The little plastic thing on the shift linkage (3:44 mark) is missing on my car. Do you know what it is called or how I can replace it? Excellent video!
@AutoDrdiy4 жыл бұрын
Well, it is either part of the whole shift select assembly or a control shoe, best bet is to go to a junk yard, and either see if they will sell that whole shifter part, or see if any has an 03 manual trans core, and take it off of it, thanks for watching

this is too much stuff for me, looks pretty easy to have parts of the suspention or frame fall down on you also, i guess were screwed here, 700 is just to much for us at the shop
@jackslater2300118 жыл бұрын
I have another question. Why did you lower the subframe? You didn't have to do that.
@hyperion80086 жыл бұрын
Yes you do - you can't slide the bell housing off unless you drop down the subframe by about 3 inches.
@tristapennock94328 жыл бұрын
Can you list the required tools for this? What you used? I'm about to try to do this myself using your video and want to make sure I have everything I'll need before I get started. Thanks!
@AutoDrdiy8 жыл бұрын
+Trista Pennock Everything should be mentioned in the videos, I really can`t recall every tool used over a year ago. I take them, and evaluate the tool requirements as they come in, for the most part. But this manufacturer predominately uses 10, 12, 14, and 17 MM bolt heads on everything. The only part of the process that needs particular attention is the throw-out bearing install, as it should be installed on the clutch fork on the transmission and not the pressure plate. Or problems will follow. Its in the video.. good luck with it

Thank you! That's pretty much what I needed!

There is a 24MM long and 30MM short sockets that I was not intending to have to buy, as I watched his video. Because I am not a mechanic myself, I think it is taking me way longer to get through the process to the clutch system... Since you did this a year ago, were you able to get it completed? There are a few things that I have done, that i am confused as to why I even needed to do it. But, whatever. I am not questioning it yet. However, I as another commentator also stated, why are you lowering the sub frame!? I skipped that step altogether, as I don't see a need to lower it. Any other pointers you could give would be helpful Trista.

I guess I should also add, were you able to get it completed successfully?

Fairly common on any manual trans vehicle with over 100k miles on it.

+Auto Dr+ Why did remove the subframe? You only have to wedge the housing in between the subframe and body.

+jackslater230011   I didn't no, but I would say that the shift cables got reversed at a glance.

No, No, No, don't take the two spindle bolts out unless you need a front end alignment. Take the three nuts off from the top and of the strut on top and take the the strut and spindle assembly out as a unit.
@AutoDrdiy7 жыл бұрын
Like it matters, there is no adjustment in the spindle, until you take a drill and drill out the holes side-ways as needed. Particularly if it was in a crash and damaged the sub-structure in an adverse manner. So, waste your time as you see fit.
@netprowlerp7 жыл бұрын
Look, I don''t want to argue with you and to some degree I understand what you are saying but for god sake, that is absolutely the point of camber adjustment. We used to replace the 14 mm bolts with 13 mm bolts to allow movement to adjust the camber. On many other models the bolts are centrists and depending on where you turn them they allow for increases in both positive and negative camber. Even if the bolts hold fairly tight, any adverse change in angle is going to throw the camber out. All I was saying is why mess with bolts that have been exposed to the weather and chances are you need to beat them out and possibly blow your alignment when three 13 mm nuts on top of the strut tower is all you need and it removes everything out of your way. And i mean EVERYTHING!!!! Remove tire, caliber, brake line hold down, rotor, lower ball joint, outer tie rod end, spindle nut and those three easy to get to and easy to remove 13 mm nuts on top of the strut tower and boom, everything is out of your way. And yes, 39 years in the business for me!!! I have 6 blown disc in my back, 3 in my neck and doc says I need a hip replacement to prove it.
@AutoDrdiy7 жыл бұрын
This video is for how I do it, and is delivered as an information only video for this exact vehicle. And I wouldn`t consider installing the smaller bolts for alignment purposes, . As a smaller non-specific bolt is not recommended for that area, and may work well, untill it doesnt, with the rust and occasional accidents. And these particular bolts are not eccentrics, and are quite solid as they pass through, on this year and make. As well, disturbing the strut mounting bolts can also interfere with alignment. So either way an alignment is recommended, and will save $ over-all. Provided that, the aligning equipt. is in good working order, and the tech is properly trained to do it.
@hyperion80086 жыл бұрын
There is no adjustment in these bolts (they are a tight fit) - no issue removing them and it makes the job a lot easier.
