Quite entertaining and totally relatable which is why we love to watch you because you are so real and imperfect! Mexican families always get "drop ins " and unexpected visitors which is why we cook huge batches of tamales and huge pots of soups w tortillas because there are always extra mouths to feed!

I use a recipe for Christmas pudding that you bake in the oven. My brother in law thought it was going to be awful, he loved it. I made a few each year for friends and family, it went down a treat. 2 hours in the oven compared to hours of steaming, no contest. You don’t put suet in the mix, it’s in a book called ‘the 12 chefs of Christmas’ which I have had for about 25 years. I used to make Delia’s mincemeat but not made it for years. I think I will make some at the weekend. Nice to know I’m not the only one who has a scatterbrain moment. You have made me giggle. lol x

I’ve got into the habit of scrunching parchment paper under the tap, wringing it out, and then lining the tin with it. It makes it much easier to wrangle and it sticks to the side of the tin nice and obediently. 👍🏻

Thank you! I’ve always known about the scrunching, but the wetting was new to me. Tried it out today and it works wonderfully. Thanks again from an old and experienced baker. It’s never too late to learn new things.

@@theresechenoweth2321Yes - I have been a scruncher for ages but the added wetting is a relatively new process improvement and there’s no going back now :) My other tip is, if you know anyone with a Booker (wholesalers) card, then their large orange boxes of parchment paper are brilliant and sooo much cheaper than supermarket rolls.

I will look for Delias recipe ,i couldnt find currants in the supermarket or Walmart here in Florida ,i will make my cake and mincemeat after thanksgiving on thursday .I use different recipes each year and forget which one i used before.I usually get mt kitchen island messde up like that when Im baking.My husvand says im like an Italian chef ,i use every spoon and bowl etc haha.
