Hyundai Azera Fuel Pump Replacement

2007 Hyundai Azera 3.8 liter fuel pump replacement instructions. In this video the fuel pump was going out and loosing power. I show how to replace just the fuel pump rather than the entire assembly. The fuel pump was about 200 dollars compared to the entire assembly costing nearly 700 dollars. If you want to purchase the fuel pump be sure to check with Hyundai to see if you can get the rubber grommet where the fuel pump attaches to the housing.

I have a 06 Hyundai azera and I’ve had very similar problems.it started off with a gas issue trying to fill up at the pump it just comes back up after a few seconds so i have to fill up very slowly. I originally thought it was my fuel filler neck which could also be clogged but then I eventually started getting some missfiring in a couple cylinders so I replaced all my spark plugs and ignition coils and after ab a day it lined out and I didn’t see any misfiring anymore.(but still have the filling up problem) and then about a month later my car started to almost completely loose power randomly but my power system is great and upgraded new big amp alternator big power wires cause I do car audio stuff so I knew it wasn’t my power. It would almost stall and sometimes would stall if I drove it long enough. Also code reading never gave me a fuel issue code. But I knew it wasn’t power or spark plugs or ignition coils or anything like that. eventually it kinda just stopped doing it as much and then completely stopped for a good couple weeks. But now it never randomly stalls, instead whenever I accelerate too hard it like looses all acceleration so I have to let off and then accelerate slowly and I can get away with driving it. I plugged it up and the other day and got a P0463 fuel level sensor A circuit high input code and a P2067 level sensor B circuit low. so now I’m assuming I have a fuel pressure sensor out but I’m not really sure now that you talk ab this fuel pump issue this way. Such a struggle and don’t want to buy everything without knowing exact problem to save me some money cause like you said it’s not cheap and neither are those sensors but I’m not sure how to diagnose the specific fuel issue.

I would check fuel pressure to see what the pressure is reading while priming, while running, and see if the pressure is dropping rapidly after turning the key back off.

I tried to find the exact pump on Amazon at a cheaper price but I was not able to do so. These pumps are crazy expensive for the entire assembly.

Also..not to many of these cars on the road..atleast where I live in ohio..great car..mine has 220,000 miles on it

That's good. I do not see many of them around here either. This is only the second one I have worked on. The other one I did a transmission replacement on and it had over 200k on it as well

Is there any symptoms of bad fuel pump?

Sometimes it may start to run rough, seem like it has lost some power, or while driving it can feel like it is misfiring. But the best way to test it is to put a pressure gauge on the car and check fuel pressure coming from the pump. A lot of times it will just go out and the car will not start.

@@operationoverhaul I’m having trouble when I start the engine every morning (cold start). 2006 Azera limited. It happens every morning. But after that, it works normally. Today, there was sudden engine warning light shows up + low fuel level(I had half of gas). So I scanned the code and it says problem of fuel level sensor. I asked local Tire plus, they asked me to diagnosis and fix it would be 800$.

@@sanghyeonhan4458 sounds like the pump may be on its way out. Plus the low fuel could be from the sending unit. Was the 800 with the pump, labor, and diag?

@@operationoverhaul yes. She said if I decide to repair with them, diag will be free. She said there would be 2 fuel sensor. One is located on exterior and one would be in fuel tank. I don’t know she is correct, but she said fuel pump would be problem or sensor would be problem. If sensor is problem, it would be cheaper. I have no idea if I change this fuel pump, it will resolve cold start problem. One funny thing was I put a full gas, engine warning light and low fuel alarm disappeared.
