My 2022 Ioniq 5 has been amazing , no issues. Long Range rwd, my con is the factory stereo which i upgraded w new speakers and 2 amps plus an active sub. No issues doing so, never had a 12v issue. Range and charging speed is great. Ride is quiet and it has lots off room. It is a really great vehicle:)

Con number five: 39,000 Miles and 19 months under my belt and the best car I’ve ever owned. EXCEPT: I brought the car in two weeks ago Monday for two software updates, and making sure my charge port doesn’t overheat and a fuse of some sort………. I never had any problems …… My 12 V battery has a Phantom constant 100 W drain, it has been dead as a doornail for almost 2 weeks, and they most recently told me maybe the Hyundai USA tech support team will figure it out at some point, but my car is outside the dealership just sitting there waiting for a fix or something. Big kudos for Hyundai and a silver lining: they gave me a brand new car as a loaner and it has all wheel drive, which mine never had. So basically I’m whole again, sort of.

@@kakashi3543 good to know. in 1988, one of my high school buddies bought a Hyundai Excel. It was HORRIBLE. Then, understanding they were better, I bought a 2002 Kia Sedona minivan. It lasted three years before I dumped it at 50,000 miles. In 2006, my mom bought a Kia Sportage. The car is more or less running but has many issues. Meanwhile, my 1999 Lexus runs like a champ at 200,000 miles and the interior is in great shape. I just don't trust Kia/Hyundai. After 18,000 miles, I'm very happy with my Ford Mach-e.

For someone from Latinamerica, Hyundai is among the most respectable brands for consumer vehicles, they offer really good manufacturer warranty in case anything fails, and a bit more comfort and premium feeling than Kia for a still reasonable price, personally I trust them and I’m getting the Ioniq 5 once I sell my 2017 Ioniq hybrid

Not sure why it's not a trusted brand in the US, in the UK and Europe it's one of the most reliable brands you can get, up there with Toyota and Honda. They offer a longer warranty than almost anyone else and hardly ever have issues over here.

The other major fatal flaw con in my opinion is their hesitation to adopt NACS. I get that their 800v architecture isn't ideal for using Tesla chargers but being able to use Tesla superchargers when in a pinch or more likely when the EA station is broken is still a massive benefit. I would not buy a car that isn't planning to switch to NACS if I ever planned to road trip it. Love the IONIQ in every other way but it's time to move on from CCS1.

@@Yubuzka3774 Sure, there are a few of those but I wonder how much incentive there is for them going forward now that around 80% of the manufacturers will be NACS by 2025. I'm sure it costs something so the investment and added maintenance of magic doc is questionable in my mind now. It made sense 6 months ago prior to the big switch announcements but not so much now. I suspect they may do some amount more but I doubt it makes sense financially now to build a ton more magic docs when most are switching to NACS. I also know Hyundai is planning to build out there own network which is helpful regardless but with Tesla's decade head start and current momentum, NACS is a no brainer IMO. I think they are just hesitant because of the 800v charge rate is slower. It's still ok in my opinion so why not join in. NACS is now the planned dominate port going forward. Cars that hold onto CCS1 will be much like a leaf is today using Chademo. I'm sure there will be charging options for a long time but..why hang onto the past.

Currently approaching the conclusion of my lemon law suit which has been ongoing since Nov. 2022 if you can believe it. Replaced this lemon with a new Tesla Model Y and am very happy with it. I expected your "Pros and Cons" to offer more informative content, rather than sounding like an infomercial. We have been on a waiting list for almost 5 months in Canada and I have been reading many concerning articles and issues coming from owners of the vehicle. These evolve around the batteries in the vehicle. Alarmingly, more people are reporting that if the main battery is damaged and needs to be replaced the cost is about $60k CDN. (About the same price as the entire vehicle) Even if your insurance company covers the replacement cost it could be months before a battery replacement is received. So essentially you have paid for a new EV which sits at the dealership until the new battery comes in. Hmmm….I hope you have a second vehicle or a dealership loaner for the duration. The second issue is the 12v accessory battery drain (typical acid and lead type which is cheaper than a lithium-ion battery). If this type of battery goes flat on you it may sustain cell damage which requires a new replacement. Hyundai has previously taken the stand that it is an owner issue and somehow related to Bluetooth 3rd party apps working in the background??? There was an article in the CBC News Network which approached Hyundai Canada for comment on the above and I found their response was like trying to stand on a beach ball in the middle of the Atlantic. I could go on and on but it appears the EV’s are still at the "bleeding edge” of technology and the purchasers are “pay as you play” funding for their innovations.
