My wife and I just bought the SLE Ioniq 5 AWD in Cyber Gray six days ago and we love it. We will be installing a “ChargePoint+ L2 at home and it can be used with “Alexa” for voice commands in a smart home. We will miss the extra bells and whistles of the Limited however this EV has plenty of real world technology for an everyday driver. This is our first electric vehicle and we’re very excited for the future. And yes the rear view mirror allows you to sync with a garage door opener as well.

Hyundai Factory in South Korea has confirmed the delivery of my Ioniq 5 (MY2023) in early January 2023. You have input me with lots of information. However I need to know more and what else do I need to know for safe and happy driving of my Ioniq 5 ? Please supply more KZbin videos on your channel. The Hyundai dealers are not that Tech savvy. Please confirm, if I fit a security device such as a 'Ghost 2' (from a UK suppler) will the 5 year Warranty will void ? Thank you in advance ......

I'll have to see how the trims end up when they are finally announced, but it has the capability of both, I believe. Once the trims and pricing are announced, I'll be better equipped to answer that.

I have read that in the United States the Ioniq 5 gets free charging for 2 years on the Electrify America network. Does this apply to cars purchased in Canada?

Is there no way to keep lane safety assist off?... As when you turn the car off and on it resets itself so you have to turn it off manually each time... The warning sound is a pain with customers in the car too ... Also if anyone is not used to it, it's unnerving when the steering adjusts itself. It feels like it's slowly trying to take over control and I'm quite capable of controlling the vehicle myself thank you... I'll ask if I need it and not before. Been alright the last 30 years. Love the drive for sure but stop trying to take over car unless asked. Thank you.

If you stream your music over bluetooth, you won't need a wire, but if you use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you will.

I still like to use my old school iPad Nano. I'm sure there's no auxiliary headphone jack input but will the iPad nano work with a factory Apple cable plugged into any of the USB ports?

If you get the trim with vehicle-to-load, what type of wall outlet(s) are supported? Is it a NEMA 5-20? Or something more exotic like a 6-20? A 5-20 wall outlet (like you typically see in modern kitchens or bathrooms) would be compatible with the most devices, but a 6-20 would let you use approximately the maximum kW that the car can output (presumably with an adaptor for devices that use a regular wall outlet).

When you are stopping with the ipedal do the brake lights come on. Do the brake lights come on when the different levels of regen are being used to slow down?

Great question. YES. If the car is "braking" or decelerating at an equivalent level to a gasoline car that would be braking (not just losing speed through a traditional deceleration) then the brake lights will activate. No worries there!

Can you have rear view camera on while driving? Also does it have garage door opening button?

Some people from other countries have told me that you CAN use the rearview camera while driving. Usually in North America, you can't use that camera at high speeds, but I'll have to check. My preliminary specs list the garage door opener as only on the top trim. I'd have to dig in to see if they've brought it to other trims.

There will be days where I wish it was there, but for the most part, it's a minor thing that will make little difference to me. Tesla's don't have rear wipers either.

We've already seen some Tesla owners trading in their vehicles for the Ioniq 5, so there's no question that these are up to the standard set by Tesla. Each company has their own strengths, but I am really happy with what I'm seeing from Kia and Hyundai in this latest platform.

I'm getting an Ioniq 5 Limited in 4 weeks and am not sure what charging device I need to set up for maximum charging at home. The salesman tells me, "The 10.9-kw onboard charger will handle a full charge in as little as 6 hours, 43 minutes, according to Hyundai. That would require a 240-volt, 60-amp circuit at the home and a 48-amp Level 2 wallbox." I believe that means I need a charger that is hard-wired to my home electric grid, vs. plugged in at the charging site. Correct? And would you please discuss the brands of chargers that will deliver at 48-amp level? I've seen only one - the JuiceBox 48. Are there others? Thanks.

If you're going to get that speed of charge, you do need a level 2 charger. There are MANY models of chargers for cars. We have some Bosch units here, but there are a lot of them. I haven't spent a lot of time researching brands, but there are definitely many options.

@@BrantfordKia My primary question was asking you to confirm that the best charger for 48-amp level 2 charge is a box that is hard-wired to the home circuit, vs just plugged in at the charging site with a separate cable. Do you have advice on that question? I understand about many brands, so it's OK that you haven't evaluated them all. Thanks for your help - it's super!

Kia missed the mark not offering the base under 45,000 no rebates will hurt sales compared to Ioniq 5.

Kia hasn't released the pricing for the EV6 yet. It's my hope that they'll at least have the initial vehicle at a similar price so that the line-up qualifies for the government rebate. I don't know yet though.
