Top review! A informative, interesting ACTUAL review. So rare to find in Aus.

From my perspective as the owner of a 2019 Kona Elite, most of them in NZ seem to be driven by mature women. Hyundai probably aimed it differently but I think that's their market. I think women like it because it's easy to get into, you sit up high for good visibility, parking is a snap and it's easy to drive and comfortable enough. A practical mobile shopping basket. My wife is happy with hers as the replacement for her Mercedes 180K coupe which was becoming quite unreliable.

Andrew is one of the best Australian car reviewers by far - another great review. Plus he can also pronounce Hyundai correctly!

Thanks for your review. I had an i30 before and changed to a Kona, I am disappointed because I wasn't told, that the basic Kona didn't have rear sensors. When I asked, I was told it was exactly the same as the i30, so, I payed extra for the front sensors and a couple of more things. It would have been appropriate to tell me then. My second dissapointment is that it comes with only one reverse light. Which I find is very dangerous. Not sure how Australian gov accepts that.

Still the Seltos for me. The full size spare is huge tbh.

Would love to see a practical comparison between the "Old Kona 2.0 Automatic" vs. "New Kona 2.0 CVT". Thanks

Please stop putting on the N-lines on exhibit, we want to also know about the base models with non turbo versions.

Great review overall. The Kona is on our short list. Poor driving skills were the low point here. Driving in the rain at speed waving your hand around and splitting your concentration on driving and talking to the camera? Objectively what score would you give yourself for this?

😂😂😂 this is how any Australian would talk to someone sitting beside them.

... love the front grill design evolution : a stepback of the already looling boring hexagon pattern ... but rather prefer a sedan ...like the handsome i30 fastback ...

Bloody CVT😩 these cars always seem to be reviewed in super large city but not everyone lives in large populated city some people live in places where the population is like 120000 and a lot of us do Highway driving and country driving and this is where you're going to notice the car is paired with a crappy CVT just my opinion though
@realtvw3 жыл бұрын
CVT on the highway you are doing 65 plus with no drama, seems like tue CVT is perfect for this you are not shifting gears on the highway. CVT for country roads, seems like tue CVT is perfect no traffic no bumper to bumper CVT is smooth and quiet. It seems lile you have a mental amd emotional issue with CVT not a practical or scientific one. CVT for a crowded city like LA, stop and go traffic and large freeways, CVT feels worse of the line, because tue CVT has to go from 1 to 120 MPH my understanding is the low range is where a CVT has the most trouble historically, seems like crowded city is where you would really notice CVT.

That's not a reimagined suv. That's a hatchback. And a small one. It has tiny 16 inch wheels! Even the larger 18 inch wheels are only 18 inch. It's a compact car!

Never liked the trend of some Kia and Hyundai cars having a rear light cluster at a bumper level.

Hi Andrew. Thanks for a very comprehensive review... I always enjoy your reviews. It would be great to see you do a comparison of the Kona Elite 2.0L with the Ford Puma ST-line and Skoda Kamiq 85TSI or 110TSI (in base spec). Thanks heaps!

I booked Kona Elite 2.0L 2021, I test drove Ford Puma ST-line and Skoda Kamiq 85TSI but Kona 2021 is better.

Don't know if it's better but those weird lights, front and back make it uglier

Yes it's nice, but i would not encourage my son to trade his existing 2017 Kona, I prefer the 2 Litre with the 6 speed Torque converter trans, not convinced about CVT's yet, also it looks like you lose a genuine emergency {hand} brake and you get another thing that can go wrong, , both stop/start push button remote and the electric park brake are only manufacturers cost cutting devices. be nice if they gave you even an el cheapo full size spare.

'Reimagined'? No - surely re-designed is the correct word? No 'imagination' was involved.
