As an owner for 2 years and 40k miles, this is the most exciting car I can imagine for the price. I’ve had it up to 130MPH (tires properly inflated) and it hugs the road better at 130 than it does at 100; which is a daily thing in sport mode. I got my first speeding ticket in this car (I blame Ohio). Anyway, it’s fun and fast but not too crazy. One missing detail, the headlights are actually specially designed for the Ironman edition (no logo like on the round headlights). They look more like Ironman eyes than the headlights on the regular Kona. Great video…I learned about the audio greeting because of the comments here. Thanks for the review.

I'm an otr truck driver. The day after this version of the Kona was announced, I was parked in a truck stop in Gary, IN next to a car hauler completely full with Iron Man Konas.

Own one. You covered it well. Fun to drive. Stands out from the crowd, has the latest driving aids and that great Hyundai warranty. Would have preferred the Fat Thor Kona, but maybe next year.

I just bought one in 2024 sitting in car lot nobody wanted it I guess . I had originally gone to look at another vehicle but I just this sitting there calling my name . It is a smooth drive . I' m in love with everything about this car , the comfort , the surprisinging interier space . My husband is 6' 8 "and his knees didn't hit . I dont' t have kids but my nephews made sure they could fit in the backseat .lol. Yeah , one already has his eyes on my car . This was not the car I expected or expected to find at a dealership in central IL lol . But I'm a huge Marvel fan and I love this car even if it wasn't Iron Man it's a great car and cannot get over no one else wanted it ..I just had to wait a few years lol.

If you turn the Welcome Sounds on in the gauge cluster, you will hear the “suit power up” effect when you get in and close the door, and then a “power down” effect turning the car off. You’re welcome, though it’s not I Am Iron Man lol

I bought it brand new and absolutely love it. My plates say "T Stark". Incredible in the snow where I live. A lot of people want a cell photo of it. Lots of aftermarket parts and trim available. Downsides; must be hand-washed due to the matte black, low end 4 wheel drive works well until you hit 20 MPH, then it shuts off, would be cool if the front red strip oscalated in L.E.D. from left to right, actual gas mileage is about 23 in the city. Overall, I'm very happy with my Ironman! only seen one other in town.

I love my Ironman. Bought it off the showroom floor last May. Have had a lot of fun with it. My other car is a 2017 Genesis G90 5.0 AWD (soon to be a 2020 Genesis G90 5.0 AWD) and I have gotten more attention and questions about the Kona. It is a lot of fun. Came out of church a couple of weeks ago and some guy is taking pictures of it. No one has ever done that with my G90 (or any other car for that matter). I'm a bit older than the target market but it's still a blast to drive.

Bought my Ironman new in May 2019. Traded in my wife's MINI Cooper S Convertible (yes we are still married). It's a lot of fun but due to the pandemic it spends most of it's time in the garage. My other car is a 2020 Genesis G90 5.0 AWD and we drive that most of the time as our 7 year old great grandaughter lives with us and attends on-line school during the week due to COVID 19. Anyway I have had the Ironman for almost a year and a half and have all of 4,000 miles on it. I do like taking it out for a romp on the weekend to break up the monotony of being stuck inside due to the pandemic but it is a fun drive. I have yet to see another one on the road and it's just fun to see people's reactions. I will say the matte paint is so cool looking but it is a pain to keep clean since you cannot take it through a car wash.

I have a baby on the way so I had to find an alternative to my mazda MX5 RF. It's a really great trade for all the bells and whistles and I cant help but smile when I get in and not only the power up sound activates but the HUD slowly goes up. As a bonus I was surprised with the pep it has while still having nice gas mk mileage! I wish I didnt have to give up the MX5 but I couldnt ask for a better trade!

One more thing…40-45 MPG is more like it. 45 in town and 40 hwy at 60 MPH. Get your foot into it and it dips down to 30-35 quickly. Also, if your dingus mechanic doesn’t change the crush ring every time you get the oil changed, the fuel economy will drop significantly.

