my concern... I know it takes time so ill be patient about my exercise and being out of work for another month, I will definitely get some rest... Prayer is number one for me and a positive attitude is next... everything will fall into place just be patient and believe... Change is ok in life and I pray for all of the women in the world who has to go through this and any other body changes because we have to have strength and courage to get through... GOD bless you and your family for the amazing job you do as a WOMAN OF STRENGTH!💞

I had a hysterectomy on May 23, 2023 and the worst part of it all was the painful bloating! So much trapped gas! Apparently they fill you up with gas for the laparoscopic surgery. I stopped the narcotics by the 2nd day and only took Tylenol. I walked from the first day a little bit more each day. And did take the stool softeners and everything helped. After 3-4 days I was back to feeling normal but tried to stay in bed since the doctor said to take it easy for 2 wks. I should have done this 5 years ago when it was first recommended. No more pain!!! This surgery was so much easier than the 2 C-sections I had with my kids.

Registered Nurse here who has worked in the OR. Yes, they do fill your abdomen with CO2 gas for laparoscopic surgery so that they can see your structures and work easier. They try to remove as much as they can at the end, but your body has to eliminate the rest. It’s different from anesthesia gas, which you inhale.

Hi, I’m on day 5 post surgery, same laparoscopic hysterectomy as you, your videos are so helpful , I have experienced all the same steps to recovery as you and it’s really nice to hear someone going through the same… so glad to hear you are feeling better and I will keep following you in the future. Just to others watching, I had 2 c-sections, one emergency one, and a hall bladder removal surgery, this hysterectomy is by far the hardest recovery I have gone through… take your time and don’t push yourself to recover faster the. Your body wants! Lots of love to you for taking the time to share your experience!❤

I am scheduled for a total hysterectomy in March ‘23 and Viewing your video has helped me visually see The Recovery experience as opposed to other videos that I’ve viewed (and I’m totally aware that each woman’s recovery is individually unique) but now I’m able to really get a good sense of what’s to come and I don’t believe I’ll be viewing anymore videos featuring “Hysterectomies” so Thank You. I’m glad you’re feeling wonderful and good luck with your relocation. I was born and raised in New York City and I moved to Greensboro NC and I really really loved living there and I’m actually looking forward to relocating back to Greensboro within the next 2 yrs so we have those things in common but again Thank You once again for sharing your video and I too am going to do a video a week before my surgery. I just have to research EVERYTHING bcuz this will be my 1st KZbin video. I’ve done “Reels” on my FB and IG but by far there is no comparison when you’re creating a KZbin channel and more work is definitely involved and I believe I’ll be okay… May GOD Continue to Bless You & Your Beautiful Family💕

I had a hysterectomy exactly 1 week ago, and what helped me tremendously with the pain, was that my Anesthesiologist asked me if I wanted her injecting the inside of my belly with pain killers, special pain killers used for this kind of surgery. I am so glad I said Yes! Reading comments from so many women struggling with extra pain makes me realized how blessed I am for that Anesthesiologist lady. That has helped me to feel pretty much almost back to normal the very first days post-op, which has helped my mood for sure, I haven't felt depressed for the pain and discomfort, and it has reduced tremendously my need to take strong pain killers, which also has helped me going potty #2. So if you are going to have this surgery, talk to your Anesthesiologist about injecting your tummy with the pain numbing meds because recovery will be so much more nicer, bearable and you won't experience post-surgery depression which usually happens with slow and painful recovery. I was walking by myself on day 1.

just keep a soft diet the first 3 days and pop a laxative because doctors say that we all have to go #2 within three days post-op, otherwise we have to go to the ER so they will "open up our pipes" for us to poop. I was so afraid of having stiches popping with the pushing motion, that taking a laxative surely helped me a lot. I know that our reproductive system is not connected to the digestive one, specially our intestines, but I am telling you: when it comes to surgery "down there", "next door to the exit door", it feels darn close and you are afraid of going potty and pushing hard after surgery. I also talked to my body and explained the procedure beforehand to it, I told my body that we needed this in order to feel better, and I was incredibly grateful for how amazing, brave, strong and wise my body is, and for recovering so quick after invasive procedures. I am a Psychologist, and I know that our bodies experience extreme shock or even trauma with every single surgery we go through, to the point of losing a ton of hair, strong inflammation, depression, very painful recovery and full of fear about everything and nothing during recovery time, oh and also paranoia because our body turns on our "Survival mode", and it surely presents signs of PTSD. So talk to your body, say a prayer, thank your body for its bravery, understanding and strength. And you will be fine and your recovery will be much nicer :)@@lz6364

My night sweats lasted for about 2 months and I'm it took a toll on my daily activities. I am more tired than I was before the procedure and spend less time with my family and friends. Oddly, I no longer have the desire to drink water. I drink water but not as much as I did before. My procedure was done under emergency circumstances to save my life. I’m sixty and three months post radical laparoscopic hysterectomy because of the early stages of uterine cancer . The only excruciating pain I had was a bladder infection that pulled into my kidney. I don’t know what they gave me for pain through IV at the hospital the first 24 hours but once home only Advil an Tylenol. I think the worst part was waiting to be able to do whatever I want . Twelve weeks of restrictions! But I’m doing great now ! May everyone else have the same experience!

