The IONIQ 5N is the only electric vehicle that can run on the track without stopping. Tesla, Porsche, Audi, and BMW will rather analyze the IONIQ 5N. And what's even more surprising is that Hyundai hasn't even brought out a real weapon yet. The eM platform, the successor to the E-GMP platform, is scheduled to appear. There will be many more great techniques, so you can look forward to it.

@@namesdemeanusboth Stop being such a tribalist. You lost the moment you made this about Hyundai and not Ioniq 5N. You bring no substance to the discussions since you don't care about facts or logic. @Bro-food

@@namesdemeanusboth The Taycan and Model S Plaid must be equipped with extremely expensive carbon ceramic brakes to run on the track, and there are also problems with battery overheating. However, the Ioniq 5N can be stopped with just cast iron brakes, and the battery heat dissipation ability is excellent. In addition, the IONIQ 5N's regenerative braking is limited to 0.6G, and the specification is possible up to 0.8G. There is great industrial value in being able to build much better electric vehicles without the use of expensive brakes.

I'm really curious to see US pricing and what kind of lease deals can be had once supply builds up. Need a family car soon to replace my 911 and very intrigued by this.
@jshnya
@jshnya 10 ай бұрын
There won't be a supply build up, ever. Every N model has been super hard to get allocations for in the US and this won't be any different. The better question is will it depreciate like the EV6 GT. 1 year old models with a few thousand miles can he had for low $40k. The EV6 isn't as thorough of a sports car as this though, so we'll see what happens.
@iRapplexD
@iRapplexD 10 ай бұрын
Lease will be the best way to go for EV especially high end ones. Think it will start at barely sub $70k, not including the mark ups it is going to get. And depreciation should be >40-50% for 3 years ownership. I'm leasing it.
@jshnya
@jshnya 10 ай бұрын
@iRapplexD I'm a finance manager at a Hyundai/Genesis dealership. Leasing any N model is awful. The money factor and lack of rebates on N cars make leasing them a bad choice. If we're talking normal Ioniq5/Ioniq6, yes lease it.
@The_Stanman
@The_Stanman 10 ай бұрын
@@jshnya EV oversupply is a huge industry-wide problem right now impacting all models. OEMs and dealers are literally losing tens of thousands of $ on every one they sell, and it's only getting worse as production continues to ramp at ~50% per year. N cars are readily available, at least in the US atleast. This will have a terrible depreciation curve like every current EV currently due to many reasons, but a big part is how rapidly they continue to improve, making older ones obsolete.
@The_Stanman
@The_Stanman 10 ай бұрын
@@iRapplexD 100%, should definitely only lease any EV right now due to the market dynamics and tax credit. And we are just at the beginning of years of EV oversupply and wild depreciation - the production ramp through 2027 is insane. In 2027+, there are going to be INSANE deals on 2020 - 2025 model year EVs. I'm thinking Lucid Sapphire then 😁

Almost, and that's a very good point! We hear so much about weight of EVs yet nobody mentions the weight of ICE cars. Nobody says "I don't think I'll buy that new SUV, it's heavy". Most of the heaviest cars on the road are ICE SUVs. The main reason it is mentioned by the average uninformed person (not Chris Harris) is simply to trot out some anti EV FUD. Chris mentions it appropriately but then reveals that it actually turns out to be a fantastic car on track, even when driven in a manner that 99.9% of people will never do!

I thought Top Gear had been cancelled…….. Where are those gorgeous little films that Chris and Neil used to make? At some point in my life I realised that Radio 1 wasn’t for me anymore, the station hadn’t changed but I had. Please don’t think of this as negativity towards you Mr Harris, I just loved and miss those films that felt like it was just you driving a car and talking to me about it. They felt special and just for us, I hate to say this but the format feels more like Rory Reid than Chris Harris. Keep it simple guys, there was never anything wrong with the original recipe. 🙏🏼

3:25 It looks every bit like a fast car to me with it's styling so I'm not sure what you're talking about. A sleeper EV is more like the EV6 GT imo where it's not crazy over styled like the 5N yet it has 576HP. Yeah it's going to be slower than this car but it's fast enough for most people out there. The 5N is made for the tracks period vs the GT is more of street car with some track fun in it. As much as I think the 5N looks nice I would rather get the GT myself as it's more of a daily to me. It has more things I like about it over the 5N so that's why I recently got it myself. It's an awesome car and it doesn't stand out to me as racer car which I like more at my age. I do love that baby blue color though, who knows I might wrap my GT in that color in the future. 😊

A couple of reasons: The seats, the brakes and the step shifting and noises. The dynamics of the GT aren't up to the task at the track. It drifts and does burnouts well and well....not much else. The basic shape, imo, is more conservative that the Kia. Congrats on the purchase and hope it treat you well!
@volcalstone

@@cbotten106 thanks. I do think the GT could be a better track car tho if you just did some mods like lowering it and putting on some proper tires and wheels. Would I track my car? No. The GT just won't do laps after laps so well vs the 5 N which could cool down the battery and motors a lot better. Depending on how hard you want to push it. As for the 5 N. The shifting thing is cool and all but I'm sure not everyone will care for it or the fake sounds. I can't stand the fake pump in sounds from ICE car so I won't with EVs. This is why you get an EV for that quietness. The natural motor sound is good enough for me. I could finally hear my music the way I wanted it with no background noises. 😊 Not sure if you heard but the 5 N was marked up $20K at a dealership in California. So close to $90K vs my GT that I got for only $50K. I'm sure the price will go down eventually in a year or so but it's just ridiculous with these prices.
@cbotten106
@cbotten106 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reply, as someone mentioned somewhere in comments Hyundai historically has kept the supply of N cars very low, so that price drop may take a while. A GT for $50K seems pert near a bargain in the current market. 👍 @@volcalstone

Much prefer a used C63 V8 to this; sound is sound and without it the most important part of the car's soul is lost. The fact that it is slower doesn't matter. In everyday Monday to Friday driving, it what makes a mundane drive into something better. I own a GL 63 AMG and prior to that had all sort of 4 cylinders and 6 cylinder vehicles; the GL 63 is the biggest, the heaviest, one of the hardest and most awkward to handle but no vehicle I have ever owned have given me a smile like this one during the work or family commute. An E39 523i I6 is almost there but not quite. Maybe the only one that could compare was the BMW M3 V8 with its screaming red line that I drove on a track driving course.