I've been watching your reviews and the straight pipes reviews on the other subcompact SUVs like the normal Kona, Mazda CX3 and Honda HRV. I've narrowed it down to those three, but I'm not sure which one. Any recommendations? I value overall value and safety features and If price wasn't a problem, I would definitely check out this iron man edition.

I wonder if they are selling. The CA dealership I got my Kona EV from had one on their floor for quite a while. This same dealership sold several EVs during that time which makes me think all this effort isn't exactly paying off for Hyundai. Maybe they should have applied this design package to the EV for sheer maximum nerd effect. It's not for me, but I could see the appeal for certain people.

I saw an iron man crown vic last week but it didn’t have Tony Stark’s signature... It was parked next to a Aquaman themed Impala. Both were covered in vinyl and admittedly poorly executed. This was done right but I’m not sure if this is will be the new collectible car of the future or not. Who buys these and does it support future models? This Kona could easily be done in a War Machine theme.

These are heavily discounted at my closest Hyundai dealer - $7,150 off MSRP. I'm thinking you could negotiate some more off, since it's the end of the year. Even so, although I like the 1.6T AWD DCT Kona, I wouldn't buy one. That thing is geared towards such a specific audience - very clique that will be dated in just a couple of years. Resale on it it going to take a big hit - unless you find that ultimate Iron Man fan boy who couldn't find one new.

I owned a Limited Edition PT Cruiser once. Deer Hit the psg door. It was in the paint shop for over a month trying to order/get the special edition graphic for the door. ID BE CAUTIOUS bout all those decals if you got in a accident. just sayin. That was years ago but they only make so many extra parts for “Limited edition” cars. Car insurance was smidge higher too.

I got this car when my PT Cruiser with a custom wood package was taken out by a UHaul Truck. Two weeks after I got it, I was hit in the rear by a 16 year old in a Dodge truck. The body shop was able to repair it--including the badge on the rear and the repulsers with no problem.

That's how I was able to buy mine--every person who came into the dealer who wanted to buy it couldn't afford it, or their parents wouldn't buy it for them. Since my youngest child is in college, I'm old enough to buy whatever car I want. Thus, I got this one.

Its a pretty cool effort by a manufacturer, but this middle aged guy would never buy that. I loved comics as a kid up through my teens (had boxes of them), but when I got to be an adult I moved on to other interests. I never quite understood my friends who hung onto their obsession with comics and collectibles (and this is the ultimate collectible) well into adulthood. I have one who even goes the cosplay route and it just seems silly (although I'd never tell him that). If I were in the market for a small SUV I'd consider the Kona, but never that one. The custom color is great though if you could get it stand-alone.

I wouldn’t pay more than $25-27k for what’s basically a fancy Accent so this isn’t my ride, but saying “it’s not as good as a used car!!” is a comment that can be applied to literally any vehicle. And you can feel free to not buy Korean products, but more and more people are seeing that their reputation is (of late) undeserved.

@@wilmotown I love your passion. Basically I was kidding and not. I have tried both kia and Hyundai a couple of times. There is absolutely nothing about either I find tolerable. I don't care where they come from, but for some odd reason I find zero quality or substance from them. But I can say the same for a new Chevy pickup, just not the same way the Hyundai strikes me. I feel that finding a reasonably priced, well made, decent driving, low maintenance car very hard at any price point. And frankly screw their reputation and the point of being deserved of anything . If they made a great car it would rise to the top yet they wade at the middle of a honda wannabe. Good luck and happy holiday to you but 33000. for a hyundai version of the hrv purchase would qualify you for a straight jacket-minus lapels.

@@ydmf2 I couldnt agree more. I think we are somewhat lost in that segment for a quality subcompact suv. The new Mazda cx30 or cx5 are my two favorites only because they are proven to me. Great style, appointed well, good engine and trans and comfortable but I don't see another worth the time to look at.