Yes, I have 4 children total. I said the same thing as well that I am thankful my children came into my life at the right time! I don't know why this happened to me or any female, but it's a reason for everything that happens in our lives. Stay Blessed I am only a week and 2 days post opt I believe and I pray I'll be ok. Nothing God doesn't put I'm our lives we can handle.

Thank you so much for this. I'm on day 7 and I can identify with everything you just said. I'm now dealing with getting my bowels to function as normal as I passed my stools for the first time on day 5. I started on Miralax yesterday and today I went much easier with less pain. But the pain is real though with God it get easier. I wondered about my vagina being functional 😅. So that's good news.

I’m glad I came across your video ❤I’m 4 days post op. I’ve had minimal pain. The first day of surgery I was doing bad. I was so nauseous because of the pain medicine they had in my pain pump. Once they removed that and that Foley I was able to rest. I’m like you I don’t like narcotics either and pretty much stay away from them. It’s definitely the narcotics and not being as mobile that cause the constipation. I feel so much better since I’ve had a bowel movement and now I’m just taking it easy. Thanks for the video and happy recovery ❤️‍🩹

Thank you for keeping it so real! I have adenomyosis and hysterectomy is the only cure. I recently started on progesterone and that has helped so much, I was suffering way too badly before it. I have had something like 16 surgeries- 9 for kidney stones & cysts and I have some PTSD from a few of the bad experiences. Also, I was a teen when my mom had hers and her recovery was very long a difficult as she had a bad post-op infection and I had to take care of my little sister and our house for months, so I worry about putting that on my kids. Thank god for our church dropping off dinner meals every evening! I already have so much rectal pain, probably from all of the medications after all of those surgeries, so that makes me nervous too! I think I am starting menopause finally and with the help of the progesterone, I might be able to make it through without surgery, but we'll see!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am scheduled to have a Total Hysterectomy ìn less than two weeks. Your videos, and comments from you and other P/O ladies are helping mentally prepare. Most of all, I appreciate your acknowledgement of God being the one that has gotten you through. I am depending and trusting Him to do the same for me. May God continue to bless you and your family.

There's a trend of unethical practises docs increasing unnecessary surgeries in SA. appreciate all your shares ladies. You schooled me to get 2-3 doctor's opinions. 1st doc said I must get a hysterectomy coz my fibroid is growing. 2nd&3rd said there's alternative treatment. Im now on oral contraceptives 2weeks too soon to note any tangible changes. I'm in South Africa and grateful that fibroid wasn't severe to justify surgery.

Thank you for updating us on your surgery. I'm having bladder surgery next month and I notice you mention being constipated. My Doctor already prescribed me that laxative, I'm supposed to take it once a day one week before surgery and twice a day after surgery. I'm coming home with a catheter. I forgot to mention, my regular GYN is going to start first with doing an Endometrial Ablation, after she does that my URO GYN is doing the bladder slang. I'm nervous about the whole thing, but also about getting constipated. Thanks again for the update 🙏❤️

Thankz for sharing. It’s a good thing that you were able to at least have three children before your surgery even though you wanted more. I had mine back in June of 2022 and was not able to have any biological children of my own before surgery but I am more than grateful to God for the relief that I kmow enjoy. No more heavy bleeding, anemia, passing large clots and not to mention the excrusating pain I had to endure due to large fibroids. I also experience fatigue sometimes, have gained weight and my tummy feels a little big post-surgery but everyone’s experience is different. For me, your quality of life is the biggest determining factor. Women are indeed strong!!! Take care lovely!

I’m 31-years-old and preparing to get a hysterectomy. I’m very emotional about it, but two weeks out of every month, I am suffering from severe pain, PMDD, and extreme fatigue. I’m too young to be down and in pain so much. 😞 I’m very scared, but this video did help me to calm down. I’ve had a laparoscopy already for my endometriosis, and I remember that recovery was ROUGH. I think this might be even more painful, but it’ll be worth it to stop suffering half of my life…

I should say, I also have two young children to care for. A lot of preparation is going to need to be done…I’m tired of them having to tell people that their mommy is sick every month.
