Good to see someone taking the time and effort make EVs interesting. Pretty pointless, but well done. I like their little i20n

I just received my Ioniq 5N last week. Who would be interested in seeing a comparison between the 5N and an i30N??

Chris is a fantastic no-nonsense presenter and having just finished his audiobook, a really interesting bloke who would be great to chat to over a beer about all things cars for sure 👍
But i am still not sold BECAUSE it controlling a piston engine that is fun and modulating an electric motor isn't. Without the authentic sound it's all nonsense.

I wonder if the reason this package gets such enthusiasm from the likes of Chris filters down from the Hyundai EV rally program? I was considering a standard Ioniq 5, but after less than good treatment from our local Hyundai dealer, I ended up with a Kia. Very pleased with it.

Would have really appreciated what YOUR THOUGHTS were on this car's Simulated gearshift + Fake combustion engines (dynamic) sounds in combination to the driving 😁Heard that was a real novelty that NO other sports car had to offer (at this point) in enhancing the driver's involvement in "a shake down" style drive. BUT, other then that I really enjoy your "Ridiculously fun test runs !!👌👍👍

This impressive car has the added benefit of tackling the loneliness epidemic, as each buyer makes a new friend with their local tyre fitter.

Been waiting for you to review this Chris to get a proper driver’s view. Really want one of these (and as a petrolhead - also have the 1M coupe which I believe Chris you also have?). What did you make of the simulated gear change?

3:25 It looks every bit like a fast car to me with it's styling so I'm not sure what you're talking about. A sleeper EV is more like the EV6 GT imo where it's not crazy over styled like the 5N yet it has 576HP. Yeah it's going to be slower than this car but it's fast enough for most people out there. The 5N is made for the tracks period vs the GT is more of street car with some track fun in it. As much as I think the 5N looks nice I would rather get the GT myself as it's more of a daily to me. It has more things I like about it over the 5N so that's why I recently got it myself. It's an awesome car and it doesn't stand out to me as racer car which I like more at my age. I do love that baby blue color though, who knows I might wrap my GT in that color in the future. 😊

A couple of reasons: The seats, the brakes and the step shifting and noises. The dynamics of the GT aren't up to the task at the track. It drifts and does burnouts well and well....not much else. The basic shape, imo, is more conservative that the Kia. Congrats on the purchase and hope it treat you well!

@@cbotten106 thanks. I do think the GT could be a better track car tho if you just did some mods like lowering it and putting on some proper tires and wheels. Would I track my car? No. The GT just won't do laps after laps so well vs the 5 N which could cool down the battery and motors a lot better. Depending on how hard you want to push it. As for the 5 N. The shifting thing is cool and all but I'm sure not everyone will care for it or the fake sounds. I can't stand the fake pump in sounds from ICE car so I won't with EVs. This is why you get an EV for that quietness. The natural motor sound is good enough for me. I could finally hear my music the way I wanted it with no background noises. 😊 Not sure if you heard but the 5 N was marked up $20K at a dealership in California. So close to $90K vs my GT that I got for only $50K. I'm sure the price will go down eventually in a year or so but it's just ridiculous with these prices.
@cbotten1068 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reply, as someone mentioned somewhere in comments Hyundai historically has kept the supply of N cars very low, so that price drop may take a while. A GT for $50K seems pert near a bargain in the current market. 👍 @@volcalstone

I Put an order in for 1 of these over a year ago, but as a current RS etron gt owner (my first ev), I have since been cautious of the blood battery aspect of these cars. Not much has been done in the EV auto industry to assuage potential buyers' concerns of this problem as they seem to be ignoring it rather than addressing it head on, unfortunately.

Misha has shown that it can drive 2 Laps on the nord, with maybe 10min of charging. You can do much more laps as a beginner as well.

I'd really like to see your take on the Hiphi Z. I've been driving one on winter roads, and it's another expensive EV with a sense of humour. And although I'm not huge on EV's, I'm rather impressed with the way it drives! Sort of reminds me of a scaled up, modern gt3000. It's also got more entertaining features than Mario-Party, so it pleases the geek in me!

I'm surprised he didn't talk about its ability to shift itself and a different noises that it can make and all the different end modes. I feel like there's so much more to this car that wasn't covered

Much prefer a used C63 V8 to this; sound is sound and without it the most important part of the car's soul is lost. The fact that it is slower doesn't matter. In everyday Monday to Friday driving, it what makes a mundane drive into something better. I own a GL 63 AMG and prior to that had all sort of 4 cylinders and 6 cylinder vehicles; the GL 63 is the biggest, the heaviest, one of the hardest and most awkward to handle but no vehicle I have ever owned have given me a smile like this one during the work or family commute. An E39 523i I6 is almost there but not quite. Maybe the only one that could compare was the BMW M3 V8 with its screaming red line that I drove on a track driving course.
