G'day mate, thanks for the tips on RPW. We aren't planning on spending too much more on the Getz at this stage. Apparently the only headers that fit are hand made ones.

Just bought a 1.4 16 valve twin cam Getz for my son to do Kahanacross and perhaps progress to gravel rally, with the option to do track if he's decides to go that way. We'll start doing the strip out, tow points, battery kill switch etc over the Christmas brake.. he doesn't need a roll bar at this stage, and they have to run on road tyres, with standard suspension in the junior class. Was considering extractors and flow through system but I'll have to have a closer look at the regs.

Did u lose any low end torque with the bullet resonator? Exhaust tone has a lot of bass frequencies, did u have any cabin drone? Also the rear muffler will look much better if u cut the bumper a bit and install it a bit higher. Other than that great stuff, can't get enough about getz tuning!

Thanks mate. No noticeable loss of power or torque and if anything it has gained power. It is a bit droney on highway after an hour but at least you can hear it now. We decided not to cut bumper and the angle is actually quite tight as it has to clear rear sub frame-components.

I've inherited a getz from my mrs as a daily while I'm on R&R and I've been looking at some options regarding power, do you have any idea where to start looking regarding engines that'll fit/upgrade paths, etc? Very little seems to be out there (probably for good reason) but I really want to make a fast getz if for nothing else but a massive laugh.

Gday, getting extra power out of the Getz seems to be the holy grail! Some recommend turbo charging but I am respecting the poor little na engine for what it is - cheap fun. We have done a full service (new plugs, oil and filters) and that made a big difference. Free flowing exhaust seems to be a good mod but ecu mapping, heads, cams etc are probably not worth it for minimal gains. Other route for acceleration gains is weight reduction and we have pulled out close to 50kgs with rear seats removed, spare wheel, replaced front seat.

@@ClunieGarage yeah I'm much in the same boat, cost of turbocharging it for minimal gains seems pretty pointless, especially in a 1.4. Great little car to learn in though, look forward to seeing the progress!

@@trentrofl mate has 150kw@w out of the stock engine 1.4 with a CT26 turbo from a sourer. Bog stock motor with nothing more than a tiny cooler, 2.5” exhaust and unichip piggy back. For a 1.4 they go alright.

There are a couple of guys who've put the 2L Hyundai engine in them but does require a little notching of the frame, I believe, for better clearance so probably wouldn't be engineer certified for the street, but they do fit, and on the sly, nobody would know because it looks stock as a rock. Hyundai does sell a turbo crate engine now with 274HP, which would be right on the money I reckon, especially for a track day car. Similarly, guys put the bigger FWD engines in Echos and Yaris.

Where would i be able to get a full exhaust pipe from for my Getz? I can buy the cannon from supercheap.

G'day, we just went to our local exhaust shop and they fabbed up the 2 inch pipe with a hotdog resonator and welded on a flange to fit the same supercheap auto cannon that you are most likely looking at. All up shouldn't cost more than $250 of pipe work not including the cannon.
