My budget was around 2.2 million on road. I test drove extensively Tata Safari, Alcazar Diesel little bit of XUV 7OO. All diesel automatics by the way. I loved the Safari engine the most but it lacked features and mileage was less. XUV 7OO was great but again driving in city is very tiring. I booked the Alcazar because mileage is mindblowing and features are jam packed. Since Alcazar is almost 450 kgs lesser than Safari and XUV 7OO hence the power to weight ratio is quite fine. None of the 3 cars are racing cars and most comfortable I felt is Alcazar.

Slalom test can be more aggressive with bit more with distant placed cones! Definitely that diesel is so underpowered! Feature Gimmicks will work out with that underpowered powertrain! Petrol will be a thirsty one but it’s the one better

Speed/acceleration is not the top priority of a buyer in this segment. Hyundai itself has much much more powerful engines that it sells in US. They know pricing the car well is the most important thing in Indian market which tata safari/mahindra xuv lose out on.

Alcazar has worst 3rd row seating space considering the high price tag....Ertiga has same 3rd row space......At 20 lakhs Alcazar is not worth 7 seater....it's just feature loaded comfortable 5 seater.....If u have 20 lakhs, Innova any day.....No doubt........Innova has the Best in class engine and space.....Alcazar is also underpowered as compared to Safari...... Thinking maturely features does not matter as much space matters in India.....exceptions will always be there....

Xuv500 is always a better choice in the segment, engine is really powerful, and it has got 2 facelifts so mahindra has resolved niggles and issues, on the other hand safari is new in the market, and tata ki service toh malum hi hai.. And rahi bat innova ki toh no doubt reliable hai but at the end taxi wali feeling aati hai.
