Well explained and filmed video!aA few points ; 1.Tie up with string,cable tie ,bungee cord ,the caliper when off. 2.Could use brake clean fluid. 3.Grease back of pads with copper paste 4.Check slider pins move freely (silicone grease again if not). 5.I silicone spray rubber covers to preserve rubber 6.PUMP brakes a few times before driving on road. Hope these points help someone!

I had no idea BEFORE watching this video. A view of this and all became clear. Brilliant instruction video. The tricky bit was pushing the piston back, but again, easy when you are shown how. Thank you so much, really good job!

Great video. I usually use break cleaner while it's apart, and use an old pad and a g clamp to push the piston in. Just make sure your brake fluid cap is off and carefully remove some fluid if you have to. It will rise as the piston pushes in. Nicely explained and clear video.

remember to loosen your brake fluid cap and put a rag around it, as your pushing the piston back in on the brake caliper any previous top-up fluid may overspill.if you dont loosen the cap the piston will be really hard to return.

Great instruction. Next video you do on brakes you should mention greasing the slides on the caliper to minimise uneven pad wear.

I always got a garage to do my brakes but decided to do them myself this time, i did know to take the cap off the break fluid bottle before pushing the piston back though i should have drained some off as it overflowed, anyway everything done and working great, Kwik fit quoted £136 for the same job, the pads cost me £24 and it took me 70 mins to do the job, obviously Kwik fit would have been a lot quicker as they have the tools and are used to doing brakes so i don't know what the extra £112 was for, surely labour cant be that much for a job that would take them less than an hour.

Do we have to undo the brake fluid cap so the pressure can go back up the line?
@chiganuggoo99293 ай бұрын
That is best practice as it alleviates the pressure in the reservoir as the piston is being pushed back and forcing the fluid back - it also makes the job of pushing the piston back a lot easier. Just remember to wrap an old cloth around the loosened reservoir cap to catch any possible overspill.

I've been a mechanic for 34 years....nothing botch about that. A few extra things I would have done, but all the critical and safety elements were covered here. Perfect for a straight pad change. Even for someone like you.
