Thanks for sharing this great video! I think this will be super helpful for new Hyundai service EV techs to see how this is done RIGHT! I am waiting (like many others) for my drive battery to be replaced on my 2019 Kona EV. I assuming this is a Canadian Hyundai dealership? I do see on the left side the Kona EV heat exchanger box which was not available U.S. buyers. Now I can appreciate how this will cost Hyundai recall 200. I was told Hyundai is billed $11,000 for parts and labor for recall 200..

Hello great Video. My Kona EV 2023 had bad pothole collision. It bended the tire rods and wheel alignment. The tech says the EV battery sensor for coolant shows up as an error and may need a battery replacement as well. Do we really need to replace the big battery? There are no dents on the battery and the car is drivable with no airbags activated at the time of collision with the pothole. I suspect the Hyundai dealers are playing games with me. Any suggestions and help is appreciated with options i have.

Hi, so theres a code for temperature sensor for the battery? Maybe the sensor or the circuit got disturb during the collision. I dont know of they can just disassemble the battery and replace the temperature sensor, or maybe they dont have the special tools to reseal the battery thats why they are suggesting a new battery. I hope car insurance will cover your repair coz thats really a big money.

The “new” battery has resulted in a reduced range - feels like about 95 percent charge compared to before. Since Hyundai gave no paperwork or details about what the battery change involved, makes you wonder. Not saying that it would be easier and cheaper to just recalibrate the software (say, to make 95 percent, or whatever, the new 100 percent), but hey. Also, sitting around in Tilbury for about 6 weeks has caused the 12v battery to suddenly die (that's according to Hyundai Customer Care and an AA recovery technician), which the dealer says is not covered by warranty as it's more than 2 years old. Hyundai Customer Care suggested I could ask the dealer to submit a goodwill request for Hyundai to contribute to the cost of a new 12v battery. WTF? A 12v battery only costs around £90 to replace, but it's the principle… Hyundai and/or the dealer should cough up without me having to beg for this small sum, especially as it's been suggested Hyundai is directly responsible for the battery's demise. Shows where their priorities are, once the sale has been made. Pretty poor attitude.
@thomashenden71 Жыл бұрын
Probably they have increased the safety margins in the top and bottom percents of SOC, and if nothing else, it increases the life of the battery which is a nice tradeoff. If people are affected by a 5 percent decrease in available capacity, they ought to have bought an EV with even longer range. Other than that - Hyundai’s 12V system sucks and if they really charge customers having an issue with the 12V battery because the car has its traction battery replaced, that is immoral business practice. Most cars with the same electronics / drivetrain, Older Kias, Ioniq, even Ioniq 5 and Niro have 12V issues. Seems like the engineers originally planned to use a LiFePO4 battery that would have had much more capacity and tolerated discharges much better, however they are more expencive so management probably cut them out. Ioniq hybrids actually have the LiFePO4 battery, AFAIK, and replacing the outdated lead acid battery on the other cars shoujlf be fairly easy, though expencive, still the most cost effective solution in the long run.

@@thomashenden71 In 2018 when we ordered our Kona EV (on about a 9 month wait) it was advertised with a 315 mile range (enough to comfortably get to London and back from where we live in Bath). By the time the car was delivered that range had been modified due to new testing regulations - now 285 miles range. Annoying, but still enough to do our regular journey to London and back if we were careful. After the recall I noticed around a ten to 15 percent drop in range. Now, every journey to London requires around an additional charge of £15 on the way back. That's around £1,000 a year extra for us. The additional time spent charging (which had been unnecessary before) makes each trip a pain. It’s impossible to get a response from Hyundai, about any issues - they just ignore phone calls and emails. Saying we should have just chosen a car with longer range is not really helpful - we chose one with a 315 mile range and now, thanks to Hyundai's sharp practice, have one with a 240 mile range. That’s rubbish…
