In this video I have a look at a Hyundai Elantra that came in with a "idle problem." The engine light was on with several codes pertaining to the Idle Air Control Valve and also had a code for a large EVAP leak. Let's have a look see. -Enjoy!

Hey Eric, glad I took your advice on visual inspections are important. I just fixed a low voltage code on a freightliner dump truck. Pulled codes and upon mu inspection I found the connector partially undone. Well I started to laugh and I pulled the accelerator pedal off and lone behold one pin was slightly bent. So I used a small pick to straighten the pin out. Reattach the connector and Bam we now have inactive codes for low voltage. Meaning inactive is when you cycle the key to off and then on The ecm does a self test and it passed. So trucks back in service check engine light is off and truck runs great. So I will watch this video when I go on break at work. Thank you again for your video's and teaching. Mrs.Os kitchen looks awesome. And remember if I can do it, you can do it. Ttyl

@devinslurry365
@devinslurry365 4 жыл бұрын
@@spaceinvadertoo Its a fine line. I shut down, or sold more businesses than I care to mention for this very reason and I am still uncertain if I ever once made the right decision. I trust my gut on these things 100% (especially now) and I just have to live with my decisions. YMMV. Sometimes that sucks for various reasons. There are two ways of being in business and it took me a while to sort it out. But #1, You create a business as a job for yourself and since we are on a mechanic's channel, that fits with the YT community. #2. You create a business and fuck off from it and have nothing to do with it except for checking in on it some time down the road. That is a whole other level of business. Sometimes this sucks because the people running said business will come to hate you for not being very present in said business. Be careful who you leave in charge of said business because if you are sloppy in this regard you could have put your wife in charge and they could become a problem later on. (Sage Advice.) Crossing that particular Rubicon means you understand point #1 and succeeded enough in point #1. that you no longer have to care about point #1. Because if you get past point #1. you have enough money to no longer care about your business that you created. If you lose a business that you have very little involvement in, you wont care if your finances are in order. Assuming you did not put your wife or best friend in charge of said business. You wont get this outlook on YT if only rarely.
@devinslurry365
@devinslurry365 4 жыл бұрын
The very feed we are on is a perfect example of a great mechanic creating a perfected business for himself as a Job. He is a great mechanic. Everyone agrees and even his wife is great in the situation at hand and runs the back/front end of the business and I complement her for cooking and managing the 3 kids and all those things. She is probably doing more work than he is actually if my experience could be used to measure things. Its a perfected bubble in that sense. But all he has at the end of the day is a Job. I am ok with that. If a person is OK in said perfected Job Bubble, that is OK and I rather like that. I have been there and its comfy assuming everything is happy. Pro Tip: Never put a friend in charge of your business with your wife. or vice versa.
@devinslurry365

It depends on the car and the problem as to whether I a going to do a full drive cycle. In that case it was probably worth doing it at least long enough to get the EVAP monitor to run to make sure you had it. Also a lot of the cars I work on have Check Engine lights for things the customer doesn't want to fix since we don't have inspections.

R. L., Hyundai and Kia both have plants in the US. The Elantras sold in the US are usually made in the US. Anyway, it's funny you consider it good to have a plant where they sell the cars, because a lot of people think working for a foreign auto maker is a worthless job because it sends all the money back to the home country. It's not a 'real' job. I disagree.

Why the hostility? Calling that poor little car a pig. They can hear you, you know. (Great video! 👍)
