So it looks like Kia/Hyundai managed to make a good start by basing the EGMP on strong fundamentals from their ICE cars. A good choice; too many manufacturers bumping up their costs and lowering value proposition to customers by trying to re-invent the wheel. If a good steel BIW can accommodate a 300+ mile range EV drivetrain AND remain one of the lightest, and safest EVs available in this market segment, it proves that they're doing it right 👍👍 No wonder, with the amount of Ioniq 5s and EV6 there are here on the roads in the UK already.

The investments in the platform and body are easily dwarfed by having your competitors making battery deals before you. Now instead of you making the drivetrain it is somebody else. That is why subcontracting automakers struggle. Volume is obviously always a factor.

Itself Counter! Love it. Had a speech teach way back when that dropped a stone in a metal bucket for every ummm. It was like a machine gun for some of my peers...definitely not me. Part 2. Had a Tour Director in the Canadian Rockies for 2 weeks. "As well" was both a comma and a period. The "as wells" were so prolific I couldn't focus on the message.

Does anyone know if the Ioniq 5 SE, SEL, and Limited use the same wiring harness? Would be curious to if you could take the cameras from the Limited and put them in a SEL or SE and the surround cameras would work. Is it a hardware limitation because the connections are not there along with the proper trim or is it a software limitation to the model?

Kia/huyndai has some major or minor problem of the e-platform because on thr facelift they have to make some changes and strenghtening on the body frame. Allso kia ev6 has really problem with the ride quality. It doesnt drive directly.

Model 3 a wild mix of materials, IONIQ 5 all steel. The problem is not the number of parts, the number of contacts of different metals.

Each part is:- an additional part with either an additional or more complex die; an additional forming process; an additional surface area of coating; an additional assembly process; an additional fixing; an additional cost of material; an additional point where something can go wrong; additional time to manufacture; and typically an additional weight; It is hard to argue with the manufacturing mantra of "the best part is no part"

weird this feels like watching a component in the ICE vehicle period/age. The Cybertruck is setting a new paradigm in car building. I think the future is more straight line structures, body lines and stainless steel. While ugly to most people at first, it will become norm pretty fast like how European or traditional buildings were done vs the modern architecture we have today which is more practical and cost sensitive.

How do I find out which of the E vehicles you are most excited about? You all plus Sandy seem very happy with most everything you look at. I drove the Mach E. Not bad. Road noise could be less. Response is good too. Ford is way high on prices and needs to stop misrepresenting range. I had a call from a salesman locally and he had a Platinum Lightning. $83,000. He said New with 2000 miles. I said that is a lot of demos or taking the truck home. I said that is a used vehicle and offered $45,000. He said No on used. I said he was wrong. He did the history check. A man bought and used it for 1 month and turned it in. The Ford sales people in the dealerships lie through their teeth. I donot even trust Tesla for concealing complaints and problems from us. My safety is on the line. You lie and I die is not good for me. Transparency is King. Thank you for discussing the Ioniq 5!

ICCU failures, shutting off in traffic, 12v dead, no-start, NO HEAT/NO AC,EPS failures, overheating while charging, shutting charging off completely or taking 11 hours. That’s why Elon called Tesla frame failure issues “normal wear and tear” 🤔. Which is insane if you think about a single cast frame that also has lots of known fender and frame rust issues already. MUNRO - at end of the day , Hyundai e-GiMP platform is an OUTDATED gas based platform , Designed for Combustion cars, Hybrids (combustion) , Fool Cells and a BEV platform. but , e-GiMP is only using the Hybrid & BEV Variants . still, the Platform is too Complex and too Heavy.

It is interesting to watch this BIW overview next to the Tesla Model S BIW overview. The progressiveness of the design can be argued, but the quality of the welds and application of the adhesive looks decidedly better on the Ioniq 5 than the Model S.
